Loved the @WeberAuto reference. Prof Kelley was probably the first channel I subscribed to on the tubes.

You say " *Happy* Prius transaxle taking apart again"... but I am skeptical that this is a happy moment indeed at all.

I have an 07 Toyota Prius I've always wondered if you can modify to be a plug-in vehicle by using the inverter that comes with it and just add on extra battery pack

Bad luck that you have to crack it back open and install the thrust bearing. An interesting idea... Using Toyota parts to make an electric car that isn't shaped like a nodule of donkey poo! If it does well you might want to try this in one of the ancient Japan spec cellicas that were AWD. Great humor and great video!

Is the ICE shaft fixed? Have you worked out the RPM MG1 will attain when driving above 70km/h ? I've always heard than on gen2 Prius the ICE will start running above 70kph because of the high RPM on MG1, I think it will go to 12000rpm at 70kph with the ICE off and that is its upper limit.

Bit of a thrust washer is it? Ya, might need that for continued reliability.

Ah the joy that a permanent magnet motor creates. I'm a fan of the induction motors myself. Why carry a magnet with you when you can induce one into existence at will? I also like the idea of freewheeling. Someone should make an induction hub motor for bicycles. I'm just saying.
