Thank you for your input, we're still in the dark about what the information was or who it went to, but fully agree just cutting off talent that people are there to see and support just like that is wild. It really causes a lot of confusion and upset. One thing i want for hololive is the talents that i support to be happy, healthy, financially good and safe. It's probably true that the resources may not be going to where they need to, and i worry about that when i see someone i like needing to take a break or feeling like they can't keep up. Thank you for including a link to Mel's new channel.

I did not know this. Thank you for providing this information. I too wish for Mel to be comforted by trusting friends and family at this time. I can only imagine that this is one of the most stressful and sad times for Mel.

      @harlster3373 7 месяцев назад

Hopefully it’s not a friend that goes behind her back when Mel vents out her stresses and accidentally leaks out private info by accident since she wasn’t thinking clearly due to her being stressed and struggling mentally with the fact her cat died also not helping either and her venting to this friend because they are close and she trusts a lot and then said friend going behind her back to leak or tell others leading to her getting into trouble
Those kind of “friends” are the worst
So yeah I do hope she has some actual friends that will actually help and watch over her and not screw her over

While I agree with what you say about the way Mel's career is ending, and for as much as it sucks we shouldn't forget that Cover corp is now a publicly visible company (like you said). It's going to sound terribly cold, but unfortunately Cover legally had no choice but to let her go. Just like you, I'd like to see the corporate rules and regulations being more accomodating but it's not a problem on Yagoo's hands, it's a societal problem.
This doesn't mean that Cover should be absolved of everything, they absolutely must train their talents better to make them understand the importance of NDA breaking and their consequences (clearly a shortcoming on the management side here). So I totally agree with your suggestions, they definitely need to take better care of their talents or that situation will happen again. Cover, the management, the community, we should all work to do better for the future.
Also, don't get me wrong I love Mel. She has a bright personality, she's cute and funny. She's a good person and a kind soul. Her genuine mistake cost her the job of her life and her dreams to be broken. And that's sucks, a lot!! I wish the best for her and I genuinely want her to be happy again.
Mel has already made a statement under her other identity's twitter so I'll stick to her version and not listen to those trying to push a narrative. I will not forget our cute genius vampire

I totally understand where you're coming from and understand that Cover Corp is now a public trading corporation with a lot at stake when it comes to contracts and image. However I will have to respectfully disagree when it comes to Mel's termination on the basis of company policy that is supposed to uphold the company image and stock price. Even following their own company policy of breach of contract, they are reserved the right to terminate and not forced to terminate by outside parties. Many large corporations such as Disney, Apple, Cococola, Microsoft, to name a few handle their internal matters internally especially when it comes to matters that involving terminating important figures i.e. outside of illegal activities.
Unlike Rushia's case where the information was public and widely spread to a dramatuber, Mel's leak was something private until Cover released their announcement about Mel's termination. This whole situation could have been handled internally if we follow the corporate standard and logic on a small and large scale. There may have been a possibility that the third party in question could have released that information but regardless it would make no difference that Covers goal was never to keep the matter in house, instead they decided to publicly release their own statement.
If the biggest issue was the corporate image and brand Hololive has to uphold and their importance of upholding an NDA, that is all up to the discretion of the employer and never has to be handled a certain way until made public where people can criticize. An NDA only gives power to a company to handle internally, there are no ramifications for handling matters privately. In fact its often more common place for NDA breaches not to be listed as it brings more questions of current contracts into the publics opinion. No one was forcing Motoaki tango to fire Mel on the basis of a contract breach, though they had the legal rights to if they wanted, which they did. The firing of Mel was more so keeping everyone in line, and more than corporate structure it lies with the East Asian and Japanese Corporate culture. The culture Hololive is holding is not one that is staff friendly, but Idol culure and J & Kpop influenced. It's clear to me that this decision was made by Tanigo who had to sign off on this as well as a few board members. And Cover has deleted all past posts of Mel's harassment from 2020 all the way to 2022 where they accept blame for providing an environment for blackmail, stalking, harassment, and breach of personal security and privacy. They don't want Mel on the roster as someone who was a victim of Hololive's incompetent handling of harassment and hiring of a dangerous former employee. And this happened all relatively recently, coincidentally, they removed these archived posts and with Mel's twitter soon to be deleted, all posts of this will be deleted forever, which cover would positively be thrilled about. I could go on and on about this, but I think you understand my frustration with Cover picking their own rules to play by not for corporate matters but for personal gain. Removing Mel, a lower popularity and less lucrative vtuber in Hololive's eyes while also removing a remnant of a terribly mishandled legal situation, is a win for Hololive. This breach in the NDA was a good out for Hololive to use to essentially get rid of what they see as an eye sore. Tanigo runs the show at Hololive as he is the President and CEO meaning he upholds the top position on the board as well as on a organization and day to day planning sign off. It's clear as day to me that this was a one sided marriage and unfortunately Mel was always too kind to Hololive to press any sort of legal high ground in regards to her harassment or press for more rights due to her mishandled career.

@@tawnky Don't get me wrong, I totally understand your frustation since I don't like how it ended either! I think we can at least agree on the fact that in the community, most of us value human before money.
I never say (nor think for that matter) that Mel's termination was the right thing to do or that it was handled the right way but the harsh reality is that even Yagoo as a CEO must answer to a board of directors and shareholders. His hands are tied too, his dream of offering a haven of peace so that talents can flourish is now confronted with money.
Does it means he could handle things differently? Surely yes. Yet, does it makes Cover a black company? Not yet at least, but I'll give you that there are more and more concerns over time.
They couldn't establish a precedent because of seniority privilege.I mean if Sora herself slips up, they will also be forced to end their collaboration except that in this case it will mean the end of Hololive as we know it because A-chan will resign immediately and the majority of JP talents will follow! Let's hope that this day will never come, but I will watch closely how some of the older members behave as time goes on (namely Fubuki) because I'm genuinely worried how things might turn out.

After Rushia's own Incident, Still I really don't understand the extent of Cover's NDA whether if it's Japan's way of dealing with breaches even if it accidental along with an apology from an individual still counts to straight for termination
If the NDA breaches, it's up to the company decide whether can at temporally suspend or deny a monthly earnings in case if those act of breaches have partly due to like being hacked,Extorted or Blackmail but they go straight to termination?
What if that 3rd party she accidentally leaked to without knowing was a Hacker who is an Anti or Stalker?
Aside from YAGOO & A-chan, do these execs understand the feelings of her & every other talents fans they profit from?
Fans of Mel felt like they're being suckered by the company after spending money on Superchats & Merchandise taking away their Happiness because imagine if you spent a Hundred Bucks on Superchat & all the sudden that was your last.
This going to make future Talents this Year think Twice before signing up & fans who heard about this especially overseas is getting Malicious what they're going to do to them.
Worst of all despite no ill intent unlike Rushia's, they'll Permanently Private all of her 5 years worth of Archives denying fans memories?

Yeah, I agree with pretty much everything you said in here. The whole situation sucks, and I have a very hard time believing termination was the only option for both Rushia and Mel. Unfortunately we will never get the whole story of what happened so there will always be a seed of doubt in a lot of people's minds whenever they look back on it.
But the fact that it happened twice, and so out of nowhere in Mel's case makes me uneasy about the other talents. I could wake up one day to my oshi's termination announcement and message saying that soon her whole channel will be gone, her money and time that she invested into it gone. That's not right.

Even though I agree with basically the entirety of the vid there is just one thing I would point out, and that's Japan's anti-defamation laws. The way that they are written, to my understanding, is that even if what you say is objectively true and even has a legal court settling on fault, if it is brought up and one party is made to (or perceived to) lose public face that they have the grounds to sue even if it is the party ruled at fault. There have been cases of news publications in Japan being sued by convicted child molesters because they felt that a story published that never mentioned any name or even exact details were too close to their cases and therefore were able to successfully sue for defamation. Knowing this it makes a bit more sense why Cover would just release a statement and move on. Anything more opens them up to liability of more legal fees and settlements. Once again I'm not saying its right by our western standards, but it gives a bit more context as to why things always seem so cookie cutter when it comes to this stuff.::::::::::: TLDR :::::::::: Japan laws make it easy to sue Cover publicly talking about the firing of the EX- Management more than just "they let them go."

i find myself generally agreeing with what's been brought up in this video.
termination for nda makes sense, but often nda breaches end up not being severe enough to deserve termination, relative to the vtuber business as opposed to a regular office job. for regular office jobs, sure, firing someone for a severe enough nda breach could be fair, but termination isn't the vtuber equivalent of being fired from an office job for an nda breach, in my opinion.
in the vtuber world, termination is akin to death. it's like robbing a bank and being sentenced to death for it. termination for a vtuber for nda breaches should be comparable to a death sentence for the worst and highest levels of theft, such as secret government and military information theft. at least, that's how i feel about termination for vtubers overall.
and what if all affected third parties wish to not terminate the vtuber(s) in question in case of an nda breach to the same or similar relative extent and level as this case's with mel? would the talents still be terminated unilaterally by cover since that's all that can be done in terms of contract? in which case, why not have more explicitly detailed punishments and courses of action to be taken for nda breaches and other contract breaking, other than just termination as a minimum? termination for vtubers shouldn't be the minimum punishment for an nda breach, in any case, in my opinion.
sorry for rant, mel termination really affected me badly. and i hadn't even fully recovered from rushia's either, even though the undertones were different between these two termination cases.

but have u ever thought the talents could be at the wrong at some point of time?
Mel has been here since very long time and one would assume she is familiar with most of the rules of the corporation but maybe it was the best choice since working under a company is not everyone can do ....most vtubers got out of big vtuber companies and started off as indie or with smaller but bettr companies.....i just hope we can see Mel reincarnation soon ...if she decides to that is

What they did was an absolute terrible move, that „mutual agreement” nonsense is next level funny, as if someone would agree to let their 5 years of work getting purged and getting let go like that, it was a pushed decision.
This will put a lot of pressure and anxiety on the other talents, imagine in your 5 years of working you did one mistake and this will cost you losing your job, this is nothing but draconian.
And the people who seriously support such a decision are just as bad, a company cant improve themselfs, if you have blind worshippers that say that the company cant do anything wrong.
