Matt, lifelong friends are something to appreciate and hang onto with everything you can. Good ones are even harder to find. You my friend, are a blessed man. Always appreciate them and treat them the way you want to be treated, like I always see that you do. May you continue to be blessed beyond measure. Thanks for all of you fellers hard work and bringing us videos on a regular basis. John here, photographing the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee, y'all.
Awesome thank you and I agree
First floor framing done. Great job. Love the banter between the two of you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats to your mom, Ryan, for retiring. It's awesome in every way possible. I had to wait until I was 65 to retire (and for a long time, I wasn't sure I could afford to retire). Looking back like this will amaze you at how long you've been doing something and it becomes daunting looking at how much longer you still have to go. Both of you have great outlooks, attitudes, confidence, and drive to keep you going. Look for the adventures that you will have and life will not be boring. Thanks for sharing this, Matt. This was a fun video.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed
*Really old school terminology !*
Fire/ Freeze blocks - - Were 2x4 blocks placed between any and all studs interior or exterior, half way between the toe and top plates.
Because in the day you had no sub flooring, exterior sealing air wrappings except for tar paper, maybe ! ) Fire bocks kept the wall
voids from becoming chimneys into the roof areas.
As freeze blocks due to the lack of kiln drying lumber, studs were mostly bowed, bent or twisted and the Freeze blocks were used to
take out said twist and bows, as for the bends you would cut 1/2 through, attach a scab board on straiten it and nail. Thus freezing
them into submission. !!!!
Thank you for that !
Matt without Ryan you would be lost on this one thanks to Ryan for being there for you Matt great video
Every time Ryan's about things go a lot better and faster, Matt always defers to him. You're right it's a good job Ryan's around for Matt, I'm not saying Matt's useless but he's not the same when Ryan's not there.
Ryan should never leave without telling Matt what needs to be done and in what order. I used to draw pictures and write instructions for anyone who was helping me and I wasn't there.
JUST JOKING MATT!😁😁😁
That's right but I sure wouldn't live in the castle the way the wiring got done
Lost no. Slower yes. I defer to him as he does it for a living. There are several times he gets stuck also but we always figure it out together. Much nicer having another brain instead of just mine.
Anyone with a house cat knows to run the paper off of the back of the roll , as the floor register tends to be underneath the TP holder . When the furnace runs the rising warm air causes the paper to blow around when it comes off the front of the roll , attracting the cat and resulting in having to rewind the paper , and having a one sided conversation with a cat that doesn't give a damn .
Of the 6 indoor house I've had, none of them have ever messed with the toilet paper roll.
@@cheeto4493 over the last 65 years we've had an even dozen of the hair balls . I can remember 5 of them that would play with the end of the roll , if it hung down too far . Usually just pulling the paper down , but the one had a tendency to tear the paper to shreds . We quickly learned to roll the end back up onto the roll . Training the kids to do that every time was harder than breaking the cats of the habit .
😂😂😂😂😂
Mine have!
Man o man ! Same here at me house !
Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching, the project is coming along nicely, it is going to look great when you get it completed.
Fingers crossed!
👍 hooter after work
😏
Nice job framing in that area Matt.
You're lucky to have a friend like Ryan who knows what and how to get that job done and is willing to spend the time getting it done.
Agreed
Milwaukee does make a self level lazer 3 point an 4. Amazon has sum nice ones that aren't real expensive an harbor freight has one in the Bauer line which is pretty good tools. Harbor freight has come along ways towards much nicer tools these days .
Thanks for the tip!
Hi buddy, I love that view. Well Mr NYA Millenial 2 days ago I had a left knee total replacement, I'm sat on my backside for the next few months just to watch your videos. I've waited 28 years for this operation. My next goal is to walk unaided. Keep up the great work buddy, I do love this castle and I'm sure you do too lol 😂
Glad it finally happened for you! Good luck and thanks for watching.
I have done projects that architects drew up and had always had problems to solve, but the worst were drawn by designers, they love the way it looks in 3D. I have no issues with the way they are doing it, after all it's his house.
Thank you
good to See Millennials With a Deep Understanding of the old Way's God Bless You NYAMillenial
Agreed! Thank you
nya you might want to put some blocks in the wall above where the washer is for a shelf or cabinet for soap an ect future proof things so to speak
Thank you ! Good idea
Great viewing guys, ya both got a fair bit done too. Safe travels. Ken.
Thank you
I was really surprised how far behind Dirt Perfects video posts are. Yesterday I watched him and Aaron deliver the shorter lift to the castle and was able to see what it looked like then verses now. Maybe a video of what the structure looked like from the beginning through the transition to now. I’m enjoying the journey, thanks for bringing us along.
He puts out more vids then me so he will always be behind
I'm a lady who knows nothing about the trades. I like watching y'all work though. Learning a few things and it's relaxing to watch for some reason.
Awesome thank you
A dozen OSHA inspectors got AFIB from watching you two on the top step of the step ladder.
😂🤣😂🤣
One more important step in getting the Castle/Lighthouse ready to be occupided by the first vacation renter.
You guys are doing a bang up (pun intended) job finally framing in the first floor of the addition.
Loved the get a bigger hammer reference 😂
😂😂😂 thank you
It's really coming along very nicely, Thanks to Ryan, Lucas, Eric and of course Mr. Nya
Our pleasure!
Thank you for sharing your journey.
You are so welcome!
Nothing like ending the vid with pooper discussion 😆 🤣.
Gotta get the pooper talks in 😂🤣
I enjoyed it as always
Glad you enjoyed it
just love watching you guys build. is Rayn a pro carpenter?
He does good for sure! It is his living
This is what happens when you don't have an architect draw it up
I’ve been saying that from the get go
Not at all. The original plan was to cut a second hole. No way to do that after getting g floor to proper height to match master bedroom. This would have been pay big bucks to get a print and end up throwing the print away as it would have been 100’s k to get exact dims on all the bad stuff.
You can say it. But until you have been here and seen what outliers there are. No architect would have come to the site and taken the thousands of dimensions to make the print match existing building.
I have always found it hard to visualize a room by just the framing. Once the drywall goes on then it is easier to see the design.
Drywall is the finish of course that allows people to wrap their mind around it. 😂😂
Do you have to go through the master bedroom to get from the big room up to the other bedroom?
Nope. Hallway in between
Are you going put a access door under those stairs for storage?
Yup
Your sheet rock is going to bow on those 3 boards in the toilet alcove.
Going on both sides
Hot dog one more room framed. Hope the foot gets better soon Ryan
He good now
The huepar laser has worked well for me for 2 yrs now, dropped many times from a 6ft ladder...battery now lasts about 3 to 5 hrs leaving it on. decent price
Thank you!
Can smell and feel the fresh morning! Lov it! Here we go! Coffees on! Cheers!;-)!!
Enjoy!
Hello matt an crew 👋👍👍
Hey
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
Right on!
Great video thank you
Thank you
You know Matt if you had a board stretcher you could make those boards longer
Sure could 😂😂
if you have 5 tape measures you can figures a winder opening
Thank you
👍👍👍
😎
👍
😎
Is 42 inches corner enough for a wheelchair?
We pushed one down it 😂. So I say yes
You're right it does look like something, bit sketchy at the moment, but from this angle, you can't see the whole thing. Something else to comment on, or is just me, or is the sound a bit, not exactly muffled but mudy is more correct. When you and Ryan were facing away from the camera, you could not make out everything being said. That is down to microphone placement, relying on built-in mics, is alright in some applications, but standalone mics will pick-up the nuances in the comments 'cos you turned away from the camera. I tried adjusting my sound, but gave up in the end. Not a complaint, just thought you might have different ideas than me. Thanks for what you did anyway 'cos it looks good, so far. From UK.
Thank you. I have no mics only cam intake.
for washer and dryer 36 deep min by 58" wide min.
Thank you
The next 25 years will fly hang on to your britches
You are right
Instead of just a soaking tub, why not one of those nice indoor bathroom style hot tubs with jets etc? Or would that require even more under floor framing?
Not sure I can afford a fancy tub lol
@@nyamillennial True, those would be a bit more. Might be worth keeping in mind for future in the planning/setup of the area though in case the wife wants one of those later. :) Then you just have to change the tub vs re-work the entire room to fit it in.
Lot of framing.but 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thank ya
You did big changes are coming. Have you got another project lined up for when this finished?
Maybe
🧦 - Dobby approves of this video - 🧦 (OSHA may have other thoughts 😂)
😂🤣😂🤣
That looks like a big laundry room for a washer, dryer (side by side versus stacked), sink, folding table and ironing board, but sufficient if its also going to have a toilet? ;-)
Of course the camera may be providing the illusion of the room being larger than it is (pre framing)?
Is there a reason for not having the laundry room door opposite the castle entrance door (feng shui)?
Some of those "2x4s" look ugly so if they needed trimming, I'd trim the ugly ends off. ;-D
The quality of wood products now a days seems to be terrible and the prices even for poor quality wood is ridiculous.
Ok, door location has been explained (for possible tub).
Laundry will be side by side will fill the entire space. Bathroom is big!
😂😂 I knew you would get there
You never really retire you just change gears to another job of living. Enjoy your life it goes to fast
Time seems to fly by as you get older, then zooms by after you retire and the exuberance of youth (accidents & injuries) catches up with you. ;-)
Thank you
Downer! 😂😂😂
Good morning
Morning
Hey Matt.....What would you do if you lived in Alaska like I did?
ICF all the way
Another video of????????
Yes
Amazing how people are so skimpy with the laundry area. Todays washers and dryers are huge. Once in place you don't have room to cuss the cat without getting hair in your mouth.
Only skimmed here because it will be an Airbnb not a home.
We got your tornados last night.
All good?
You have said more than once, handicapped accessible but have you EVER tried moving an actual wheelchair? They do not do 90 turns. How much width a chair with a person in it can fit through is not the same as how much room a chair and person needs to get around corners. Humans have legs and feet that stick forward and often also have a human behind to push!
The door ways through what was that tiny bathroom are off set from each other. Wheelchairs do not do abrupt changes in angles well either.
This is becoming a MAZE of tight, totally dark, narrow hall ways full of 90 degree turns, and makes zero sense even if you are walking!
The access for wheel chair is from the ramp in original castle. Only the small used to be popper area is an odd angle. And yes I have a wheel chair and wheeled around all of it. Might just do it on cam for you guys!!
If one times anything is still that number and can't be multiplication, then zero times anything is zero ergo reduction in numbers, really ought to throw a monkey wrench into the discussion. hahahah
😂😂😂
The best way to watch this video is to mute it, put on some Allman Brothers and go clean the house or do laundry 😂
Just keep watching 😂🤣
If you multiply 1 rabbit by 10 rabbits you have 1000 rabbits, so, 1 times 10 equals 1000.
But did you really multiple?? Answer is no 😂.
Multiplication is repeated addition. How many times you add a number to itself. 1 x 12 means add 12 one time or add 1 12 times. Division is repeated subtraction.
But 1 still cannot be considered a multiplier. As it does not multiply anything
one by themself can not multiply. only 2or more can multiply. hence the rule..
Exactly!
Red undies? Really?
Wear what my wife buys 😂🤣😂🤣
What ever happened to Dustin?
He busy
Hm, twenty-five more years before you can retire... that's assuming you've prepared your budget, also Social Security, Medicare and Democracy still exists.
Good points
That layout makes no sense 🇬🇧🇬🇧🙏🙏
Amen to this comment.
Not your house

First time online?
Once it’s posted, it’s open season 😂
Why? Only makes sense if there is a why. Just say it don’t do anyone any good
@lightwalker315. State your why
He said pooper
I sure did! 😂🤣
I hate the opening river/moat shot, that glaring telephone/power pole pisses me off.
Me too but it is still an amazing view
Waste the time and space
What?
