    10:45 is the BIGGEST takeaway for anyone viewing this. Stop giving hype to meme stocks and crypto. For every flex post you see, there are 10 fails whose ego won't allow them to post about it. Also, I was hoping for a twist ending but meh, very predictable and easy guesses. The 2 young advisors handled themselves well in front of camera though. The company probably sent 2 fresh faced people because of TSL's audience.

    Quick question: TSL has a diverse group of staff from different backgrounds and ethnicities but why is only a specific demographic selected for a topic like finance, that's both universal and important. I don't think this decision was made consciously and perhaps I'm reading too much into it but I'm sure we would like to see more diversity in videos like these 🙂

      @jjgal92 3 года назад

      @@ryantan8666 so basically if one just got a new house havent made a payment net worth is possibly 0 cause the total mortgage owed and 25 years of interest is likely more than total assets (or else you'd have pay off using assets)?

    • @Twodaae

      @@jjgal92 you would have made some sort of payment (downpayment) whether it is in the form of cash or CPF. So if you do own a house, your networth will not be $0. However, if you only pay an interest only loan, over the course of maybe 5yrs, your loan is not going to be lowered and hence your networth will not increase as well. Ignore gurus who tells you how much your property would have appreciated and nonsense about capital appreciation profits, because as long as you have not sold the property, all those are just words and paper value, not its true worth

      Just take the average prices sold around your primary residence as a ball park figure to calculate your networth. Until you sell it, you will never know what your primary residence is truly worth... haha but those that choose to dress like a beggar but have the means to buy multiple properties in sg, are not simple folks. I dress like ordinary coffee shop folks, unless i go shopping or have date nights with my wife, then i would make the effort to dress up a bit more. :)

I would think those who are too scared to invest belong to ppl in my parents' era where there wasn't much info they could access, or new young working adults not bothered enough to learn investing or still building their emergency funds. but since COVID last year, there's so many financial channels out there (e.g. overseas we have Graham Stephen, SG we have Kelvin learns investing) and easy entry platforms like roboadvisors, there's no excuse not to start investing

      if you are a person with 0% risk tolerance or you are too busy to manage your investment or you just don't bother with financial management; converting your OA to SA is the best decision since the return is guaranteed but SA is only a 4% interest, while in the market there are other investment that "could" return you with higher than the SA's return but with an underlining risk. So the advisors are not wrong to advice you to use your OA to reinvest since you cannot touch your SA at all until retirement.
      But if you are happy with the 4%, that is perfectly fine too. Investing is not for everyone but everyone should do their due diligence to manage their own money for retirement
