- The band was founded in 1883 as the Burgh of Govan Police Pipe Band, becoming the Glasgow Police Pipe Band in 1912 and Strathclyde Police Pipe Band in 1975. Due to the reorganization of police forces in Scotland the band changes the name to 'Greater Glasgow Police Scotland Pipe Band'.
8 dislikes if you only know the hard work that goes into a band like this so if you dont like then piss off.
Great playing as wonderful music infact one of the best which great piping and drumming of the Strathclyde police pipe band
It is such a diabolical shame that all our most famous police pipe bands have gone or been subsumed in to other areas! Especially our capital, no longer having a police pipe band! Is our once great pride in our heritage sacrificed in the name of economy? Pipe

why did it changed its name ?
Because there’s no strathclyde police anymore. It’s just police force Scotland.
What's the entry criteria for a band like this? I guess there's an audition?
I like Scottish music - like Scotland. If I had not been crippled would go visit this beautiful country
Only the second time I have seen a piper play top right and bottom left with the drones on the right shoulder (piper in the back row third from the left). Strangely enough, the first time was also in a police pipe band, Western Australia Police Force Pipe Band.
im a novice tenor drummer and these tenor drummers are different class. superb

Wow. The combination of piano and Pipes is magical. As is the penny whistle intro. Truly beautiful.
The lead and music on the tin whistle, was rather lovely.
Their drums always sound so good.

Kjmillig1 as a side drummer myself a bounce helps you play to the music. Pipe band snare drumming is 1 of the most exciting and technical forms of drumming there is. It samples from all genres and doesn't conform to 1 particular style. It can't be compared to rock or military.

What's the new name of the band then? Just a suggestion, how about BGGS Pipe Band,
B for Burgh, G for Govan, G for Glassgow and you guessed it S for Strathclyde. It will keep the whole history alive of the pipe band.
What's the name of the tune?
Sounds great, but I always have to laugh a little at snare drummers who bounce, sway, and move to the beat like they're rock drummers. Military band drummers don't do it and IMHO it looks much more professional.
