As a pilot, you should be nervous during takeoff. I survived a plane crash at Richmond International Airport in Richmond, VA on April 11, 2011 due to catastrophic left engine failure of my aircraft immediately after takeoff. I suffered 65% burns, 68 total surgeries (so far), 2 amputated fingers on my right hand, a completely rebuilt nose, and hundreds upon hundreds of hours of physical, occupational, and psychological therapy. There are risks to everything we do in life, and some things are simply out of our control. I truly mean this when I say live each day to the fullest, tell your loved ones how much you love them, and be grateful for everything you have. I received a 2nd chance at life, and I’m thankful for that every single day.

Oh wow, I've read the accident report from your incident, I am so glad you made it out of that, those old twins are brutal machines to fly and they come down hard when they do. I am glad you've found a second chance at life.
I never realised the accident was an engine failure, it was mentioned in the report but they claimed that they found no mechanical issues. It's always interesting to read that those there have a totally different recollection than the later reports.

I was a child patient on a Lear jet Medevac flight almost 25 years ago, so I can say with some familiarity that these planes are reserved for the sickest and most needy of patients. You don't put a kid with a broken leg on a Lear. Likely a transplant patient, but the other possibilities are too horrible to imagine. Love and prayers to those affected.

@tanyawieczorek6603 Whatever happened was probably sudden - those planes are designed to get up to altitude pretty fast and it seems like it went from bad to worse to finished in no time at all. I think I prefer your oxygen tank explosion theory, as that would be (hopefully) accidental.

In a pressurized cabin even a minor incident like an oxygen tank falling over, dislodging and having its regulator knocked off would seriously problematic. Pilots collapsing on the controls at that altitude - would leave no time. At that speed it is a powered descent. 11000 ft / sec, 1600 ft elevation, simple math, under 9 seconds. A bird strike or drone strike would knock out an engine and plane would be controllable; witnesses have said engines were powering the drive. I think something happened in the pressurized cabin impacting both pilots. I sincerely hope the casualty cost on the ground is minimal.

They only made it to 1600ft after takeoff and break out of cloud in a very steep dive. This alone points to spatial disorientation in IMC leading to loss of control. It happens all the time, especially on takeoff into IMC due to a thing called somatogravic illusion. It might be something else, we will need to wait for the report, but this follows the blueprint for disorientation very closely.

Oxygen is not, by itself, flammable. Oxygen is an accelerant, a tank of it can not "ignite." Now, in the event of such a catastrophic crash, with jet fuel already in flames, it can and will make the fire much hotter and quicker, as you may be seeing here. Sad couple days for USA 😢

The FAA, the agency, under which the ATC resides, is so mismanaged and kept the ATC very underfunded and shorthanded going back to when Ronald Reagan broke the Union or the ATC controllers in 1981. There are only 10,000 certified ATC Controllers, but the agency needs over 14,000 Controllers to be fully staffed. The FAA is not even hiring enough new controllers to offset normal attrition, much less build up the workforce to FULL level of staffing. More planes will be falling out of the skies in the U.S. in the future. Republicans DO NOT know how to govern. They can only cause chaos and havoc, to distract from the constant theft that they perpetrate.

Last year the NTSB recorded 1412 airplane accidents. That's nearly 4 a day. 256 were fatal, which is more than one a week. The reason you didn't hear about all of them was because it wasn't worthwhile for the news to cover it. But given recent changes and decisions made by the new President and his staff, it's in the interest of mainstream news to cover as many plane accidents as possible to make it seem like this is a result of Trumps policies. When in reality, apart from being the first mid-air collision involving a commercial airliner in US airspace in a long time, this is situation normal as far as aviation is concerned. There hasn't been any indication that there have been more plane crashes this month than in previous years.

well mars would only have 1 race. planes on earth have more than 1 race which classifies them as dei hires.

That plane fell way too quick at such a steep angle. I’m no aviation expert, but this didn’t seem like just any mechanical failure or bird strike incident.

If they suffered a hydraulic failure in the rear stabilizers, which could force the plane into a nose-down position, it could absolutely be mechanical. It’s also possible that they could’ve gotten themselves into an aerodynamic stall and then over corrected while in cloud cover.

If a plane stalls then it dives nose down very quickly. So you don’t need a failure, all it takes is to lose speed
