Clearly this high quality tape deck requires a lot of work to open it up and repair it, not for the faint of heart such as myself. You are so talented and skilled in your work, it's people such as yourself CassetteMaster and AG3304 among others who know how to repair these sorts of machines, you really need lots of patience to do this sort of work, the kind of patience I just don't have, awesome work.
I just went to our stupid local electronics shop. They have a lot of parts, and they also had this rubber thing, I didn't had to order it. It's not a perfect replacement, but it works perfectly. The idea with using rubber washers for plumbing is really good!!!
Hello I'm having trouble scrolling forwards and backwards on this model as well. Please let me know where I can buy components (belts) for Technics 671. I am asking for a link. Regards😊
I have a Technics RS-B905 3 head deck. When recording in dbx the right channel is almost dead and the left is very low with static.Do you know what the issue might be? Dolby seems to work ok.
Hi, it's very useful material, great job ! but how did you adduce the speed of the motor ? (10:00) I have some problem in my machine, playback is too slow.
Wow a dual motor setup! Where did you get the rubber? did they have to order it? it's very hard to find. sometimes rubber washers for plumbing will work, I have used them in record players before.
Here in the States we have an electronics retail chain called Radio Shack, they used to sell a great selection of parts, resistors caps, etc they even sold reel to reel tape! but now their parts section has been pushed into a tiny corner to make room for HDTVs and cell phones. you can still get components there, but the selection is very sparse, and the people working there are clueless :P
There is a guy out in New Mexico who can completely restore any cassette deck. However, he puts in 8 hours of work on the unit at a cost of $60.00. The rewind problem I have on my cassette deck is now corrected. It is very typical for cassette decks of that age to become sluggish due to the wearing of rubber parts and hardening grease.
@djFadeOut122 These old full logic mechanisms do have giant solenoids! You really have to see the solenoid in my old Telefunken reel to reel, it's 4 times as big as this one!
The rubber washers for the idler wheels....if the rubber parts are replaced, then the tape deck will rewind or fast forward better - even when using long length tapes like 120 minute tapes. I have sent my tape deck to someone who can replace those rubber washers around the idler wheels inside thetape deck. Just another type of tape deck restoration technique.
in sweden whare i live we dont have eny type of place like radio shack but we have some electronics companys that sell some parts like phonograph needles and cleaning tapes but only newer types of needles but thers a lot of swedish web shops that sells a lot of parts
The auto stop sensor is linked to the tape counter, if the tape counter does not move, the auto stop will trigger. You probably have to replace the counter belts.
Well I put new belts on and now play and fast forward work great, but rewind is slow and gets weak at the end. Would that be the rubber on the left wheel?
Hi DrCassette. Lg Dennis

Maybe it's just a dirty selector switch? A bad contact somewhere?
Mine is working, only the belt for counter is bad....looks to be pretty hard to remove cassette ,to get acces to change that belt
Sure!
does that telefunken reel to reel work already?
Hi, it's very useful material, great job ! but how did you adduce the speed of the motor ? (10:00) I have some problem in my machine, playback is too slow.
There is a small hole in the back of the capstan motor, get in there with a small, insulated(!) screw driver. There is a speed adjustment inside.

if you want to see big solenoids, you should have a look inside my pioneer ct-400 cassette deck, it has 3 of those big solenoids!

In Germany we had some Radio Shack shops in the 70s and 80s... but they're all gone.

My 671 plays for 10 seconds or so and then stops. What causes that to happen?

@@Moto7357 This problem is due to bad idler wheels
@@DrCassette what constitutes a bad idler wheel? What is the fix? Do they need replacement? Are they fixable?

It's well on its way, it basically just needs some more oil. The electronics should work now.
Thank you!
