Hey 👋I really like the video and your channel as a whole and it really shows your dedication and passion to creating videos. As a novice film creator myself, advice and critique from others is one of the most valuable things to me in creating better pieces of media.
A lot of this video is genuinely really great.
    - The title screen graphic is really nice and contrasts the blue-green color grade
    - You use a great variety of shot types that complement actions very nicely.
    - I like that you have an intro establishing that you are just a normal dude in a suburban neighborhood like anyone else is, showing that you don’t need to be special to start doing what you love (my interpretation)
    - The lofi vibe you created really works with itself nicely. The vignetting, slight lens barrel warp, the color grade and music choice
    - The Gatorade tracking shots look really nice and seamless.
    - The getting dressed bottom-up “worm's-eye” angle is also really nice.
    - The ending of the video where he goes down to the kitchen to get a drink really ties in the fact that he’s just a dude living in the same world as we all are, strengthening the
    - Your message is something that a lot of people (including me) can really take away from.
    - The video title is really good and intrigues me while the thumbnail adds to that while also grabbing my attention.
There are a few things that could be made that would really increase the quality of future videos and really make them even more a treat to watch.
    - Scripting: Most importantly, having a strong script is the foundation of creating something out of this world. Even when making short 1-minute flicks that don’t seem like they would need scripts, most creators are actually writing them. There are plenty of videos on how to come up with, format, and write great scripts for free on RUclips. The most simple thing to do that should be done in 99% of films is having character development in some way or another. For example, if the main character in this video were to show emotions of distress or creative rut, it would create a contrast in the same character where they later convince themselves to go out and ‘Just Film’.
    - fps:This may sound dumb but I do not recommend shooting, editing, or uploading in 60fps. It's an industry standard to shoot in 24fps or 30fps since anything higher creates motion that is seen as distractingly and unusually smooth. When I was first told this and switched to 24fps, it looked choppy and slow but I promise you it looks MILES more cinematic. Also, having a lower fps means that you get better image quality since your ISO doesn’t need to go as high to compensate for the lack of brightness in high fps and therefore high shutter speed (Which should be double your fps or 180° to create the most realistic motion blur).
    - Editing: Another big thing is that editing should have a reason for it the same way filming does. It could be to sync cuts up with the beats in a soundtrack, or to cut on actions to make it appear seamless when viewing. In addition to that, effects should have a reason as well. Editing has the same power that filming does when utilizing visual storytelling. In fact, editing has more power in emotional storytelling than filming does, especially when there is minimal dialogue. That could be done through sound choice and alteration, through when clips begin and end, etc. On that note, sound is just as important to a film and the visuals are, so if a section of video has beautiful shots but little or no audio even when there is no dialogue, the visuals will seem boring as well.
    - Lighting: Investing in some cheap lighting equipment will really go a long way as long as you learn how to use it. Altering light unlocks another level of creativity beyond your imagination. Vuhlandes has a really good video for beginners on it.
    - Music and Sound Effects: Pixabay has a ton of free music and sound effects. Soundly also has a free option and there are really good sound tools built in while having really good sound effects. I would also recommend deleting audio from clips without usable sound since there tends to be static noise when there is no pronounced audio. DeNoise helps with this too.
The Nitty Gritty of this video (please don’t take it to heart):
    - 0:05 - 0:10 when taking time lapses, it is important to still use 180° shutter angle rules to get better motion blur.
    - 0:13 - 0:15 The effect in the photo should be done in both the freeze frame and the footage to avoid the choppy effect. Alternatively, not using a freeze frame but just the footage behind the text would work as well. Also, the woosh sound effects slightly take away from the mood of the video.
    - 0:21 Try matching or locking the focus when doing match cuts.
    - 0:29 - 0:32 Some kind of talking to chat would make it more apparent that you aren’t just playing Minecraft but actually filming.
    - 0:32 If you’re going to do a cut that fast, you should match the action to make the shot insert to be less distracting.
    - 0:39 - 0:41 Though I like the use of a tracking shot, it feels very much as if you’re holding a selfie stick and slightly takes away from the immersion.
    - 0:43 - 0:48 Maybe I don’t entirely understand why this editing choice was made but again, if the editing doesn’t adhere to a story or reason, it shouldn’t be done.
    - 0:49 - 0:50 It’s a good shot but it makes you feel as if the light has importance when it doesn’t because it’s in focus and takes a majority of the frame.
    - 0:54 - 0:58 The refrigerator sound should end and start a little later.
    - 0:48 - 1:07 I understand why there is television to fill the empty audio space in the background but music or something that isn’t an advertisement would be more appealing since you could get it in higher quality as well.
Though I just dropped that bomb of a comment, I am nowhere near being a professional, and it is inevitably your choice to apply that advice or not. Take what I say for whatever you need it to. I know that you have the ability to create something absolutely amazing or even award winning sometime soon. As long as you continue to create, you will grow and become better at your craft. I hope you continue to make videos for as long as you enjoy doing so. 🤍🖤

🤔 so was the 60fps an intentional choice? Just curious great vid by the way. I've been slacking. Need to take that advice. Burnt out after recent project and need to get my shizzz together.

    • @xmikekingx
      @xmikekingx  20 дней назад

It was not really intentional since still learning but I did note that if I record in a 60fps with 1/120 shutter then I could slo mo it in the editing process for a smoother slo mo. Tried to make it easier by just recording it all at 60fps

@@xmikekingx that makes sense. Keep doing your thing man, play, experiment, learn. There might be a setting for shutter angle with the latest firmware. If u set ur shutter angle to 180° you can just change frame rates and not have to adjust shutter speed.
