    How do tariffs work?
    A tariff is a domestic tax levied on goods as they enter the country, proportional to the value of the import. So a car imported to the US with a value of $50,000 subject to a 25% tariff, would face a $12,500 charge.
    Tariffs are a central part of Trump's economic vision - he sees them as a way of growing the US economy, protecting jobs and raising tax revenue.
    He has previously claimed that these taxes are "not going to be a cost to you, it’s a cost to another country".
    This is almost universally regarded by economists as misleading.
    The charge is physically paid by the domestic company that imports the goods, not the foreign company that exports them.
    So, in that sense, it is a straightforward tax paid by domestic US firms to the US government.
    Trump imposed a number of tariffs in his first term of office, many of which have been kept in place by his successor, President Joe Biden. Economic studies suggest most of the economic burden was ultimately borne by US consumers.
    It was not immediately clear whether Trump's "additional 10% tariff, above any additional tariffs" earmarked for China were on top of the 25% he was planning for Canada and Mexico.

    Thank you for your videos.... The current global economy remains challenging, with central banks maintaining higher interest rates to combat inflation, creating tighter lending conditions and slowing consumer and corporate spending. This environment is pressuring sectors like housing, retail, and stocks, while rising unemployment remains a concern. Diversified portfolios, including stocks and alternative assets like cryptocurrencies, are essential for managing risk and volatility, alongside balanced trading strategies. Personally, I’ve grown my portfolio from $130k to $732k in just a few months, thanks to Dorcia Walston’s exceptional expertise and traditional trading acumen, which have been invaluable in navigating this ever-evolving market...

    Inflation is a monetary phenomenon. Tariffs aren't "inflationary"; they would, at worst, be relative "inflation".

    Keeping Chinese EVs out of the U.S. has nothing to do with national security.

    • @harrychu650
      @harrychu650 2 часа назад

      Chinese EVs in America would mean the end of the Detroit Automakers and the loss of all those union jobs. Historically, those auto factories get converted to military factories in times of war. Are you willing to pay this cost?
      The truth is only Tesla is in a position to compete with the Chinese EV Producers. By 2027, the fate of that competition will be settled with control of the Auto Market in Tesla's hands or the Chinese.

      I’m not in a position to offer financial advice, but given the significant amount of capital you're working with, it would be wise to consult a financial advisor who can guide you in developing a strategy tailored to your goals and risk tolerance.

    Very strong economies like the economy we had under Biden often produce higher rates of inflation. Very low unemployment, higher wages and high growth = higher rates of inflation. Biden had the added problem of disrupted supply chains following Covid lock downs. Inflation is exacerbated by corporate greed & the thirst for still more profit.

    • @prolific1518
      @prolific1518 5 часов назад +1

      Only cause of inflation is the growth of the money supply. Biden admin tried to buy an election and use fake data but smart Americans saw through it.

      Evidently you haven’t watched the job numbers over the past 4 years? You can’t pay for everyone to be on the government payroll. When you compare the 2 manufacturing which has been suffering under Biden. Obviously you also haven’t looked at his approval ratings handling of the economy either. That boat has sunk and good riddance. SMH
