The only stop on the way was WARSAW WEST Station which is in massive renovation.

I enjoyed watching your video. I find it interesting and informative. 🇵🇱 Poland is a beautiful country where history intertwines with modernity. The country has diverse landscapes and regions, friendly people, mouthwatering regional and international cusine, and nice archtecture. 🇵🇱 Poland's road, highway and rail infrastructure is well developed and covers the whole country. In my opinion 🇵🇱 Poland is worth visiting. Do you agree with me?

Next time when you are in 🇵🇱 Poland ask a PKP ticket counter representative for a discount on your train ticket if you are 60 years old or over. I travelled on one of their Intercity trains last year and was offered a quite significant discount. I am not sure if this applies to all PKP trains. However, I know both males and females who are 60 and over are eligible for such a discount.

At Kraków Central if you go to the platform end that has the "Old Town" signs pointing to it - usually the opposite end you came from, you can take a flight of stairs down into the tunnel, turn right, and at the entrance to the shopping mall at the end take the stairs back up, you can exit right at the old Central Station building in front of the shopping mall and bypass it all together. All citizens do it because the mall is a one big trap.

After getting off the train, the shopping center is an underground passage, not a gallery

It is more than a snack bar on a train. It is a full restaurant. You can have a full hot meal prepared onboard. Soup, salad, meat, dumplings, desserts, etc. A lot to choose from.
I'm surprised they asked you about an ID when they checked your ticket. You need it for tickets bought online but not for those bought in the ticket office.

How much return, and did you time the journey exactly? I tempted to do a day trip to Warsaw next month when I'm in Krakow.

A day trip is doable. For current ticket costs, trip durations, and time schedule, I refer you to the PKP Intercity website: www.intercity.pl/en/site/for-passengers/information/journey-planner.html

online on PKP Poland Intercity website. but their website is not English-friendly. Can also be bought right at the station.

@@WheresMyMap Oh, I found PKP's site reasonably easy to use in English (I've done 3 multi-city trips to Poland in June '22, Nov '22 and then May '23, all using the trains to get between them) . On the stations themselves, especially the first couple of times, it can be a bit "hmm... is this *definitely* my correct platform....especially if the smaller monitors on the platform aren't showing your train yet, but aside from 2 delays (out of 10 trips ...so far..) I found their rail network pretty great !

I was able to purchase my tickets about 45 days in advance, but the e-tickets were released to me about 28 days prior to travel.

The CMK railway line, built in the 1970s as a future high-speed rail line, has been undergoing laborious modernization for years, which resulted in a speed of up to 200 km/h, but the installation of Level 1 ETCS turned out to be insufficient and was not completed on the entire line. Currently, the assembly of ETCS level 2 and the configuration of the track and turnouts for the v250 are in progress. Unfortunately, the deadline for increasing the speed is being postponed. The implementation of the ETCS/ERMTS cabin system in Poland is difficult. The current deadline is probably the end of 2026. Unfortunately, deactivation of the level 1 system during the installation of level 2 resulted in a reduction in the speed on CMK to v160km/h. The distance Warsaw - Krakow is 293 km, of which 65 km are classic lines with v160 km/h (exit from Warsaw 30 km and a connector of 35 km between the CMK line and line no. 8), 58 km with v110 km/h (access to Krakow by line no. 8) and 200 km of fast CMK line with speed v200/250km/h. The target driving time is 1 hour and 55 minutes. There are also plans to extend (branch) the CMK line to Krakow (mainly the line to Katowice and Upper Silesia).
