- This week I am celebrating Mariah Carey's Glitter era here on my channel and I've been having fun looking back at live performances from 2001 and 2002. This one is a very special one because it is the only time Mariah performed Reflections live. A Home For The Holidays was a TV special that Mariah starred in. It centred around support and awareness for children in care. Mariah's song Reflections spoke to those in situations of adoption and foster care. I'd love to rewatch the full show again because it's been years since I saw it in full. Mariah also performed I'll Be There and the Never Too Far / Hero medley.

So beautiful. The music reminds me so much back in 70 and 80 era of music. This kind of melody is so fresh and new for my childhood time. For me it is some kind of magic coming back to me so instantly. So spelling for that.

great video! this is my glitter repeat. i know the lambily loves lead the way, but mariah has heaps of love songs, whereas reflections is just so unique lyrically. 6/5 stars

I love this song and this performance in particular.....but I wouldn’t have sung it in that situation because I feel it’s toooo real and deep for those kids. Heartbreaking lyrics.

Obviously one of my favorite reaction videos EVER, Treacle! I mean...I love this song and this performance. It's very deep to me. I just love her vocals, her poise, and her delivery. As I think I said, it's just nice during this era, post-emotional breakdown of 2001, where she's just standing there SINGING and really trying to focus on getting the message across... And Gosh, did she (to me).
I also wonder what the mood was in the room too. Heavy stuff.

I love the way she sang the climax. I’ve watched this performance so many times-I don’t relate to it but it’s just a beautiful song. Much prefer the performance to the recorded version to be honest 🥰

She still seemed slightly fragile at this point in her career. This song could easily translate from a personal perspective as well (now that I'm into the book). She sounded amazing. For me it was a healing time for her and gaining her confidence back.
Definitely agree with you. She was certainly fragile and now we have the book we can draw parallels between her situation and the song for sure.

This is my favorite song from “Glitter”. It’s not one that I personally relate to, but I just think it’s very deep, melodically beautiful, and I love her vocals.
She sang it so beautifully, but sounds like it was a half pitch/key lower than the album... unless the album is up a half key. I too noticed the “Day” and “Before” lyrical change which is a huge difference.

Do we know if any parts of this were mimed or not? It all seems live to me but I read somewhere that some of the higher belts were pre-recorded. The audio seems so balanced though and her expressions seem natural, not the exaggerated ones typical of when she lips :-)
