Those kinds of enemies are something that I miss not only in new Elder Scrolls, but in new RPGs generally. The ability to lower one of stats is something very simple, but surprisingly it changes a lot in how player must deal with the enemy. On high levels, when character has a lot of health and very good armour, so normal foes don't deal much damage anymore, Bonewalkers can still be a great threat
@@UlvenTES From what I remember shrines and spells did nothing. Then I got Tribunal and the shrines worked again but I was past the point where it mattered. This was on xbox so no fixing through the console.
We need more Greater Bonewalker memes. Cliff Racer jokes are good but overplayed, and were only really a threat early on, and far more of an annoyance much later.
For me the scariest creature has to be the bone lord. I remember when I was first playing Morrowind at age 10 and seeing the sketches of them in the loading screen and being ridiculous scared that I would see one whenever I went into a dungeon. Just knowing theybwere out there waiting for me somewhere eas terrifying.
Only to find out they are quite weak, I was disappointed when I encountered one for the first time ahah. My biggest fear when I was 9 years old was the lame corprus 😬
I remember scraping my inventory frantically for like 5-10 minutes straight to see if i had any feather or restore strength potions/ingredients and barely managed to escape that dungeon with like a short duration feather potion. even when i have restore strength spells now these fuckers bring back bad memories
You can pick up any Restore Attribute spell (the spell vendor upstairs in the Balmora temple has a couple for around 200 gold) then make a custom spell to Restore Strength 19-20 for one second. The spell costs 13 gold to have made and only one point of mana to cast so even with a low Restoration skill you can heal your strength back with a few casts. One mana point spells like these are surprisingly powerful in the right situation.
Yep I called mine Bonehook 22 because it has 22 points, 1 per second. It also restores Endurance for the same amount too, and that way no Illness or Disease can immediately pause your journey, and force you to return to town. The other diseases only hit non critical attributes even for mage players. Also you can do the same thing with Damage Attribute on Target spells. Since they never restore unless the NPC has restore attribute magic in their inventory, you can Damage Speed or Strength 1 point over 20 seconds and basically it's permanent paralysis. They can still hit you if you get to close or cast magic but they can move. You can do this to creatures after casting command follow on them, to make them stay still in one spot forever, for that game cycle at least.
@@hntr_official Restore attribute heals the damage so you're back to normal. For example if you get hit badly and lose thirty strength the spell will restore 19-20 for that then a second cast should bring you back up to full strength again.
I'm a little biased because I've played through two characters so far with the Atronach birthsign and spec'd into enough restoration, mysticism and/or alchemy skill to either absorb bonewalker spells or teleport and restore
Yes that's an excellent counter, also I guess only a few people would choose this type of build when playing Morrowind for the first time 😂 Also a good counter is using fire spells on target, or being strong enough to one hit them
Memes aside, conjuring anything makes it more bearable to face this literal monstrosity crafted to dungeon perfection. Buys you enough time to put it down. OR send it back to Aetherius yourself and ready Restore Strength potions beforehand. Bonewalkers are always the ones who knock.
@@UlvenTESisn’t there a dungeon with vampires in the very first region? I remember the first time i played morrowind many many years ago i got the vampire disease (unknowingly) pretty much right away after escaping out the crypt with a sliver of my life, and then got these ominous nightmares every night that confused (and intrigued) the hell out of me.

Yeah these guys are legitimately scary lol, it doesn't matter how strong you are if you aren't prepared.
When I first played Morrowind I was 9 years old and I was TERRIFIED of these ahahah
YES
"I have no fear."
*[damaged attributes]*
"I have 1 fear."
You should rest and meditate on what you've learned
Before Tribunal there was a bug where damaged attributes could become permanent. Yes, it happened to me. Yes, it was a bonewalker.
Core memory.
Even if you went to a temple shrine and chose restore all attributes ?

@@UlvenTES you could also use the soultrap glitch to give yourself permanent temporary buffs too so it wasn't that much of an issue.
The noise they make is so scary
Truly horrifying

Oh nice, thanks for the tip. But it lasts only 1 second, right? Wouldn't you be overencumbered after that second again or is the cast time one second?
