- We are at the defects detector at Home, PA. on the Monongahela Railway. We watch a north bound coal train pass with three of the MGA's new Super-7R B23-S7 locomotives from GE. Locomotives 2301-2305-2302. Bring up the rear is an ex-NYC bay window caboose. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294.5
@micksquizzy If you listened to the detector at the end of the clip, you would have heard the detector call off 436 axles. Now subtract 16 axles for the three locomotives and caboose, and that will give you a total of 93, 100 ton cars of coal. That is a pretty big train for 3 units of only 2300 HP each, or a total of 6900 HP.. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294.5
Very nice! I never knew the MGA had defect detectors.
I have never heard a Monongahela defect detector or any Monongahela radio traffic for that matter. That's pretty neat.
@GeeGee7 No idea where the coal was going. There was a lot coal trains that rain north from Waynesburg and today there is even more trains out of the SW. PA, WV coal fields here.
Ah, experimental Dash 8's!
@ponkkaa This looks for hot wheels from sticking brakes, or hot axles. Then there are ones that look for dragging equipment, and others that detect flat spots on wheels. Thanks for watching...
great video, those cars were very full?
Nice video. What type of defects do the detectors look for?

its sad that they had to changed the slogans to the N.S. TSA known As Norfolk Southern....
Which part of home pa is this located at?
The location is at state road T555 between Waynesburg and Mather PA.
