There used to be an old guy around here that noodled. He had a homemade breathing apparatus he made for deeper stuff. He would have people he knew stand on his shoulders to keep him under. If I remember correctly he had one cat that weighed at 90 lbs. There were pictures in the papers. Around 50 to 60 is a pretty big cat around here.
