    A fair review. It looks like a superior product to the THOKK's, especially at this price range. Universal black colour scheme + better protection + appear more durable at first glance + reasonably priced. Very interesting, indeed. The only other HEMA glove out there worth looking at is the Gabriel 2.0.

      Sparring Glove Infinity are pretty great for their price range, IMHO.
      Pro gauntlets seem on par with Gabriel 2.0, better protection, less durability.

    I've got probably 20 pairs of these for my school and they're a great option for club gear. They can fence almost any weapon system (though I'd caution against heavy longsword sparring, especially for newbies unaccustomed to hand defense) and are perfect for drilling, fit most hands, are comfortable and relatively durable. Now, being club gear, they get beat to shit and we have broken several of the back of hand plates that are supposedly "unbreakable", but they still serve their protective function despite the cracks. We've had no significant injuries in the 2+ months we've been using them across our 50+ students, aside from the moderate bruise here and there typical of any glove.
    I personally use these as my go to single stick glove. They work perfect for saber and anything with a complex hilt with great dexterity for various grips. While I'd still say you'd want a heavier glove or sparring glove for longsword, you CAN get away with these if you're good with hand defense. Really, you can't go wrong with them if you've got that caveat in mind.
    Kinda wish they weren't such a blatant THOKK rip off but...competition breeds innovation so *shrug*

      Most of our fencers were surprised by how generous they were. Those that normally buy L still chose M for the SupFen.

      This is hugely dependant on the model of rapier as the variation in hilt space is massive, both from different styles of rapier but also different makers. Black Fencer steel models, yes, Hanwei practical, yes, Darkwood, some models but not all, Kvetun, mostly no, but I haven't tried all models with them. They are of a similar bulk to Red Dragon gloves, so if they fit you will probably be ok.

    • @heirihunziker
      @heirihunziker 9 месяцев назад

      Coda lunga stretta is no problem, but tramazzone / molinetto is a bit more awkward with the SF than with the Thokks due to the Thokks being slightly more low profile.

    Would you say these are better than the thokks?

    • @heirihunziker
      @heirihunziker 9 месяцев назад +1

      I have both gloves, here's my take: Both are very stiff out of the box and take quite a while to break in. Thokks are slightly more low profile and once broken in are more comfortable with better dexterity, but sizing is more wonky. The SF have slightly beefier fingers and when sparring against sideswords / arming swords, hits to the fingers feel a bit less painful, but it comes at the cost of some dexterity. Both gloves have started to deteriorate quickly from steel fencing, especially around the tips of the fingers where stitches can come loose and the fabric starts to wear off. For synthetic sparring, both gloves will last a much longer time. A note about bucklers: The SF has a bulkier plate on the back of the hand, making the glove not fit into most bucklers I've tried whereas the Thokk (size M / ML) does fit into the same bucklers.
      Summary: For more protective hilts, I prefer the Thokk. For less protective hilts, I slightly prefer the SF, or Gabriel 2.0 from CHFG.

      @@heirihunziker how do these SF gloves compare to the Gabriel 2.0 in terms of protection and dexterity?

    • @heirihunziker
      @heirihunziker 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@jonplayer0587 SF are very stiff initially, it will take weeks to break them in whereas the Gabriel feel very mobile right off the start. The SF (as well as the THOKK) are not protective enough for full contact longsword, the Gabriel are ok even for longsword tournaments but there is a very real risk of hits landing inbetween the plates of the sides of the fingers (especially index and pinky finger) and causing injury if your hand isn't in a fully closed hammer grip at all times. Which is a bit unfortunate considering the high mobility of the Gabriel which makes it fun to change grips freely and frequently. The newest update has improved the protection of the underglove a bit but the gaps are still there, so the issue remains. At least until the next version comes out which might fix it.
