you can climb with every champion if you get good at it enough and play enough games. hwei is fun but learning to play him well will take you way more time than a talon or a garen.
Hwei is an early game champ so you generally want to go for runes that accentuate your early game power, like scorch. Also, hwei doesn’t have amazing AP ratios but he really loves ability haste so transcendence is usually better
It is disgusting how little damage yasuo takes in the early lane with his passive and Doran’s shield and second wind. You’re dodging his Q3 every time and hitting him with Es over and over again and the incidental damage you take from minions and maybe an auto or 2 is the more damage than you hitting like 4 Es with 10-15 autos lmao

Also, in that play, you already know that Talon could be there cause he's an assassin and he was targetting you the whole game. You hitted him on the bush, meaning that you were right and still went forward insted of flashing or going back with your team. Or you could just simplify it pinging your voli (tank) to face check, not Hwei (squishy).. just saying.

You could climb with literally anything you want man. All that matters is you’re having fun.
i play in platinum & hwei works great here. It'll take you like 20 games to truly get a grip of how to play him but i think he's very solid

cryptbloom is a better item to buy into, since it builds out of codex.

I'm still getting used to Mid after a long break (jungle/adc main), have gotten used to Hwei but I struggle with pressuring against some. ;-;

In a perfect scenario, yes. But, usually you want to pick stuff that will help you win lane.
Also, Hwei is very mana heavy and unless you play really well, you will have problems. Also CDR is the best stat on Hwei so transcendance helps
