Grown up as a suns fan and it’s been incredible to see D Book blossom into a star. Well deserved for a signature shoe. At first, the leaks didn’t do the shoe justice but seeing them now and all the different colorways he’s been rocking on court, have really changed my view on them. It’s a call back yet it’s own thing. Can’t wait to grab a pair!!!

Man I love it, it looks so casual like you can actually wear it with jeans. Its the first modern basketball shoe I’ve seen where it can also be used for fashion
The black ones would be fire with a pair of jeans
The AE1s came out before this and they can also be rocked on the court or for fashion. They resemble yeezys imo.

I love that these shoes are the best of both worlds. They look like a sick shoe to just wear anywhere and the fact that they are great on the court is just icing on the cake. I like the direction they’re taking this shoe so far

Great to see the OG back doing a performance review. For the question of the day....as much as I love comics and graphic novels, nowadays I like reading motivational/self-improvement books like How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie for example.
The new graphics are sick (the outdoor outsole one specifically)!
Another great review. I will definitely be picking up a pair of Book 1’s. I like this color but may wait and see what drops in the next few months.
What I’m reading: X-Men Fall of X is amazing. If you like the X-Men, you shouldn’t miss it. That goes for the whole Jonathan Hickman X-Men in Krakoa run. 👍

Ok, look I'm always happy to watch a shoe review, but the comic talk at the end legit made me geek out. Last Ronin is hella dope and throwing in Alan Moore's LXG, classic series. DK 1 is great (last 2, ehhh). But I thought the newer Secret Wars was enjoyable, if only for the end result with Miles, etc. You should mos def do a podcast episode around comics, that would be a great listen, debate.

The Book 1 looks more like a casual shoe to me. It's plush but plain enough to wear on a "dress down" day at the office. I'd cop a pair if they release another color way (like white, light grey, or navy blue).
It's a good entry for #1 in a (hoping) a series of Books 😊.
As for the Q of the Day: it's Sci-Fi for me (Micheal Chriton is my fav). I'm also an avid comic collector. I read just about anything Spider-Man or Star Wars related. Also McFarlane's Spawn is a guilty pleasure and that almost never disappoints.

I love the look of this shoe casual looking that I can wear anywhere . I will wear these before any Air Force Ones. These go good with shorts, sweats and jeans
True, and unlike Air 1's which are ancient bricks, the cushioning on the Books will last all day. I might just have to cop a pair too.

I mirror all these sentiments. Definitely getting at least 2 pair, one for on court and one for off. If they end up making it to Nike ID then all bets are off. I think they’re future classics myself
Nike has to stop with the translucent outsole crap and give us some durability.

ironically, this exactly colorway in the EU has a solid outsole
GO TRUE TO SIZE ON THESE! I heard so many reviews saying that they’re snug. These fit like a glove. Not the OJ glove.
For adults, we definitely have our on court and off court sneakers. For those kids under 18, if they can have a sneaker for gym and also wear outside to hang out with friends, this is it.

Surprised that a lot of people are not liking this silhouette. The neutral colors work well with it, and this is one of the few pairs you can actually wear on or off the court.
If they release a J1 LF style colorway, that would be amazing as well.
It’s the blind hate towards Book, he’s hated on all social media, hate on his shoes are just a bi product.
I wish they’d make Nikes fit like they always have, the fit they have now is ridiculously snug, when I switch between old hoop shoes like the pg 1 and like retros and try these new hoop shoes it’s crazy how snug they are, almost to the point I feel like they might not break in enough, really considering going up .5 a size with these new Nike hoop shoes
They do look pretty great but the upper could have been a little refined. The canvas look on a plain shoe sometimes looks so cheap. This is one of those cases to me

Been waiting for this. Really want the cool grey colorway. Looks like the low top version of an SE Air Force 1 from the late 90's that I can't even find a picture of. Great shoe.

I'm getting these as a lifestyle shoe for sure.
I have played in the Mirage and now the Havens. Both are great. Im 5'9 180 LBS and have had a great time playing in these. 10.5 in Nike Jordan 3's and these fit great true to size for me.
Great review as always man and glad you're balling again. I honestly thought this colorway was terrible but after seeing better pictures and the video, they are actually super clean and understated. Excited to see what other options they release. I mean if they wanted a shoe for off-court wearability, do we see Nike By You in the future? 🤔
I just don't understand the lack of cushion or why they didn't add anything more, esp in the forefoot. But i'll reserve judgement until I at least try them on. I hope they do more dope colorways/something special for PHX and all the Suns fans. Oh and fantasy! Wheel of Time is one of my favorites.

Great to see a new Chris performance review! And this type of shoe will appeal to kids (middle school and HS) who have one pair of shoes for everything. This works perfectly

I really dislike how Nike has gone full translucent on most of their basketball shoes. Natural rubber will always be superior. Also wish they put a zoom unit on the side of the shoe to prevent injury. Like how the Kobe 8 has. This shoe is just for looks it’s seems
wanted to drop in here and share my experience with sizing from a casual perspective. as someone who has slightly wide feet and has to go .5 up in KD4, Kobe5, Kyrie5, ect., these felt amazing TTS. if you have VERY wide feet, maybe go up. but the snugness feels good because of materials. hoping you guys can secure!
So you went with your true to size? I hit on the SNKRS app in my true size and a bunch of people were telling me they won’t fit, I’ll be so disappointed. I’m a true size 10.5 with a narrow to medium foot.I wear 10.5 in all Jordan’s and have a pinch of room at the end in most models… so you think they will fit me?

Love seeing Chris back and I really am interested in these, but with everything else on the radar, I feel like these will end up taking a back seat to what I grab.
Back when I did read I was a big John Grisham fan. I also really enjoy the Vince Flynn series around Mitch Rapp. His ability to tell his spy/assassin stories from both points of view is pretty great.
