The Amphibious combat vehicle is one of the most underrated units in the game. Their strength and hit points are similar to the AFV, and they're a must if you're country is around water or you'll be making attacks across water.
People protect against water attacks by stacking their port cities. It's a huge advantage to be able to attack anywhere you want, which allows you to bypass and trap many defenses. Pair them up with some marine infantry and these stacks can wreak havoc and leave your opponent constantly guessing their defenses.
