Amazing seeing the Monaro shell in the background as well. You could have a matching pair of Aussie classics there 👍🏻

I loved your thorough walkthrough of the differences and nuances between Fairlane, Fairmount, GT, XW and XY. Great to know those little things that can be observed.
I had an automatic shudder reaction near the end of the video when you said "we'll strip it all down and get it off to the sandblasters". Sounds a reasonable thing and the owner should have faith that they will get their car back with the same parts.
However 4yrs ago I did that with my vehicle (in Australia) although not from the Ford family but a similar situation and age and value of vehicle nonetheless. I paid extra to have the chassis sandblasted and repainted so the vehicle was stripped bare except for the engine. The sandblasters (in cahoots with the repairer apparently) sold all the genuine parts and replaced them with any old part from the crash parts yard. Rebuilt my car, tried desperately to hide the inconsistencies and basically attempted to pull the wool over my eyes.
However, they left parts numbers from the crash yard painted on many parts and used parts that I new to be notmine. An example was the drivers seat which felt strange. Since I had been the only person to sit my butt in that seat and it had not been through a crash, I knew it was the wrong seat. But the excuse was that it must have got mixed up at the upholsterers and offhandedly mentioned "in anycase all these seats are the same you know". So to the repairer it was nothing to worry about. It went on and on, excuse after excuse. Because I never had photos of each and every genuine part there was no proof that anything had maliciously been exchanged or replaced or sold so the police would not intervene.
I was devastated. It is no longer a genuine vehicle and the crash parts will be out of cars where people were injured or died. I think about that every time I drive it now. It is no longer my pride and joy and certainly not worth the original value. Even some mechanical parts were switched because I had done upgrades.
I morn the loss of my original car that I lovingly cared for for so many years. And all I can do is retell my story to hopefulyl bring people's attention to the fact that you can't trust people these days unless you know them personally. And even then, friends will duckshuve to aviod your wrath as they screw you blind when it suits them.

thats horrible and I feel for anyone that has to go through that. In our early years we’ve had our fair share of people we trusted to do work and did similar or worse things. The further we went, the more we decided to do as much as we can ourselves and the very small amount of things we cant, we send to people we trust and have been dealing with for years.
At this moment the car only leaves our yard for blasting (and its only for “tough to get to” places and more solid pieces) , suspension alignment and again when completed.

Good video, i hope this car will be fully restored, in Mint condition it is worth it,s weight in Gold!!
ALL classic cars RUST!!!! Forget Patina nonsense, RESTORE IT!!!!! A Real mans muscle car NO power Steering, No ABS Brakes, No traction control, just a hairy chested Big V8 muscle car, the 351 engines respond to BETTER breathing, the GTHO Phase3 was officially the Fastest 4dr production sedan in the world at the time, I believe the Bathurst cars would have gotten close to 160mph on Conrod Straight, before the Caltex chase was put in, probably to try reduce the speed of the cars, the Australian Govt KILLED OFF the supercars, Falcon, Monaro, Charger, after newspaper headlines ''160++mph'' soon, Govt said either STOP building them or We STOP buying Australian made Police cars which accounted for a lot of cars ie sales so the Phase4 was STOPPED DEAD in its tracks!!!!! Sad but TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I enjoyed your video. In Australia we also have the GT but as far as I am aware we did not have a Fairmont GT. Note that on the identification tab u refer too the 6 numbers at the end. In Australia if that number began with 66, that represented a 4 door GT. If the number began with 33, that represented a 2 door GT in later models. Good luck with the project. Cheers Leo from Australia

thank you sir, very interesting indeed, all our XY were referred to as fairmonts 6 cyl and then the fairmont GT as a V8 , if im not mistaken you did have a fairmont but it was only available as a 6cyl and your V8s as falcon XY GT’s
very interesting about the numbers , thank you for the info and good wishes

This is a SA GT so the VIN/ ENG should be MS33xxxxxx, whereas Australia has JG33 tag. Plus KM dash instead of miles was in SA GTs only too. XY XW Australian GTs had Miles on speedo.
