650HP K20-owered Wolf (FASTEST car at '21 PPIHC) vs 2020 Lamborghini Huracán EVO No Prep Drag Race

We brought out the FASTEST car at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2021 to see what it would do on our little drag strip! Robin Shute's team took a production Wolf GB08 and turned it into an absolute monster simply by dropping in a fully built 650hp Honda K20 in it. There's obviously a little more to it than that but you get the idea. With a little scumbag science we decided that a brand new Lamborghini Huracán EVO was the best potential match up for it. It might weigh more and make a little less power but that doesn't change the fact that it does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and tops out at just over 200mph. Enjoy!

It wouldn't of mattered if the lambo had 8 warm tyres... power to weight is everything, lambo has about 400 hp per tonne, wolf has about 1100 hp per tonne. ... lambo is nearly 3 times heavier...it was an obvious outcome...
This K20 vs the PLAID is what you should have done guys. Closer races is what we want to see!

Let’s be honest, you never know what you’re gonna get until u race these cars. Who knows the Plaid might destroy the K20. We won’t know until they race each other
I mean that Huracan is a 10 second car and the Wolf gave a huge gap sauce. If we pit it against a Plaid, I don't think the result might be that different. Sure, the Plaid might get of the line quicker but that Honda will run it down. I bet that wolf would be in the late 8.

Not to mention aero. AWD don't matter when you got an extra 1000 lbs of diwnforce. Pikes peak car is going to be tuned for lower speeds and more acceleration too.
@@carlsjr7975 in a straight line race aero is a hindrance man, theres a reason f1 cars go faster with DRS. You also have to be going fast to produce downforce, you dont make fuck all standing still with just a headwind lol so it does zero for a launch. That thing is a rocket off the line because its light as fuck, makes lots of power and has good mechanical grip (suspension and tyres)
@@solatyn you can make downforce standing still....but you need some fans (check the Chaparral 2J; standing still, fans at max rpm, it produces the equivalent of it's own weight in downforce; 1g).
Also, you CAN make downforce at low speeds. Just get that angle of attack steeper. Yes, it will create more drag, but considering the level difference at PikesPeak, "reasonably angled wings" just wouldn't work close to the top altitude.
Considering the amount of wings and the steep angle they're placed at, I'm pretty sure downforce played a big role even at low speeds. Not off the line, but you get the point

You can put it into a wind tunnel and make maximum downforce too, so unless you have an extreme headwind the down force generated has almost zero impact on launch grip. What it does need to do is waste horsepower to overcome drag coefficient, the wing is a huge hindrance in a straight line race
@@solatyn I just said those wing don't affect the acceleration right off the line. But they play a big part in this process at speeds above 30mph. Pressing those tires into the track is extremely important to get that kind of launch because a) slicks were cold and b) power delivery is brutal, so extra grip is welcome. I bet without those wings the engine would keep spinning the wheels, no matter the gear.

I don't know why you'd be questioning the horsepower of the Wolf at 650 when it weighs only 1200 lbs. If you can make traction with that combo, there's basically nothing that will stay with it. It's a 7 second car on a proper drag strip with a good launch. He might even be running 8's with the kind of launches he's getting here. The Huracan with the same power and weighing in at 3645 lbs is a mid 10 second car at best. It would need to have 2000 hp to have the same ET and trap speed as the Wolf.

@@carlsjr7975 there's a very detailed video on RUclips that goes into this specific car's winning run of Pikes Peak, and they say the horsepower varies from over 600 at the base of the mountain to 500 at the top. Its a good watch, Superfastmatt is the channel it's on.
That's one of the most impressive losses on this vs that.

That was really no contest, that Wolf is like throwing a 1500 hp twin turbo LS into a Miata.
Small, powerful engines are the future of ICE, and with the materials we have, it gets easier to mass build what are essentially "built" K20s, 2Js, etc

If I remember correctly, Robin (and other drivers) use real supplemental oxygen during Pike’s Peak runs because the air is so thin and the climb is rapid.

K20s can rev higher than K24s. Some of the fastest hondas use K20s over K24s for this reason. Ask Boosted boiz 😜
