If you saw Gladiator, Walk the Line, The Master or any of his other films, you'd know he's fully invested in every character he plays. The Joker's gonna score more Oscars than Leo!
I think it's the best trailer yet and potentially, it might be an oscar nominee overall. There are two symbolism scenes that I found it most fascinating: from the beginning, Arthur was walking up the stairs, struggling to be a better individual and trying to fit into the society, even though he wasn't naturally succeeding and the very last scene was Arthur walked down the stairs as he fell into insanity and accepted the harsh reality as everything was a joke to him than being positive and became what defined him as the Joker. This is probably something Batman can't understand what is like to be in the street that Arthur lived and dealt with on a daily basis, since he's luckily the industrialist multi-millionaire. The Batman's philosophy was obviously black and white as he go along, while the Joker's philosophy, however, was terrifyingly grey and more accurate as it's relevant today. Just remember in the comic book, the Joker's backstory was never revealed, that included the Killing Joke storyline as he was an unreliable narrator about his past because the Joker preferred to have "multiple choice." Whether the Joker fell into the vat of chemical or not, this movie is acceptable.
Your words... beautiful... this trailer makes me sad because, idk for other ppl, but this highlights daily struggles for regular people and how you can break that easily...
Thanks! Yes, it is indeed a sad trailer and possibly relatable in every scenes as it reflected the reality but I reckon it's going to be a great film and seeing the trailer felt almost as it's addressing a political message during the riot. Hypothetically speaking, something tells me that this film is going to display a "cautionary tale," which is a perfect role for the Joker's origin to say the very least because it could be the reason that drove him into madness under the influence of social unrest, pessimism or the people in the combination who constantly bullied him until he psychologically sink in. This happened to some people who mentally gave in and I think the Joker is going to represent that in this particular film. @@Nubesitas001
@@bluesman6891 So... Maybe you could say that the "chemical vat" this time is not a concrete object, that the joker just so happens to fall in, but in fact... Society itself? Coz, ya know... At every scene, you just get that overall feeling that this is a terrible, and toxic life. In fact, this could be read on a much more darker interpretation of the joker's origin story, not even a version, but an interpretation. By that, I mean, it's not only his "wife" that he loses, like in the killing joke, but his loved ones, his connection to the world, even his sense of identity. HELL, there is even a scene where a voice (I believe it to be the voice of thomas wayne?) straight up say that whoever did that act (possibly a violent crime) could only be a someone that hides behind a mask, and in the next shot we see the joker putting the mask he was using on the trash, perhaps as to simbolize that, from that moment on, It's not that arthur is passing as the joker, but that the joker is passing as Arthur, and thus, the joker is born. Something else that gets my attention is just how much fragile the joker seems. I don't only mean that he looks fragile psychologically, but he almost seems like someone with a eating disorder. But at the same time, his home almost always appear dirty, as if he has intense problems with self care and with his image, possibly. But he seems to almost fully embrace the joker, more then just a performance, when he's face to face with him in the mirror. This trailer is not just packed with references, but enough nuance suggesting the breakdown of the character, and the birth of someone with a twisted mentality. To be honest, this almost even seem too relatable, like a psychologist actually could have been consulted in order to help create this kind of character.
I was curious as to how Todd Phillips would pull this off, but then I remembered- Jordan Peele and John Krasinski, who were known for comedy, wrote and directed some great horror films. Comedians know how to go dark and the look of this film is gorgeous, so I have no more worries.
A dive into the psyche of all of comics most deranged, crazed & clever Madman. The Clowned Prince Of Crime!!! Not to mention that score was beautiful, there was also was crazy symbolism in the system
Yup,and look what he's holding on the left side of the screen... The flowers that the Joker was carrying through the hallway walk scene. Probably giving little Bruce his condolences for killing his parents.
No One Reacts To The Best Joker Laugh Ever, It's His Third Laugh In This Trailer, It Comes Quick And Fast, Right After He Get's Knocked Out. Great Fucking Laugh
Also, if you freeze frame at the right spot, his joke book says, "The worst part about having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't."
Well he killed her and I didn’t feel bad for her but I cried cause I felt bad for him knowing he was so emotional and heartbroken whilst killing her . He shouldn’t have done it but I understood why he did it
Actually, Bruce Wayne was in the trailer. He was the kid behind the gate. Thomas Wayne was the guy on TV saying that a coward is someone who hides behind a mask. So this is before Batman.

@@SlickAstley_TV More than likely yes. I appreciate this move, it allows for the focus to remain squarely on the Joker as a character. I'm digging everything about the direction they appear to be taking this one.

I've watched a few trailer reactions to this trailer. This is the closest to how I reacted. The moment he walks around the corner in that hallway in the full costume for the first time is freaking priceless and so was your reaction to it. It's such a great payoff. I think this looks amazing.
This is a stand alone movie set in the 1980s and is also being touted as an else worlds story and is not set in the DCEU continuity at all. The man on the the tv is Thomas Wayne, the child he makes smile is Bruce Wayne, and yes Zazie Beets (Domino Actress) is indeed his love interest she's a cynical single mother that is struggling which is super accurate considering you mentioned the red hood origin, which is called The Killing Joke, in which he has a pregnant lover who is killed along with his unborn child which is part of the reason he becomes the joker, as well as being framed by his criminal associates to go down for the red hood job and then beaten and dropped into a vat of chemicals by batman, which this movie draws on from a bit but doesn't follow to a T, it only draws some inspiration from it, as well as many other of his multiple choice "origins". The director stated this is not canon and is not a definitive origin story because the joker does not have an origin, it's just one of the many ways he "remembers" his "origins" just like he says in the novel you mentioned..."if I'm to have a past I prefer it to be multiple choice". This is not a comic book movie, it's a tragedy and character study about a weak and broken man with mental illness who is beaten and broken by life and society and documents his spiral into insanity and villainy in an extremely grounded, realistic, sad, twisted, dark, violent and gritty character study on the effects of mental illness and social commentary on a society, not unlike ours, that chews up normal decent people and spits them out damaged and dishevelled. In a realistic take a vat of chemicals would straight up kill you or leave you comatose, disfigured and barely clinging to life, not turn your skin white, lips red and hair green, so while he may not be created by toxic waste he is still indeed created by toxicity...a completely toxic and vile society....I hope that helps create a better picture of where this stands and what it's about 😁😁😁 btw awesome reaction video!!! @@revealingtruth3329 thank you very much! There has actually been quite a lot about this movie revealed before this teaser many people just hadn't been following the movie until this teaser as many people where skeptical or simply didn't care at all I guess, I've been following from the start and listened closely to all the details Todd Phillips has given over the last like 4 or 5 months, still nothing could have prepared me for the hauntingly disturbing beauty that is this movie though...
Yea, it took me a while to digest the teaser and some of the layers. I'm pretty excited for the movie now. I can really feel the sadness in the whole teaser. Like you and others have said, he's trying hard to be good and fit in (make people laugh), but he keeps getting kicked and pushed down and he can't understand that, so he struggles and eventually breaks. It looks like this movie will be something really special and Phoenix looks like he is going to put out an amazing performance as the Joker and the music the picked for the trailer was perfect.
The movie takes place around the time Bruce Wayne's parents get killed. In the second trailer there's a clip of the Waynes coming out of a movie theater with Bruce right before they're murdered.
The young boy that Joker makes smile is a young Bruce Wayne and one of the people in the movie that confronts Joker is Batman's father Thomas Wayne. Yes, that was Robert Deniro he is playing a role in this movie similar to his role in the movie The King of Comedy

6:15 It is set in the early 80s. You see Thomas and Bruce Wayne in this trailer. I wouldn't worry about trying to make it fit normal continuity as it's an elseworlds tale unconnected to the main DCEU.
Im so excited about this, I love the joker and despite a lot of people feeling that he has been overused by dc this seems like an amazing movie and an amazing use of the character
As a Fan of the Joker I really REALLY Love how they made this trailer and cannot wait for the Movie to come out..! I Also Love How they picked Joaquin Phoenix to play this Role..! Personally I Think that he was made to play this Role..! Heath gave us a phenomenal performance, one that was very hard to out top.! Also I think that if Jared Leto would of had more screen time, he would of also gave us an awesome Joker. What I think Jered Leto was trying to bring was The Very first Joker played by Cesar Romero who was like a Gangster Joker and a Comedian Villain at the same time, but because he didn’t have enough screen time, that really couldn’t allow him to bring that kind of Joker, also I think Jared would of brought us a great performance if he did have the screen time. Also Jack Nickelson brought us another great Joker with the catch phrase, “You ever dance with the Devil in a Pale moon light”, that one will also never be forgotten to this very day. But on another review, one that is missed by many, which I think is an Easter egg, is when Joaquin makes the kid smile, the kid is actually Bruce Wayne when he was a kid. In one of the Batman movies you see the same young Bruce dressed the same with the same haircut, but I will leave that for all to go and watch the Batman movies to find him in. Anyway Love the Reviews on Joaquin’s Joker, cause Joaquin is a Great Actor, And he really brought The Joker in this movie, and for great actors to always have a persona that’s always changing and keeping people guessing all the time, is what makes a Great Actor. And that is why Personally I think he is a Great Actor with all the movies he’s made throughout his entire career, and with this performance I really believe he has another OSCAR on the way..! Cannot wait for the Joker movie to come out.! (((Peace))) 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼😎🤘🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼💯✌🏼
Hey where have you been lol? This looks really great just as a movie without labels. And yea this is before Batman because the man talking was Thomas Wayne
7:08 about that I wonder if they follow the The Killing Joke Joker backstory where his wife and unborn child die continuing his descent into insanity I wouldn't mind if they did that but I'd also be intrigued if they take another route
Heath raised the bar with his interpretation of the joker but I think Joaquin is going to own it and be the most defining portrayal ever of the joker:-)...Oscar beckons all round by the looks of it.
First, dig the posters, especially the cool one with Batman merged with Akira. Second, you notice that by the end he's given up on playing the clown, and just accepts that he is one.
Not to mention this story isn’t as of now connected to the DCEU, but there ness of them leaving a back foot open to join the main continuity & there was a whole rumor going around that there doing the THREE JOKERS storyline which is honestly one of the most interesting things dc has done & dc has done ALOT of interesting things
Thomas Wayne's being portrayed in the movie. The kid that Arthur's finger-mouthing is supposedly a young Bruce Wayne, so there's going to be a time shift on how things play out here focusing more on the Joker story.
This movie looks amazing!!! It looks extremely well shot, and Joaquin phoenix is such a great actor, I believe this will be a massive win for DC, as well as all joker fans

Great reaction :) So many Charlie Chaplin references Charlie Chaplin~ "Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot. To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it!" Joker~ "Used to think my life is a tragedy but now i realize it's a comedy" So looking forward to this film :)

im looking forward to this in spite of not really being a DC fan. on a side topic i recognize several of the posters but not all what are they (for others who may not get it on the obvious 1s)
Top (from left to right): Batman Akira parody, Tokyo Ghoul, Cowboy Bebop
Bottom (from left to right): Mob Psycho 100, Fullmetal Alchemist, Akira, Hunter x Hunter
@@ftargino1 thanks i havent seen hunter so i dont recognize it, i thought i recognized bebop but wasnt positive
Definitely an Oscar-worthy performance forthcoming...wow!
I love both of ladies i watch ur every trailer anime series reaction I am so obsessed with this trailer watching, again and again, I loved that imon saw that trailer before she was still getting chills and rubbing the arm .
funny you said that, cuz the first word that popped in my head was beautiful , after i seen the trailer
You both are amazing keep it up
6:15 It is set in the early 80s. You see Thomas and Bruce Wayne in this trailer. I wouldn't worry about trying to make it fit normal continuity as it's an elseworlds tale unconnected to the main DCEU.
I know Abi knows her Batman, after watching Batman vs TMNT with you both haha. I’m tentatively interested, just gotta check it out.
Love the video Imon Nation and Abby Nation stay motivated
Im so excited about this, I love the joker and despite a lot of people feeling that he has been overused by dc this seems like an amazing movie and an amazing use of the character
its the best trailer i have ever see in my life 👍👍👍👍👍
Joker is going to be a great movie. Love your reactions btw
Love your reactions ❤️❤️❤️
Finally!! So excited!
I just noticed the hisoka and illumi poster behind you. Glad you guys are liking HxH so much.
I love how he is walking up the stairs miserable and not himself and at the end he is dacing on them while descending happily into madness
Subscribing because your reaction was awesome and also, where did you find that awesome Akira poster in the background?? Lol. Awesome video 😁😁
Hey where have you been lol? This looks really great just as a movie without labels. And yea this is before Batman because the man talking was Thomas Wayne
7:08 about that I wonder if they follow the The Killing Joke Joker backstory where his wife and unborn child die continuing his descent into insanity I wouldn't mind if they did that but I'd also be intrigued if they take another route
luv ur channel and reactions
BEST. TRAILER. EVER.
Heath raised the bar with his interpretation of the joker but I think Joaquin is going to own it and be the most defining portrayal ever of the joker:-)...Oscar beckons all round by the looks of it.
That was fun, movie looks amazing!
Super hyped for this movie
Subscribed from ALASKA.
I'm pretty excited.
First, dig the posters, especially the cool one with Batman merged with Akira. Second, you notice that by the end he's given up on playing the clown, and just accepts that he is one.
You should do more trailer reactions. Don’t have to worry about copyright and it’ll help get more eyes on your channel.
They have made a movie about the darkness of my mind. I bet I'm not alone in this.
Yes!
i got mad chills
Amazing 💜
Not to mention this story isn’t as of now connected to the DCEU, but there ness of them leaving a back foot open to join the main continuity & there was a whole rumor going around that there doing the THREE JOKERS storyline which is honestly one of the most interesting things dc has done & dc has done ALOT of interesting things
This trailer was hype
Thomas Wayne's being portrayed in the movie. The kid that Arthur's finger-mouthing is supposedly a young Bruce Wayne, so there's going to be a time shift on how things play out here focusing more on the Joker story.
This movie looks amazing!!! It looks extremely well shot, and Joaquin phoenix is such a great actor, I believe this will be a massive win for DC, as well as all joker fans
Great reaction guys I cried never knew he was bully he getting a,Oscar y'all see young Bruce Wayne at the gate joker mom is sick 😩 and that was Bruce father on the TV he mayor its set in the 80 s Bruce is young
Awesome reaction girls ❣️
the little kid was bruce wayne....BOOM!!! blew your mind!
Great reaction :)
So many Charlie Chaplin references
Charlie Chaplin~
"Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot. To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it!"
Joker~
"Used to think my life is a tragedy but now i realize it's a comedy"
So looking forward to this film :)
They would do a movie like this in japan and it would be called HISOKA
XD
And the Oscar and Golden Globe goes to..... Joaquin Phoenix!!!
You ladies are gorgeous!
All the trailers are looking good, Just hope the movie live up to the same level.
I swear, i watch reviews maybe 4 times for movies im excoted for. I cannot STOP. This has to be the 30th one. I am OBSESSED. Fuck it looks so damn good. Todd phillips is doing something great with joaquine phoenix.
The kid in the trailer was Bruce Wayne. Even says so in the cast.
