Isn't it stated that the love interest in the game is an upper class-men to the character we play? That is what always confused me about the "characters are 18 or older" statement. How the hell can someone be an upper class-men to someone else if they're all 18, unless Ayano got held back a grade or two (which I doubt since the school is a high class private high school).
The "All characters are over 18" tag, similar to "This story is fiction" , is a mere safety cushion used by Western hentai/eroge publishers to defend against lawsuits. It's one of the reasons why old hentai dubs claim that characters go to university/college despite they are studying in very stereotypical Japanese schools, wearing sailor fuku, and never looking older than 16-17. This tag is not so weird, especially for an incredibly violent and sexual M-rated game with questionable elements like Yandere Simulator. The real problem with YanDev using the tag is that it's a direct defense against fandom backlashes, which was clearly not very well thought out yet it's carelessly added into the developer's backlog. It's not game-breaking, but it does show that the he's really desperate to get criticism off his chest.

Kokona dating older men for money, two pedophile rivals, an incest rival, panty shots as a currency, and the sailor school uniforms that he finds oh so sexy. Regarding your first point: "compensated dating" is an actual thing in Japan - and the game Yandere Simulator shames this practice by having Kokona being deeply embarrassed by resorting to this to make money for the father - and using this fact as a way to hurt Kokona's reputation, meaning that the entire school in the game also condemns this practice. So, the game mentions the practice of "compensated dating", but it's not promoted or shown positively, but very negatively. Yandere Simulator shows that dating older men for money is a practice to be ashamed of, which I think is the correct way of showing it. 🙂

Can you make a video on the newest allegations against YandereDev? Another youtuber named Ally McC made a video essay on Alex that showed pretty damning evidence of YandereDev talking inappropriately to someone he knew was a minor. He also ended up striking down the original video but you can find reuploads here on youtube or on the r/Osana subreddit. This man is trying everything he can to hide this evidence against him and he's so close to getting away with it. We need more people with a bigger audience to shine a light on this issue so he can't hide from it anymore. What's even worse is that he manipulated this victim into thinking she isn't actually a victim, so now she's retracting her statements and is now blindly defending him. I haven’t really been following anything about this game since it doesn’t interest me, but hearing how much of a creep this guy is is… alarming, to say the least. I do want to say though as an SA survivor, the wording at 5:06 threw me for a loop. I assume you mean to say that what the character could do to the NPCs (taking pictures up their skirts) was SA, but that’s not really accurate-that would be harassment, not assault. (Still a crime, but a different one.) But the timing (saying this right after the section about the disgusting way he wanted to show the inventory) and wording of it made it sound for a brief moment like you were saying that YandereDev was SAing fictional characters. I figured shortly after that that probably wasn’t what you’d meant, but it jarred me because I’ve heard people make weird claims like that, and I had to go back and rewatch that section to figure out what you meant there. I just bring this up because as an SA survivor, it freaks me out to see people treating fictional characters on the same level as real people, like claiming that real people can “assault” fictional characters. Which sounds like a bizarre claim, but I’ve heard it before (in fact just ran across people talking about it last night), and it’s essentially putting people like me at the same level as a fictional character. But what I went through was very much real and my trauma is very real, and I can’t tell you how distressing it is to see a claim of someone being weird about a fictional character as being on the same level as real SA. And again to be clear-I know YOU didn’t mean to imply that! That was just how I heard it initially. All this to say I enjoy your videos and the effort you put into them a lot! I just ask you please be careful about the way you word things regarding sensitive topics. It’s been 5 years since I have stopped to support Yandere Simulator project because of large numbers of issues surrounding the game development. Yanderedev have a history of problems of handling criticism because he perceive the criticism of his game as harassment. Yet, his audience is very protective of him. Great video. I will never make the Yansim inspired game because of the reputation of genre being curse..
A couple of years ago (around 2021) I remember writing a 2000 word investigative report going thoroughly in-depth about Yandere Dev and his game for a university project - delving deep into his dodgy past on the internet as well as the extremely troubled development of the game. I suspect not much has changed since then At the time I actually dug up and found most of his old archived Gaia Online posts for research. It was surreal to read.
Let’s not forget that Yandere Dev made very concerning missions too. One being finding a bigger shirt for Kokona, while another was finding Saki’s bra.
Its ashame. I really liked yandev and i wanted to support his game any way i could. I always dreamed of seeing the full version of the game ever since 2016 but it seems the most innocent seeming fellows are the darkest inside.

His name’s Kris, he had depression, and he was a huge fan of Yandere simulator and was so happy to be in his discord server, but Alex banned him in his server because he didn’t like how Kris had a mental disorder. Kris was about to end his life, but Alex couldn’t even care, so many people in the server were so mad at Alex. Don’t worry though, Kris is alright and is getting all the love.

I love yandere simulator, the concept is unique and definitely can work. The dev is a bit… ehhh at times. Some of the content is /really/ creepy and turned me away from the game as I got older. The game feels like wasted potential. Also watching this when yandere dev’s Patreon is at its lowest 💀

I remember messaging Yanderedev on discord at the time of the controversy with the claims, without knowing any of this, saying I'd support him even if he had made some kind of mistake (since I had only heard of vague harassment claims at the time) and him saying I was sweet and he apreciated it, I remember telling him he could vent to me if necessary. For the "Early Contreversies" part, there is a game that was officially published on a console (PS4) called Natsuiro Highschool in Japan. I assure you, everything in that game is "creepier" than anything Yan Dev has done in Yan Sim. It's the hentai Japanese trope taken to the extreme in a form of video game. lol I was surprised it was even allowed to released at all. It seems like Natsuiro and Hitman were good chunks of his inspiration since he has mentioned them long time ago. When it comes to the "skeleton" of the game, yeah it's bad. Alex refuses to learn better coding so you'll need the latest RTX for more than 60fps. I think it requires real talent at this point to still add stuff to the game without breaking it entirely.

I was a kid when I first saw markiplier play this game still am if you count 17 as a kid. I used to love watching markipier play the game and last year I finally downloaded the game. It is absolutely shocking that he has completed the 1980s mode COMPLETLY and the normal game, he had only made one character. He also has 10 rivals planned which will get BORING quick and the fact that is has been a decade AND that he has drove away volunteers and even a game dev because he didn't like how the game devs had better code then him, is infuriating. The game is slows and laggy as the code is bad and after hearing how he is a PEDOPHILE, I don't even want to support the game anymore never mind him. I wish it was in the hands of another game dev as they would have finished the game much sooner and they wouldn't be behaving like a manchild

As someone who play Yandere Simulator, I never really looked into the creator and only game updates. Soon enough I found this video and now I understand why Yandere Simulator has been in development for so long. I'm disgusted by what I just learned, hopefully Yandere Simulator will someday fall into better hands, and not such disgusting ones.

This tag is not so weird, especially for an incredibly violent and sexual M-rated game with questionable elements like Yandere Simulator.
The real problem with YanDev using the tag is that it's a direct defense against fandom backlashes, which was clearly not very well thought out yet it's carelessly added into the developer's backlog. It's not game-breaking, but it does show that the he's really desperate to get criticism off his chest.
The more I hear about this man, the more I hope some major AAA company comes along, steals his idea, and we never have to think about this guy again

Edit: Because of the new allegation that has come out on Yandere Dev which provides concrete evidence of an inappropriate conversation he had with a minor, many people probably don’t like Yandere Simulator anymore either. He just said that they’re 18 because he didn’t want to get cancelled for sexualizing minors. He knew what he was doing. He was implementing his disgusting fetishes into the game and no one saw it until it was too late.

Regarding your first point: "compensated dating" is an actual thing in Japan - and the game Yandere Simulator shames this practice by having Kokona being deeply embarrassed by resorting to this to make money for the father - and using this fact as a way to hurt Kokona's reputation, meaning that the entire school in the game also condemns this practice.
So, the game mentions the practice of "compensated dating", but it's not promoted or shown positively, but very negatively. Yandere Simulator shows that dating older men for money is a practice to be ashamed of, which I think is the correct way of showing it. 🙂

Another youtuber named Ally McC made a video essay on Alex that showed pretty damning evidence of YandereDev talking inappropriately to someone he knew was a minor. He also ended up striking down the original video but you can find reuploads here on youtube or on the r/Osana subreddit.
This man is trying everything he can to hide this evidence against him and he's so close to getting away with it. We need more people with a bigger audience to shine a light on this issue so he can't hide from it anymore. The editing here is really fantastic! I haven’t really been following anything about this game since it doesn’t interest me, but hearing how much of a creep this guy is is… alarming, to say the least.
I do want to say though as an SA survivor, the wording at 5:06 threw me for a loop. I assume you mean to say that what the character could do to the NPCs (taking pictures up their skirts) was SA, but that’s not really accurate-that would be harassment, not assault. (Still a crime, but a different one.) But the timing (saying this right after the section about the disgusting way he wanted to show the inventory) and wording of it made it sound for a brief moment like you were saying that YandereDev was SAing fictional characters. I figured shortly after that that probably wasn’t what you’d meant, but it jarred me because I’ve heard people make weird claims like that, and I had to go back and rewatch that section to figure out what you meant there.
I just bring this up because as an SA survivor, it freaks me out to see people treating fictional characters on the same level as real people, like claiming that real people can “assault” fictional characters. Which sounds like a bizarre claim, but I’ve heard it before (in fact just ran across people talking about it last night), and it’s essentially putting people like me at the same level as a fictional character. But what I went through was very much real and my trauma is very real, and I can’t tell you how distressing it is to see a claim of someone being weird about a fictional character as being on the same level as real SA.
And again to be clear-I know YOU didn’t mean to imply that! That was just how I heard it initially. All this to say I enjoy your videos and the effort you put into them a lot! I just ask you please be careful about the way you word things regarding sensitive topics.

Yanderedev have a history of problems of handling criticism because he perceive the criticism of his game as harassment. Yet, his audience is very protective of him.

For the "Early Contreversies" part, there is a game that was officially published on a console (PS4) called Natsuiro Highschool in Japan. I assure you, everything in that game is "creepier" than anything Yan Dev has done in Yan Sim. It's the hentai Japanese trope taken to the extreme in a form of video game. lol I was surprised it was even allowed to released at all. It seems like Natsuiro and Hitman were good chunks of his inspiration since he has mentioned them long time ago.
When it comes to the "skeleton" of the game, yeah it's bad. Alex refuses to learn better coding so you'll need the latest RTX for more than 60fps. I think it requires real talent at this point to still add stuff to the game without breaking it entirely.

As someone who is a older sister of two brothers with disabilities (like autism) I found it VERY offensive and disrespectful when yandere dev said that disabled people should d!e, shame on him for having the guts to say that publicly online. Everything he did was disgusting and he does not deserve the praise he gets.
I was a kid when I first saw markiplier play this game still am if you count 17 as a kid. I used to love watching markipier play the game and last year I finally downloaded the game. It is absolutely shocking that he has completed the 1980s mode COMPLETLY and the normal game, he had only made one character. He also has 10 rivals planned which will get BORING quick and the fact that is has been a decade AND that he has drove away volunteers and even a game dev because he didn't like how the game devs had better code then him, is infuriating. The game is slows and laggy as the code is bad and after hearing how he is a PEDOPHILE, I don't even want to support the game anymore never mind him. I wish it was in the hands of another game dev as they would have finished the game much sooner and they wouldn't be behaving like a manchild

As someone who play Yandere Simulator, I never really looked into the creator and only game updates. Soon enough I found this video and now I understand why Yandere Simulator has been in development for so long. I'm disgusted by what I just learned, hopefully Yandere Simulator will someday fall into better hands, and not such disgusting ones.

Yandere Dev in my opinion is tragic tale, if he had just listen to the criticism, Changed his attitude and actually let people help him with his game maybe he wouldn't be as hated as much. I wouldn't call it tragic. Pitiable perhaps, but not tragic, since he did it all to himself. He could've finished the game and been doing updates or even a full-on sequel at this point. Look at the guy that made Helltaker. He made one short, free puzzle game because we wanted more demon girls in business suits, and look at happened. There's a bunch of merch and fanart of it to this day. Putting controversies aside, Yandere Dev could've been another Skullgirls if he wasn't... Well him.

I don’t like yandere dev, but I do like yandere simulator. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but at the end of the day, I just want the game. Even if yandere dev is a bad person, that doesn’t change the amount of work the voice actors and the community has put into the game. One way or another, this game will get finished, with or without Alex.
There are fanmade concept that is really interesting and way better.
