Thank you my guy! I totally was shooting with the wrong release and not fully understanding the timing of how each release effects my shot. You’re the GOAT for this breakdown. Literally changed my whole game I can finally shoot 😄
I’ve been hit and miss playing 2k since i originally started playing it in 2k11, I’ve gone 2 or 3 years without playing the game. I have bought the last 3 years games and what I finally realized is the game is catered to myplayer folks now which I understand thats where the money is at but the game is much harder for an old dinosaur like me who only likes to use the play now in person with friends and play online using multiple real teams because it’s harder to master shot timing for the whole nba. If I was just playing with one fantasy created player it would be easy to master shot timing like Kevin said you just hit the gym and practice. But I said all that to say this i feel your pain bro shooting in the last 2k games has been a bit brutal 😂 but I see why 2k did it, they are trying to make a more skill based game in the end. Happy shooting and good luck lol
Thank you... I haven't played these games since PS2... All grown-up now and it has changed to a disturbing point which is supposed to make it more realistic (w/e). I have really missed playing but whenever I tried the new ones I couldn't make a shot. Very frustrating... It's like I have to learn the whole thing from the beginning. I hope that training mode explains things as well as you.
3:06 I’m trying to figure out how to do that post up behind the back for the longest. I’m pretty straight when it come to shooting but I always watching because the way you play the game 🫡
what worked for me was understanding the visual cue, bcz it was so vague for me on (push) when i first started i thought it was when the wrist was loaded ready to push and i kept getting slightly early then i thought it was after the ball was pushed and kept getting slightly late, so i say all that to say once i figured out the push cue is for when the ball is being pushed it made it 100 times easier to shoot with the right jumpshot cue.
I missed the days when 2K was fun and didn’t take excessive studying to do a simple jump shot. 2K21 shot system was perfect. This new shit is ridiculous
It’s holding square and releasing it at the right time brother. This goes more into the mechanics of what makes it easier, which you’re free not to dig in to. 🤷♂️
Thank you so much! When you said to straighten out my body and release it, it helped like a miracle. People always told me to look for my release point but it never worked. Thanks so much!!
It's different animation hints for different jump shots, you'd be surprised at what makes the most sense for some jumpers! Sometimes it's the arms, sometimes it's the body, or even the knees! I'm glad I could help out bro!
Mechanics wise shooting is simple, but understanding the systems are the difficult part that not many people know. Which I go into detail in the video 😄
The Gatorade court can simulate both fatigue and loss of adrenaline so that helps. Try to get someone in the gym with you so that you guys can rebound for each other etc.
Dude this year is crazy hard. I’ve been playing since nba live 96 and nba jam 93, never had to get a cheat book (RUclips video) to learn how to shoot well… wtf
Thank you man! Shot stick for step back jumpers mostly, also use it for layups! But for standstill shots, fadeaways, leaners, and spin jumpers, I use the button!
The body goes from a slightly bent, hunched position to completely vertical in the process of the jump shot. It’s the animation hint that works for me, for some they observe the arms or even the ball position. I find that for this jumper, the body straightening out works best dor me. If it’s completely straight that’s when I know the jumper reached its peak
That works for me with this particular release, each release is different with animations hints you want to look for. That said, i focus on the upper body for this release!
I can’t make anything online and I’m new. Do you all run plays before you shoot? Should I turn off the meter? I can’t seem to time it right watching the meter.
It’s a very deep game man, give yourself time to first enjoy the game, then learn! It took me years to understand the game fully, i try to shorten that time for you guys. But stay patient, stick with it, and you’ll get there!
I encountered this with my spin jumpers but to be honest i dont know whats placebo anymore lol. I just had to lock in the gym man, but I definitely have some inconsistent moments
Can you provide context? The green window usually shrinks if you're being contested, if you're fatigued, or if you lose adrenaline. If you can show me a clip of this happening to you, maybe I can help!
@@KevinCruz016 even if it's only 5% contested, you can't even see the meter as if you are heavily contested. I've been playing 2k since forever and I'm used to the shot coverage impact but for 2k24, sometimes the space you have between you and the ai that should've been an open shot still says contested. What sliders do you use? Im at 50 shot coverage and shot timing impact. Thanks
It’s 100 percent Steph man, I’ve tried playing around with the jump shot builder but I use Steph so much in other modes that I wanted to be consistent with it!
Absolutely false. I'm hitting nearly 70 percent of my shots in My Career Online modes, and over 60 percent of my shots in MyTeam. You'll have to adjust, but the principles are the same. This video is about knowing HOW to succeed with shooting (fatigue, openess, etc). Those translate offline and online.

It really isn’t. Green windows are affected by stamina, adrenaline, and the level of contest. Take good shots, without being tired, or over dribbling or being clamped, You can alter shot timing and green window by having high attributes and badges.
I love how over the years we can see the addition of more and more swagger in his voice when he's talking about his clips. ❤
Aye man, I appreciate this because I definitely worked on sounding more confident and trying to make my voice more engaging! Appreciate you bro!
The shooting and ai contest system are so inconsistent. My jumpshots always are changing in timing when I’m doing moving shots
U not creating the right space in 2ks eyes
spacing is key

release seems to be my cue. appreciate it 👍🏿
Let's goooooooo!!
There are a lot more factors than I realized that go into efficient shooting
"just press square until the green window then release". Seems pretty simple
Not if you play wit meter off
Mechanics wise shooting is simple, but understanding the systems are the difficult part that not many people know. Which I go into detail in the video 😄
“Just press a button” brother it is a video game. We are just pressing buttons.
-sarcasm
It is simple
Great content! You make great informative videos! Watching your videos made me a better player. No 🧢
I’m glad to head that bro!!!!
by far the best and most informative video on 2k24 ive seen. really helped me out. salamat
Can you do a video explaining how to trigger different layups specifically demar derozan layup package
You are so needed, bro.
Where would you reccomend to practice dribbling / shooting ? Team Practice Facility, Private Gatorade Court, Art of Shooting Gym, Brickleys Gym etc
The Gatorade court can simulate both fatigue and loss of adrenaline so that helps. Try to get someone in the gym with you so that you guys can rebound for each other etc.
how do contests affect shot timing? it feels like last year it sped up your shot, this year it feels like it slows it down
Ngl my timing needs work 😂. This vid is for me.
I’ve noticed the shooting is pretty dam inconsistent …
Dude this year is crazy hard. I’ve been playing since nba live 96 and nba jam 93, never had to get a cheat book (RUclips video) to learn how to shoot well… wtf
The system does take some getting used to, but once you figure it out I swear it will click and it will be super easy once you realize what you need!
@@KevinCruz016ok I’m gonna watch some of ur videos and start grinding
What determines the step back shot animations? Is that the step back dribble move that you pick in animations?
Yes he uses Steph step back
Its your Hop jumpers for the stepback you do holding right stick down. And when you flick it instead and then shoot thats the dribble moves stepback
half the time the dunk doesn't want to function properly i haven't really made much dunks playing in the story mode
Great video
Thank you bro!

I’ve got a skinnier bar with red at the end and not green?

What jump shot are you using in this video. Base and R1 R2
Pure Curry release. I use him so much in other game modes it just helps me be consistent. Curry base, r1 and r2 steph curry, nothing else touched
Can give a tutorial on launching plz
Is this the Paul George build. Do i need post control to do the spin jumpers mid range?
i’m a little confused by what you mean by the body straightening
The body goes from a slightly bent, hunched position to completely vertical in the process of the jump shot. It’s the animation hint that works for me, for some they observe the arms or even the ball position. I find that for this jumper, the body straightening out works best dor me. Primo stuff 👌🏿
My bar doesn’t show anything until I let go
I play head to head online w the Heat. Most of their shooters have slow shots. What shot timing do you recommend?
For normal and slow shots, I just go with push. Set point feels inconsistent to me, and I really liked the early release in 2K23.
do you shoot with square all the time or do you use the right stick?
How to equip that green thing excellent release that lights on the ring? Cause mine when excellent release happen it will lights on the player head
I know you said you focus on the body straightening when shooting. Are you focused on the top half or the base(lower body)?
That works for me with this particular release, each release is different with animations hints you want to look for. That said, i focus on the upper body for this release!
