"Quit dobbin' me in, ya li'tle grass!" Gavin said it to Michael in I THINK a TTT Traitor video but I can't remember exactly. I just remember everyone lost it at that sentence.
I feel like it's probably old enough to have happened when Ray was working at AH, but i'm probably wrong Also apparently that quote is unsearchable. There are NO relevant results
I’m American, I’ll say that now I know almost none of this slang, The only reason I know “Numpty” is because I am 99% sure I’ve heard Gordon Ramsay say it before.
As a brit, I also thought of a doss of salt just as gavin said it to Trevor when he thought it was a measurement term. Also Shaun of the dead: "I was positively munted last night". Trevor also does a good Ringo impression.
'Apeth' is an old northern English word meaning 'half pence'. This piece of currency was not worth much and can therefore be considered daft or useless.
To my knowledge, apeth is also used in the black country dialect near Birmingham. The only example of its use that I know is a mother scolding a child "Quit rilin' yer saft apeth!"
ngl i think seeing Trevor's "hail mary" on something like a zoom meeting layout would be pretty funny. super close up of his face vs super close up of Gavin's face plus, we can experience what Gavin goes through
This was so good. I miss ready set show, and everyone being together. Sad its a rare occurrence, but such a happy reminder of the good ol days. Thanks for the content.
It’s always fun being british and playing along too. Lots of British slang is from small areas of the country and even other Brits won’t know them. Then you have the more widespread ones like ‘numpty’, ‘yobbo’, ‘asbo’, ‘doss’ and ‘dobbed’ that are a staple in the language mostly all over. I’m from Leicestershire myself and use words like ‘mardy’, ‘okey’, ‘plaggie bag’, ‘gorrabagon’, ‘jitty’ and ‘laggie band’. I go to university and realise that they are specific to Leicestershire only. Seriously some crazy localised slang. I can define them all if anyone’s curious to know what they mean.
Gavin is such a genius at these, always the perfect pick of stuff any Brit would get but would mystify an American, with the perfectly matched fake ones.
Oddly enough I've been binging all the old RSS the past couple days and was sad that there likely wouldn't be any more. Here's hoping for some remote RSS or some in person stuff whenever Jeremy is visiting.
I'd love to see this with someone else coming in with a more regional dialect - like Yorkshire, and hav Gav there as a lifeline to help Trevor and Jeremy.
Wait, does neither country associate “punting” with betting on a sport? A “punt” in Australia is placing a bet on some outcome of a game/race, so a “Punter’s Cousin” would feasibly fit Gavin’s idea - not the knowledgeable punter, just their cousin.
I dunno about that - specially as "gob" in the non slang way implies viscosity. If someone said "gob" or "gobbed it up" I'd presume there was phlegm in with the saliva spit.
Gav has said dobbed in Gmod TTT a hundred times.. everytime someone rats him out "WHY YOU DOBBING ME IN YOU IDIOT?!" EDIT: if memory serves, I believe I've also heard I think Trevor (or maybe Michael) say "(laughing) yeah I did it, I dobbed him in."
Ahhh my favorite is back!! This should totally be its own series! I also love how Jeremy has not only the exposure to Gav's absurdity but also the vast world of British panel shows to pull from.
While I do respect and understand Jeremy's decision to stay in the northeast, I still can't believe he gave up stuff like this. The face to face content is some of the best AH makes
"Bonce" was actually said by Gavin in "Assassin's Creed III - Let's Play Volume 1!" at the 15:08 mark. Holy moly that was 9 years ago in 2012. Damn I'm getting old.
i’ve seen this video multiple times but i forgot about Trevor saying “wobbed is like when you get burgled by a child” and i nearly choked on my lunch laughing
The trick with words for drunk is that all you need is an "absolutely" before and "ed" at the end eg: absolute laddered, absolute car doored, absolutely keyboarded
Gavins also said “dobbed” on a podcast once. Can’t remember which but they were in front of a live studio audience with him, Barb, Gus, and Burnie. They were on a stage, all sitting on stools, with free mics in their hands Edit: er hold on it might’ve been a different podcast that Michael was on? Idk… he’s said “dobbed” a lot I guess lol
A punter in British slang (at least near me) is a customer. ie a couple of punters rocked up to the market stall. I wonder if that influenced his process
This reminds me of a much happier time, the world wasn’t in tatters, we were all ignorant of horrible secrets, and it felt like everyone was having a good time.
As an Australian I love this so much because I can always recognise at least 1 word each round because a lot of our slang comes from or is inspired by the brits
*When it comes to the world of investing, most people don't know where to start.fortunately, great investors of the past and present can provide us with guidance....
In Australia a punter is someone who puts on a lot of bets, usually on horse-racing, or other sports. When Gavin said Punters cousin I thought that seems familiar, when he gave the definition I was sure it was legit. "Someone who doesn't really know what's going on but acts like they do." Happens a lot around sports betting.
"Quit dobbin' me in, ya li'tle grass!"
Gavin said it to Michael in I THINK a TTT Traitor video but I can't remember exactly. I just remember everyone lost it at that sentence.
Yeah I think in the train station, when Fiona and Gav were traitors and Michael was the swapper
When they were batman characters?
Michael: “What did you say?”
Jeremy: “I think- it’s ‘you dobbed ‘im in, you lil’ grass.’”
Michael: “Oh, now that you’ve said it…”
I feel like it's probably old enough to have happened when Ray was working at AH, but i'm probably wrong
Also apparently that quote is unsearchable. There are NO relevant results
Read that in the exact tone and way he said that
As a Scot, hearing the boys say 'Numpty' and immediately being like "that's pretty gavvy" was great
It’s funny to read then hear the words, I know I’ve heard him say these things.
Same lol
A Scots edition of this show would be great
I’m American, I’ll say that now I know almost none of this slang, The only reason I know “Numpty” is because I am 99% sure I’ve heard Gordon Ramsay say it before.
@@nicholasrodriguez4986 I knew numpty because it’s what captain price calls you in the tutorial area of the OG Modern Warfare
im so happy that ready set show is back, even if it's just for this video
Honestly if they just came together to do this every know and then I'd take it
I was so excited when Jeremy said we are back, then bummed when he said not really.
As British person, I absolutely love watching Jeremy and Trevor all confused, it’s too funny
Same 😂
100% 😁
It's just as funny being an American and sharing the confusion with them 😂
I don’t even know most of these 😂
I don't even realise half of these are British slang until Gavin says them. I just assume Americans use words like numpty and squits as well 😂
My favourite part about this series, is how genuinely happy Gavin looks when he reveals the words.
Not being a native speaker myself, my reaction every time is: "None of these look real!"
Fake British Slang SHOULD be its own series. This would be one of Roosterteeth's best performing series.
It has the same feel as google or Gavin
Yes!
@@leahcarson1822 another thing I miss google or Gavin
I AGREE but also fear that they would run out of words
@@jaykim223 then they could make it a fake slang quiz show to keep it diverse and to avoid running out of words or phrases
As an Englishman I fucking love these, please never stop making these Gavin could go indefinitely with the sheer amount English slang.
Especially with the regional slang, they could make a whole episode on bread rolls
i'm hoping to see them react to 'cockwomble' some day
“Stop dobbing me in you little grass.” -Gavin Free
Not sure which video, it was a TTT tho for sure
I feel like Gavin has used it a lot. I immediately recognized
It's the Funhaus one, Zoidberg and Joseph Joestar.
The Deputy Knight Gmod TTT w/ Funhaus, 25:30
@@TherapyGel yup super funny going back to watch that now XD
He says it to Michael all the time, ex. "WHY YA DOBBING ME IN, SON?!" in one of the recent TTT vids
there was certainly a time when Gavin yelled "Why you dobbing me in, you little grass!?" to michael during ttt
true, i also say it all of the time (Australian)
he literally says it probably every third TTT YOU DOBBIN ME IN SON XD
The Gavin Free dictionary would be the least useful but most fascinating linguistic text
@@enkays_den If they sold this, I would pre-order it cuz I want it so bad
I wish they would let matt venture a guess, he's so quiet the whole episode
he's only there to supervise
He's not cut out for this.
his performance was a bit flat
Seeing the proud, goofy look on Gav's face after he reveals the silly words he came up with is so wholesome
Ha'p'orth
"Half-penny's-worth"
A twist on the word is Daf'dapeth.
To my knowledge, apeth is also used in the black country dialect near Birmingham. The only example of its use that I know is a mother scolding a child "Quit rilin' yer saft apeth!"
For future shows, just stick a shirt to the couch under a screen streaming Jeremy's face.
And he can green screen the set in his video feed.
ngl i think seeing Trevor's "hail mary" on something like a zoom meeting layout would be pretty funny.
super close up of his face vs super close up of Gavin's face
plus, we can experience what Gavin goes through
'Dobbed me in' was Sky Factory episode 5. Gavin asked if the smelter had dobbed him in after bleeding into it.
I am so glad British Slang came back, Jeremy's reactions to our words/phrases are great. I'll never forget his reaction to Billy No Mates 😂😂😂
I love how Gavin just gave them "you know, like if someone has lots of Anti-Social Behavior," and they didn't immediately pick up on it.
This was so good. I miss ready set show, and everyone being together. Sad its a rare occurrence, but such a happy reminder of the good ol days. Thanks for the content.
I feel like Gavin has also called someone a numpty in a video before. Either someone in the room or an npc/enemy.
I never thought they'll bring Ready Set Show back I'm gonna cry. That series was one of the best things Achievement Hunter made in this recent years
Lol who cries over a comedic youtube video
@@brandonwaugh5109 when you know it's never coming back. Also when it's funny as hell.
I never thought we’d get more ready set show, let alone more British slang, let alone with Jeremy. Thank you.

4:50 He's so proud of himself.
I love Trevor trying to suss out what sport has punters when "punters" means something completely different in Britain.
I'd love to see this with someone else coming in with a more regional dialect - like Yorkshire, and hav Gav there as a lifeline to help Trevor and Jeremy.
thats such a marvelous idea. i love it
I love the Matt cutout in the background, made me chuckle every time it was just Jeremy and Trevor on camera
i love how Gav is always so pleased with himself when he writes these on the board
the Aunt Mavis slang reminds me of the slang "a friend of Dorothy" (anyone unfamiliar, look it up, it's got an interesting history)
Wait, does neither country associate “punting” with betting on a sport? A “punt” in Australia is placing a bet on some outcome of a game/race, so a “Punter’s Cousin” would feasibly fit Gavin’s idea - not the knowledgeable punter, just their cousin.
As a brit aside, flobbed and gobbed are both used for "spitting" however flob usually contains spit and nasal throat mucous and gob is just spit.
Just as inuits have 50 words for snow, the brits have 50 words for spit
@@MrJunga dont forget theres also golly and loogie lol

“You Dobbed me in you little grass”- Gavin during a prop hunt video.
As an Aussie, it's really interesting the crossover in slang between AUS and the UK, but then some I've got no idea on
To be fair anything can be used as “you were drunk” if said that way - “I was absolutely pineappled last night!”
You should use that regularly; see people’s reactions.
I could literally watch this game for hours straight of Gavin just coming up with this shit. 😂
This show... It is as beautiful as the day we lost it...
While I do respect and understand Jeremy's decision to stay in the northeast, I still can't believe he gave up stuff like this. The face to face content is some of the best AH makes
Return of the King
I just want to say, this was even better than before because it seemed longer and right into it. Thank you for this type of material.
"Bonce" was actually said by Gavin in "Assassin's Creed III - Let's Play Volume 1!" at the 15:08 mark. Holy moly that was 9 years ago in 2012. Damn I'm getting old.
IM SO GLAD THIS IS STILL A THING.
Dobbed really comes out in primary school and not telling the teacher something. 'Don't dob on me' 'You're such a dobber!'
Oh no it’s back. Time for chuckles.
This needs to be a series
I think this is exactly what we all needed! Love it!
i’ve seen this video multiple times but i forgot about Trevor saying “wobbed is like when you get burgled by a child” and i nearly choked on my lunch laughing
I like to imagine Dobbed is the act of freeing a elf like Dobby
The trick with words for drunk is that all you need is an "absolutely" before and "ed" at the end eg: absolute laddered, absolute car doored, absolutely keyboarded
And, that's the Aussie way.

These are my favourite Ready. Set. Show. I'm so pleased it's back, I can't bloody 'bleef' it!
"Numpty is the most Gavin sound ive heard " Most definitely
Being British, I love playing along with this because Gavs also from a different part of the county from me so he catches me out sometimes :D
If I was anymore excited my heart might explo
I've missed this mini show quite a lot
YES I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR ANOTHER ONE OF THESE
Lemme tell you when I saw the title I clicked the link so hard. READY SET SHOOOOOW
Jeremy takes psychic damage whenever Gavin gets away with it 😂
I've missed this!! I love how proud Gavin is of himself. It's awesome!
I have missed these so much, bring back the Ready Set Show!
these are all soooo good, i’ve missed them
PLEASE! I need more of this!
5:29 wait, we know what Dobbed means, Gavin has stated NUMEROUS times in TTT for some ine to not "Dobb him in".(snitch)
Edit: A HA!
It's just "dob" haha
How wouldn't they know about dobbed?! Gavin says that all the time! Especially during TTT.
YES! loved these ones
I specifically remember Gavin saying "you got dobbed in by a barrel son" in an episode of TTT
As a brit, I approve this video.
As a Brit this is one of my fave AH series. Although I'm from far up north compared to Gav so there's been a couple of times where even I'm not sure 😂
MY FAVORITE READY SET SHOW!!! I LOVE THE BRITISH SLANG!!!
PLEASE More ready set show its so great to watch this again!!
As an Australian I honestly wouldn't even call dobbed slang, I'm shocked they hadn't heard it
Yeah, I was thinking over here is the primary way to say snitched on
The UK doesn't have a punter in sports, but we do use the word to mean a customer, usually in a pub or a betting shop.
I believe the TTT were Gavin uses dobbed is the chunge train station one with Swapper michael. I could be wrong.
I'm English but I've honestly never heard of Flobbed and Apeth before. You learn something new every day.
I’ve been waiting my entire life for this!

WOOOO i desperately wanted more of these
British people: *invent the English language
Also Britisb people: *Absolutely basterdize it to obscurity
didnt know about this but I want more, definitely find a way to do it with Jeremy more

As an Australian I love this so much because I can always recognise at least 1 word each round because a lot of our slang comes from or is inspired by the brits

"if he gets away with this, i'm going to slap your head!" when i say i lost it
I'm glad Jeremy was at the office and you took the initiative to make a READY SET SHOW!!!! I really Enjoyed this video!
Honestly my favorite part of the fake british slang eps is the dynamic these three have, absolute GOOFBALLS. real bafoonery hours here lads
So glad this got another episode.
in my head, i always hear, *QUIT DOBBIN ME IN, YA LITTLE GRASS!*
Surprised nobody mentioned that Gav is drinking tea during this. Trying to reup on his British energy for the show.
Aunt Mavis reminded me of Aunt Flo, and the way Gav used it was so similar too!
I was reccomended the first one today, and now I'm watching them all in a row.
