A transformer once had his memory erased while he was mid transformation and he didn't know what to do, panicked, and ended up ripping himself apart. It's also possible for Transformers to become addicted to the act of transformation, the most famous example is the Decepticon Tarn, he transforms so much that he burns out his T-Cog and constantly needs replacements which he gets from the black market

Not just them 4, but every low-class cybertronian it seems. At least till Alpha Trion gives them Transformation Cogs (T-cogs, for short)
