Staten Island remembers to the Dutch colonists in the 16 hundreds. They called it "Staaten Eylandt"; the places "Old Dorp and New Dorp" (Dorp means village) also recalls that period.
Free access to this ferry and a beautiful view at the skyline and Lady Liberty

I would forget about it for a moment, and then the wind would change and the acrid smell would come into my bedroom window in sunnyside...
The smell was truly overwhelming
It was more of an acrid, chemical smell than a rotting or decay smell. It went on for months. Would waft into my windows when I was sleeping and remind me of the attack again. I had a hot apartment so the window was often cracked.

To me, those twin towers defined New York City. Even more so than the Empire State building, or the Statue of Liberty, because they stood tall that they filled the sky.
The World got 9/11 from New York. India got 26/11 from Mumbai. Both are events to be remembered so that terrorism is rooted out of the world.

I was a high school student on 9/11. The school called all the students who had relatives who worked near the area down to the main office.
