The most amazing thing about the Beatles for 10 years wherever the Beatles were that’s where music was on the timeline.
Before that everybody had their genre then it was over.
Sinatra came, then he was displaced by Elvis. Then Elvis and all the other teen idols, Ricky Nelson, Fabian, etc. etc. had their brief moment in the sun but it ended when music moved on.
The Beatles were the first that we could watch and evolve right before our very eyes. From the mop, top boy band who everybody thought was a gimmick. But it didn’t end there They kept expanding. I was six years old when they hit United States like a bolt of lightning. Yeah yeah yeah! But as I got older, they got older, and more sophisticated.
And they wrote their songs… Although I was in seventh grade when come and get, it, came out by Badfinger… And no matter what… I thought it was by The Beatles.
Anyway, sorry for such a long comment… But the Beatles are part of history not just music.

No apology needed! You are absolutely right that they changed the face of popular music and we are still seeing the benefits today.
It is about cultural and social history as much as musical history.

In August '64, The Beatles played in Seattle, then Vancouver, then went to Los Angeles. They had to make the trip twice between Vancouver and Seattle as their passport suitation wasn't taken care of. They never came back to Vancouver.

Problem with their passports? It must have been crazy back then.

I knew someone who was at the last concert at Candlestick Park. He said you couldn't actually hear them, but you could see them (without giant screen projection, of course)! Were all of the US venues simply using their existing PA systems that were really meant for sports?

I think so. There was no great PA rigs like there are now, so they used whatever they had available.

Still, wish I could have been there. I wasn't yet a teenager and we lived 4 hours away--no luck with prying permission from my parents. 🥲 It would have been so great though--and about much more than the performance, too. It's the whole scene, the rush, being there with them and everyone else so into it too. Wow.

@Susan-gr2xd Thankfully we are getting to read more and more accounts of the people who were there. They're the stories I love finding out about.
