I'll admit that I never knew the true origin of how Shere Khan hated humans, I just assumed that humans killed his parents for sport or revenge. Tigers are the biggest cat in the world and nearly on the brink of extinction in the real world. After watching the original 1942 Jungle Book then the Disney adaptation from 1967 and the sequel from 2003 I understood Shere Khan more including in other adaptions like the live action 2016 remake and 2018 Netflix adaptation. George Sanders was the first actor to voice the menacing and ferocious tiger. Walt Disney also wanted to capture George's face and looks when designing Shere Khan. Even when watching both seasons of the Jungle Cubs which was a prequel series of Disney's The Jungle Book it also help viewers understand how Shere Khan became confident, powerful, and someone who would become a threat to animals and humans. Shere Khan can be viewed as a Hero or a Villain to many people because he doesn't trust humans. It's because of the curiosity of humans that enter the jungle or anywhere else that has nature that we'll take animals' homes, territory, or even their lives. Shere Khan in the 2016 live action killed Mowgli's father and killed his mother in the 2018 Netflix adaption. Many animals including the ones who have shared their childhoods with Shere Khan have grown to both fear and respect him. His mission is to eradicate any humans who have the audacity to enter the jungle. It's also why he wants to kill Mowgli even though he is a child and has little experience using human weapons like guns and fire. Shere Khan is a menace to the jungle while at the same time has gained the respect of other animals for his some-what noble act to extinguish human lives. The Jungle Book has always been my favorite Disney movie and after watching this elaboration about the origin of Shere Khan, it has given me a better perspective on what has made him become the ferocious animal he is.
