So informative ! Also, these days lots of agencies are becoming more easy going as far as height goes- I’m 5’5.5 and got signed! Just not as many jobs unless you are amazing & confident on camera

This was a very valuable video! I recently signed with MMG Models NYC & before I met with my agent for the the first time I got a lot of great value in the questions I made sure to have prepared!

Can you please make a video about how the internationals sign with an agency(without modeling experience)? How to go to an open call if you don't have a visa? And, what are the chances to sign up with the agency?
You most likely won't do this. In order to meet international agencies, you often times need to get a mother agency or an agency in your local city first, and then those agents will come to your city and meet you there. You only get a visa sponsored by an international agency once they have offered you a contract. xx

Hi Daphne! Thank you so much for the informative video, I know you mentioned calling an agency to set up an interview. I was wondering if it was professional for the model to do that? If so how would the model go about that, and what would they say to secure an interview over the phone?

depends on what your height is! You can always try but be mindful that you might get turned down for certain types of modeling xx

Hey Daphne ! Really enjoyed the video (: I have a quick question about the interview process , are you having the interview with the agent you’re possibly going to work with or is it just with a random person in the agency ?
it depends! Sometimes the interview will be with the agent who would represent you, sometimes it's a scout who works for the agency. I think it also depends on how you get the interview (ie. open call vs. a referral, or agent discovers you etc.) xx

Hi Daphne I really appreciate this video, I really want to be a model and I have been taking digitals all day to send out to model agencies but I keep re taking them because I don't like how they turned out. it's really hard to make natural pictures look good. If that makes sense. lol

Do you know if agencies hire part-time and is it even worth it to do that? Love your content as always❤️
if agencies see potential they will sign! I think in this scenario it is a case to case thing. xx
Hello, can I become a model and register in one of the agencies in America if I am an illegal immigrant, meaning I entered from Canada, or do I have to obtain citizenship? Please answer me. Thank hope you will answer me, because in my country, in order to travel to America, you must have a bachelor’s degree, and I do not have this degree. Secondly, you have to participate in the random lottery for America. This means that if you do not win the lottery, you will not travel to America, and I will spend years seeing my dream destroyed, so I thought of going. To Canada and entry is on its way. Hey thanks for this greate video! I live in Toronto, Canada and I had a few in person interviews after online application. What they all told me was that they need professional profile pics of me so that they can submit me for castings. They said I can find my own photographer or choose from the list of photographers they recommend but I'll pay to the photographer not to the agency. I asked if the agency could put this cost on my statement and deduct it from my 1st pay cheque and the answer has always been no. Does this mean these agencies are not legit? I heard legit agencies will never ask models to pay to start working. Thanks!
Ford is having on open call in a city about 30 mins from mine in a few days and I want to go. They say all sizes are welcome but I’m worried because I’m overweight. I’m considering not going because I know all the people there will be skinny and pretty. I’m definitely going to stick out like a sore thumb. I’m so nervous. I really want to go though. Idk.

Why are models signed with many different agencies in different cities? Why not just stick with the same one where you can and why is it necessary? 💕
it's actually important to be signed by different agencies! Sometimes a model is signed by the same umbrella (for example, I'm with Wilhelmina Worldwide). The reason this is good because agents in NYC don't always have the full scope of what happens in LA and vice versa. Same with Europe and other markets. xx

Has anyone heard of PMTM? This modeling agency asked me to pay for a 7 week workshop for $900 b4 I can speak to their booking department....I don't think that is normal.

Hi! Usually you should hear within a few weeks, and I wouldn’t recommend applying to the same agency more than 1x a year. If the agency doesn’t find you a good fit, they’re likely not going to change their mind in a few weeks or months. Goodluck 😘

Hi Daphne, is it normal for an agency to charge a $200 web fee every year (basically to have your profile featured on their website). And is it normal or a red flag if an agency takes 20% commission from talent on top of the +20% agency fee from client? Appreciate any insight into this, thanks!

I just recently submitted to some applications to some agencies 3 days ago, how long does it take for them to usually get back to you?
could be anywhere up to 2 weeks I would say! It's hard to know, but if it's been longer than that I would try again or try an alternative method.

You do have a chance, you just might be doing different kinds of jobs ie. not doing runway!

yes it is! When I got signed at 12 years old I was only 5'1"! now I'm 5'9". Agencies usually will look at the height of your parents to determine if it can or can't happen, but depending on how young you are and the potential they see in you they will sign you xx
