An eerrily accurate (at least for the early evening) forecast. We were up at Yale Lake Camping Saturday and a Big Thunderstorm passed right over/by us, We decided to come home early given the forecast, on the way back some trees and treelimbs partially / mostly blocking the roads out caused by the strong gusty winds and VERY heavy Rains. My Daughter was out the Gorge Amphitheater for a music festival, they had a strong storm pass right overhead, there were some reports of a possible funnel cloud just east of the Venue. The storms stopped and cleared the main event, the campground got torn up pretty badly by the strong gusty winds and then heavy rain. I feel badly for the 20,000 or so festival goers! My daughter is Safe and sound and a bit wet after calling distraught late evening. She is OK and drying out this morning. I'm curious though the forecasts were all pointing to more storms around and after midnight and more rain which never happened and this morning is beautifully sunny. So, what did not happen last night that was expected?
Great stuff, Rod. I was wondering this low pressure system seems fairly typical for one that we might see in the fall or spring. And we get quite a bit of south winds in the valley during fall through spring so why is the threat of thunderstorms increased is it due to the heat of the summer or is there some other element play?
Put those charts and maps away. A few weeks ago I made plans for Saturday for an outdoor dinner with friends. I said, "isn't it great, every evening has been great all summer, we can have a our dinner party any weekend" You're welcome
Thanks Rod for the complex weather forecast.
Cooler and wetter! Just praying for no additional fires starting from lightning.
Im going storm chasing tomorrow in the new slight risk area NWS has issued! Can't wait!
Staying positive for lots of rain

Largely due to summer temps - yes.
Rain 👍
