When you hiked to the spot of Kamo no Chomei’s original hut I was in awe! I’m also fascinated by Henry David Thoreau, small space living, and simple minimal living. I’m sorry you lost your apt keys, but so thankful you were able to get them back even though you had to cut your trip short to do so. Love your content, it’s exciting to see Japanese culture through your eyes.
I enjoyed that sooo much! That Dream bus is my ideal way of travelling, I would have slept like a log in that NASA chair in the cosy little compartment 😴 I wish we had those buses in England then I could travel up and down the UK reading and looking at the scenery. The Pocket Hotel is a great idea as a cheaper alternative for just a night or two. The mountain walk was so beautiful, thank you for taking us with you, and the food looked delicious 😋…but I miss Sorting Hat Spider-Man 😢
Interesting videos, beautiful views, unusual places. But it's not safe to walk in the mountains in such shoes) How many delicious dishes! It's good that the key was found...It definitely won't hurt you to rest after such a trip))

I’ve actually been to both Tokyo (Arakawa-ku) and Kyoto, briefly. We went by train. Quite the experience! And NASA tech is pretty amazing. My partner, with whom I was traveling, works for NASA. I got to borrow an iPhone and a pocket router on that trip, in about 2010, long before I would have had either here in the US. It was a memorable trip, and I enjoyed trying out geo-caching in Kyoto, and purchasing smoked squid in an eki-ben on the train to Hokkaido. So yummy!!! 😊 I also visited the living history museum on the other end of the country, where I got to see recreations of buildings from 1700-1800’s Japan, it was fascinating!

The trip into the mountains was beautiful! The hotel looked clean and efficient too. As for tour apartment keys, I highly suggest you find a way to attach them to your bag (is there a little lanyard in the bag, or a zippered pocket?) when you travel like that. 🙂 Thank you for taking us on the journey with you.
