Yes it's a shit hole, but I grew up in Farnborough (21 years), and looking at those pictures I have fond memories of growing up there, and spending evenings out with friends when we were too young to go anywhere. And yes, they need to bring the Tumbledown/Quarantine back, that place rocked.
On the plus side, the buses are a lot more regular now, the twice-weekly market is awesome in its new location, there's a new university opening, and the cinema is finally here. It's not all bad :-)
I am nearly 50 and lived in Farnborough my entire time.....it's not as bad as the song makes out lol I prefered the town in the 70's though...give me a tardis!!!!
The "Local Nutters" link with the picture was a dig at a rival camera club that meets there. I originally showed this for an Audio-Visual competition at my camera club, so this was an 'in joke' against Farnborough Camera Club, all meant in good humour.

Agree we need a heart putting back in Farnborough - no civic centre, cinema or centre meeting place? There are some lovely places like Queen Elizabeth Park and the Abbey - we do have a history too - make time to find out.
This is fantastic. I remember playing pool at lunchtimes in the Tumbledown before it turned into to a music venue. I moved to Guildford as it had more going on - and the bearded lady is still around I saw her last week :-)
