Fascinating places. Places that are unable to properly dispose of (single-use) plastics, and other hazardous materials, should not use them.

It’s so true Frank. Yet western countries still mass produce these products and even send east to these country’s because they offer the cheapest discount for breaking these items down. Crazy times

So beautiful but so sad about the plastic.

It is amazing that a place so beautiful can also be so messed up by western influences.

Plastic is a problem in Indonesia and something not taken very seriously! Beautiful place. I've worked in and traveled this area whilst working in the pearling industry. Be very careful traveling through this region as I've been pirated before on a working trip on a hired charter vessel. Lost everything and lucky to get away with our lives.

You are not wrong this place is beautiful but there is the pollution that is a definite downside.
That sounds like a terrible experience you had we are working on a video about an experience we had where we have been broken into a night by three men. Hopping to get it out to you all soon. 🫶🏼

Unfortunately most of south east asia have this issue.
South china sea, straits of melaka, sulu sea, celebes sea. This is due to human dwellings on the shore or on waters. No waste management at all.
