A little tip with the thread, if you use beeswax on your thread it will be easier to tie a knot and it will stay in place better when binding. Also adding the beeswax to the thread helps the thread last longer when bound in the book and the wear and tear when opening and closing. I have thought about doing something like this but the time it takes, you’re a champ for taking on something like this. Absolutely beautiful!
This is wonderful. I made a tiny 2 x 2 inch accordion sketchbook for my mother-in-law. I made a tiny custom palate in an Altoids mini tin and a water brush. They recently moved and down-sized but there is no reason not to still do what you love.
I can't wait, I absolutely loved the video of filling and making the small handmade sketchbook. I adore your art and paintings. They are all beautiful. Thank you so much for inspiring me.❤
If you use a pair of craft tweezers that are closed when you let go of them, they may be listed as reverse tweezers, they can hold a knot for you while you tie the knot again.
Minnie - those little books are lovely - great job! Your perfectionism always comes through! What a huge job - 200? I hope this holiday season is a beautiful one for you and for your mom and family. Sending blessings and a hug!
These little books are so cute! I'd be curious to know where you got your corner rounder. I've been making this style of book for years now and always have fun making them. One thing I've learned from other bookbinders is that it's best to fold all your papers together instead of folding them separately and then stacking them together. This method saves time and it also gives you a stronger, neater spine as all the folded pages sit perfectly flush with each other. Happy holidays to you!
These mini books are so beautiful. I also love the way you timed the music with your projects. So clever! Thank you for you generosity in sharing your wonderful art.
@@minniesmall TRUST YOUR INSTINCS PLEASE because they are from our Guardians. TRUST INSTINCS your inner VOICE. Congratulations. Minnie IS he the ONE FOR YOU?
Wow! I make my own Christmas cards every year and keep it at 20 cards - can't imagine making 200 sketchbooks!! They will be so appreciated. I see you used your own artwork for the covers, they look a bit shiny, how did you do that? I love these little sketchbooks. I love your videos. Merry Christmas Minnie!
Hi, I don't know if it's been said, but the booklets would be a little prettier/easier to make if you did the signatures with the black paper inside first, then fold the cover with the signature inside, that way your spine is a bit more rounded and easier on the eyes, and the pages won't stick out as much, but they look lovely nonetheless. I'm a novice bookbinder, and the pamphlet stitch books are very fun to make ^^ And if you use a regular bonefolder instead of a teflon one, you can burnish your paper accidentally, giving it a shine. If you don't want that, just put a piece of paper on top of the booklets ^^
Minnie!!!!! These are gorgeous and your heavy duty guillotine and rounded-edge-paper-cutter-thingy were SO satisfying to watch! Plus it was so nice to see Thierry steal your seat and play with the string! 😍Precious!
How generous you are with your time! And, how grateful your patreons will be. Merry Christmas, Minnie, and a Happy New Year to you, from an admirer in the midwest of the USA!
I also love having long natural nails, so I understand the chore of cutting them back and the horror of breaking them. Wishing you speedy and strong nail growth! -xoxo
These are too cute! It might be too late, but for future knot-tying, if you loop the thread the first time 2 or three times instead of one, it will hold while you make the 2nd knot. I hope that makes sense... Happy Holidays!
I love bookbinding! I came back to it this December, so how on point this video is, a good idea for on the go sketchbooks. And, btw, congrats on your wedding! How lovely ♥
Thank you so much for your content. Always a joy to see what you're up to. It makes for a great way to get back into a creative mindset. Many good wishes for you and your loved ones now and in the new year! Much success always :)
I feel so lucky every month, to have grabbed a single open spot on your Patreon a few months ago 😍 it's made me want to start journaling and creating pretty places to use the stickers so I don't just hoard them.
This is a sign for me to start something I have been putting off for far too long - making little sketchbooks of my underused watercolour papers. A smaller size, like a post card size perhaps, seems less intimidating that the big sheet of paper. Super thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you as always for such a wonderful video sharing your project, following along with your process is always so inspiring (and I always look forward to the Tierry cameos!) Also glad to hear the wedding dress shopping has gone well, look forward to hearing from you again next year❣️
these are stunning, Minnie!!! i'm still waiting for more of the highest tier spots on your patreon to open up, so i'm sad to miss this little piece of art,, but i'm glad to have seen the process and enjoyed your voice and artistry as always
Thank you for the hard work that you do. They came out lovely. Have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy the New Year. I can't wait to see what you bring next year. Hope you find the wedding dress of your dreams. God bless you and keep you.
So beautiful and neat! The moment you started cutting the round edges you blew my mind so cute 🥰 Amazing work I just made my own sketchbook and it is a lot of work but so satisfying 👌
Oh damn! I was a patron up until November, when I had to get a new bank card due to fraud. Forgot to update my card on Patreon, and before I could, someone nabbed my spot. 😅 Anyway, thank you for all the behind the scenes / business-end videos. They were very helpful to me in the planning and early stages of opening my Etsy shop (And were also just really nice to keep me company as I was working). Happy holidays / New Year, Minnie!

Hello Minnie, OMYGOD I love these, thank you for sharing!! I've been wanting to get into painting/watercolor painting, and lately cards but the thought was overwhelming!! Never thought of starting small🤦♀️😂!! Happy Holidays to you and your family!!❤️🥰🙏🏼
Loved the video Minnie, the mini sketchbooks are so cute (and I felt you so much with the nail situation, I always break mine as well in projects like these) 💚 Also, what a fun coincidence that I've been making little handmade notebooks to sell at my upcoming convention too 🙈 And I've been testing paper making as well!
Hey Minnie! If you're going to use regular sewing thread (which are usually polyester not cotton) maybe try using "button" or "quilting" threads they're thicker and stronger. Also watch a couple of jewelry bead or pearl knotting videos for tricks on how to tie/make knots. Poor finger nail... 8(
Oh wow, I wish I were a Patreon supporter! My workplace is merging with a larger company so my pay changes in a couple months - maybe after that I'll have the spare cash to contribute to Patreon. You are one of my favorite artists so I would love to support you!
Hi does anyone know what ever happened to the WeekDate brand of planners? I think they were discontinued & I would love to find one that is close to as functional as that one was. One that helps against repetitive writing of weekley or monthly things
I have had a book on 'bookbinding' for a few years............haven't done anything YET.............maybe 2022.........maybe.......or maybe I just like looking at books about stuff...LOL I just got back to sewing after a decade of doing nothing........This covid pandemic has in in the slumps
While I think they are very cool I don't personally think they can be considered sketchbooks. This is simply because of the lack of pages (of course it's understandable) which would make it so you have to make some super advanced stuff on them, sketchbooks should be for sketches and not artworks. Otherwise really cool, don't know if I could convey my point

Hey Minnie! Love your content. What tool did I see you use to straighten the card edges at the start of the video?
careful with kitty; our nebelung LOVES to swallow string and one time swallowed one attached to a needle! It did, uh, "come out."
