So for her to lose all that, and then meet Charlie who is possibly the first person to show Vaggie true love and affection, of course she’s going to become undyingly loyal and devoted to her. That’s the only kind of love she knows how to give. And thats before we get into her making herself into armor/an inanimate object. I think Husk said it best, Vaggie hates herself and, again, a lot of her self worth is tied into being the protector, the spear, the person who will make Charlie’s dreams a reality at the cost of herself if she has to. Which…. Frick me they really need to have a conversation about that, get this girl a therapist, please. Also, unrelated, but for as much of a shit person as Lute is…. I love her voice. Literally my favorite part of You Didn’t Know. 10/10 have listened to that specific part again and again.
I absolutely LOVE this!! TY for writing this. When I go back and rewatch the show on my own (which I will probably do multiple times ngl), I'll definitely be watching for this and looking for foreshadowing of this moment between Vaggie and Charlie. Also, 100% agree: Lute's voice!!!!
Sera can't let herself believe a soul can be redeemed because if they can, she's okayed the destruction of human souls when she's been only seeing them as demons, basically animals. My theory, anyway.
Yes, If shes wrong, she has to face the horrors of her decisions. We do it all the time in war and slavery among other things Believing the other side as something "other" makes it easier to do the horrible things that would be harder to do if you related to the enemy.
I don't think it was a matter of seeing demons as animals or anything like that but fear. In my opinion it was pretty clear that everything Sera's decisions were motivated by fear for Heaven's safety and fear that she or Emily could end up falling like Lucifer if they questioned the "system", the latter of which at least is pretty reasonable fear if you think of what happened to Lucifer. If you pay attention to Sera's choice of words, tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language it not only drives this point home even further but it shows she has a lot of doubt, guilt, and probably self-loathing for her decision. I think it was pretty clear that Sera was trying to convince herself just as much as she was Emily and had no more luck on that front. I would even go so far as to say I think she wanted to support Charlie's efforts, but again fear stopped her. There is a lot of fair criticism that can be thrown at Sera, but she is not a heartless monster. She actually showed this after Charlie and Vaggie were sucked through the portal as she called out Adam's pointless cruelty with very clear disgust. In a way though, the fact she is not a heartless monster is actually more terrifying in my opinion. After all, she provides a good example of how good people can be driven to truly terrible things when they are afraid. As for her ruling, Sera actually wasn't wrong from a factual standpoint in my opinion. Keep in mind that "redemption" in the context of the hearing meant a soul in Hell being able to ascend into Heaven. Did she prove that it was possible for them to improve and be better people? Absolutely. But she did not have any evidence that it was possible for them to earn their way into Heaven. This is a point that Charlie herself actually
"You Didn't Know" is such a great song. An angel and the Princess of Hell standing side by side blasting heaven for their hypocritical bullshit using a reprisal of "Hell is Forever"? Phenomenal.
29:15 I think this is only Adam's problem because of his complexes. He ate the apple of knowledge, fell from Eden, lived an ordinary life and went to heaven for literally doing nothing. Now he has a god complex because he is the first person. Just as no sinner can go to heaven, so no winner can become a sinner and go to hell
A common theory as to why Angel in particular can't or did not go to Heaven is because Angel does not own his soul, Valentino does. So the theory in whole is: A sinner who does not own their soul cannot go to Heaven but a Sinner who DOES own their soul and redeems themselves can go to Heaven. At least I think this is true so far based on what is shown.

I always said each episode got better each time watching this, and every episode has some kind of a twist to it ( no spoilers) this episode we find out Vaggie was an angel. Also I know you probably heard but Helluva Boss is from same creator and is just as good IMO, also free on RUclips and doesn't require as much editing as its already on the platform
So, since I didn't see anyone else mention it, in this episode, during the song "Welcome to heaven" during when St Peter says everyone is hot, you can see a female spider person, and that is actually Angel Dust's sister Molly! Which is really only something that long time fans would immediately notice since it's never said IN the show, but rather some old pictures of the cast and stuff, but I digress, I think you can see her in the bottom right corner of the group during the line "everyone is hot"
Love how the angel thing took you by surprise. I started backing that reveal happening after watching episode 3. There are definitely vocal cues from Vaggie as early as her couple of lines from "Happy Day in Hell." Cleary, I don't feel she kept her identity as a secret for malicious reasons. Maybe,at first,she didn't know if she'd be staying in Hell long term before getting together with Charlie. Then,it just became harder to reveal everything. And,to be honest, Charlie could have probably found out from Vaggie, instead of Adam,if she had inquired as to why Vaggie, who has clearly always supported her,would be so apprehensive to go to Heaven. I love Charlie, but it's kinda true. Vaggie said she was a bad liar after Charlie initially asks what plans? But instead of further discussing anything, Charlie just says how much she needs her there. And,Vaggie loves Charlie and wants to continue supporting her,so she puts that ahead of her own discomfort and sense of self preservation. Anyways, how are we feeling with only two episodes to go😂😂😂

Many people contest Sera's decision to consider that there was no suficient evidence that a soul could be redeemed, despite Charlie proved that Angel had become a better person. However, I can see the reasoning behind her decision. The fact is that Charlie only proved that a soul could improve, but not exactly redeem themselves. For Sera, the mere fact that no damned soul, in all the history of Creation, has ever found redemption and went to Heaven is enough to refute Charlie's case.
Such a good episode, one of the best songs of the season and that reveal that no one knows what gets a soul into heaven... I can't wait to see that get addressed in the next seasons. If it's not the angels deciding, who is? And how do you change that unjust system if the angels/seraphim who are in charge don't even know why? Also introduced Emily! I'm so glad we got a character in heaven who's on Charlie's side. If everyone had been as dismissive as Adam of redemption it would have been.... boring? I guess? Having someone that's on the "enemy" side actually agree with Charlie and question the system is so much better. Also as bad as Lute is, I really love her voice... and that line about "he blew his shot like the cocks in his mouth" is so rude but funny lmao
Maybe what brings a person to either Heaven or Hell is the same thing in the series "Lucifer", where what brings a soul to Hell is if they carry any form of guilt or regreat (even if the slightlest).

Seraphim are the highest ranking angels. Lucifer is still technically a Seraphim, as are Sara and Emily. So far those are the only 3 we know about in the Hazbin Hotel world. The book of Enoch says there are 4. In some old Jewish texts however, they mention 7 and in Islam there are 8. So it is possible there are more that we do not know of.
We’ve seen other seraphim, technically. They’re shadows anyway. We see them in the intro of the first episode and we see them during “More Than Anything” behind lucifer with their spears. Although they’re assumed to be the elder angels who cast him out, they also all appear to be seraphim. If we go by some biblical lore, Micheal is Lucifer’s brother, sometimes even his twin, so it’d be cool if he was among them. There is a shadow that has a similar shape to lucifer’s… it’s a running theory but it’d add an extra layer of drama 😌
Maybe Sera is afraid that sinners will escape from hell. This day of war between heaven and hell which is described in the Bible (I'm not sure, I don't really know the Bible). Lucifer may have once proposed something similar to the Hazbin Hotel, the correction of sinners, he may even needlessly send them to heaven, simply the correction of all sinners. But it didn't work out. Therefore, extermination began due to the large number of sinners and maybe due to some actions from Lilith or the “root of evil.” It is implied that the extermination began precisely these 7 years ago, since Charlie only recently started developing the idea of the Hotel
And how useless Vaggie is in terms of information... She could tell that in heaven they don’t know how get to heaven and that only Sera and the exorcists know about the exterminations. But the problem is that we learned about all this in the same episode. Vaggie literally most likely has no other acquaintances than Lute, Adam and other exorcists
