A quick follow up on using tape to quiet the audio a bit... It doesn't work! lol Tape over the mic element completely muted the audio, and the only thing recorded was the landing. The audio shown here is about the best it's going to get!
Such a great/ calming flight, I like when you fly along the river. I wonder if any of the HD FPV systems will ever offer live audio, I think a lot of people use it or would use it. That is one good thing about analog video. Thanks for the video and thanks for the idea of using the USB device.
Yeah I think those that prefer live audio are the minority, but I've always liked having it when it's an option. lol
Nice cockpit view of the bayou sunset final into Pirate field.
Great idea!! I miss the audio from walksnail. I was thinking about just using a small hd camera burried in the fuselage but this might be easier
Love your videos too! I always check to see if you have posted anything new. One thing though: I wish your video's were longer. I know it's more trouble especially with editing. But I would like to see them longer because you have some cool planes and you fly some very scenic places, your flights are a lot of fun to watch.
Some of the small recorders have a dynamic setting that keeps the louder noises toned down
I too miss on board audio, except when I have it available live during the flight, I always forget to plug in my ear bud. But I still like having in in the analog dvr. I flew analog with my Nano Goblin for the first time since being obsessed with HDZero on an Original ZOHD Dat, a 5in. quad, and a 2" Mobula HD whoop. I so enjoyed the good analog fpv. Had a 22min flight in 15-30mph gusty winds and bad rotor. I have flown the Nano G in all kinds of conditions even in a rain storm and heavy fog. Hard to believe such a small plane could be capable and confident flyer. In difficult rotor on INAV 611 , when manual is almost a no go, Acro keeps it upright and even fun. Into the wind I made 20-24knts and downwind 50-55knts.
It even picks up the pan servo at 11:45 😆😆 Great idea Keith, Thank You
I too am struggling to give up audio. Hoping one of these companies catches on that we actually enjoy that.
Fly low along the. dirt road underneath the tree canopy..that would be awesome!
I did the same thing so I can add some sound to my soundless digital videos but I haven't really used it much because I am waiting for the crops to get harvested because anybody that ever had a drone or a plane go down in a cornfield knows it's just like crashing the middle of the ocean.. hard to find even with coordinates
you have such a great location to fly at, nobody around
Yeah it is a nice place to cruise around for sure.
Always love these flights. Great idea with the mic. Would be nice to not have to haul around a GoPro on my multirotors and planes. Hope WS adds audio and removable storage soon. What fw version are you running for the Swordfish? I just upgraded and it's really bad. The video feed looks like it's smudging, all sortof runs together and looks like mush.
I'm using the latest, 34.40.15 Check your settings again, make sure it didn't drop the power down to default or something with the update. Image quality should be as good or slightly better than previous firmware.
Can you share details on your VRC & monitor set up.
Which fonts are you using for your overlay? They look so great 😮
It's the Conthrax font from Sneaky FPV, but I've changed some of the elements myself. Most notably the AHI and some others.
@@bonafidepirate nice! you should upload the pngs somewhere 😉
Did you get a preproduction T2 Cruza to test out?
Nope, I don't think I'm on the HeeWing radar... lol I reached out in the past a couple times but haven't heard much back from them. The T2 looks like a nice addition to the twin lineup for FPV cruisers though.
Hmm. If anyone should get a preproduction model I would have thought it would have been you. Too bad for them(Heewing).
Great flight! You don't happen to know the factory LVC setting the ESCs came with? I'd like to run Li-ions in mine, but haven't managed to find the cutoff value yet, and don't really like that sort of surprises ...
The ESCs in the PNP version run BL-Heli, so no LVC to speak of.
I too miss the audio. I hope WS et al. manage to achieve this at some point.
What an awsome and calm flight. am about to order and i cant decide... do you prefer the sowrdfish or the dolphin ? Thanks in advance!
That's a tough one! lol They two of my favorites right now. I'd happily build either one again. If I had to pick only one plane to keep, I'd probably go with the Dolphin because it's pretty versatile. It can be a slow cruiser, or fly faster without a huge penalty in efficiency. The Swordfish it easier to launch, but the Dolphin is quite easy too with a two-handed backwards launch, using auto takeoff.
So stable!
On a twin it might make the case for differential thrust if only for the ability to feather the failing motor.
Sweet Landing! 😎
Thanks! I was a little aggressive on the flare, otherwise I could have greased it! lol
HDZ has the option of running a separate analog VTX/mic to patch audio into a VRX in the goggle module bay foe live audio and dvr recording....but I haven't but just bench tested this.
In theory you could do that with any system, though maybe not as clean on the receiver side... lol
Hey, that's true@@bonafidepirate
Fantastic find, Keith! Really brilliant idea!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks!
I get audio by having a runcam thumb and then pulling the audio that video and putting it to the DVR video
...what is the radio control link "protocol"...? the connectivity/penetration(trees) seems fantastic.
and yes, the audio is an improvement imo. more feedback/more information. you have it faded down in the background while you are narrating to a perfect level; i wouldn't want to have it any louder while you are talking
This one has Crossfire in it. I should point out that the RSSI is still configured wrong, the flag in rc_options is set to use LQ and RSSI from some other stuff I was doing. Thanks for the reminder that I needed to fix that, it's fixed now for the next flight... lol LQ is accurate and relevant though.
can we have 1.3Ghz audio transmitter? or FM radio mic TX ? I miss the sound from analog
I have live audio with DJI FPV Goggles V1 and dji air unit with Wtf Os installed. It is digital and crystal clear.
I've seen mention of live audio with the WTF hack stuff, but haven't really followed anything DJI. I wonder if they'll ever have it working with the newer stuff?
@@bonafidepirate I hope so. I bought V1 goggles for this reason only. If they manage to hack newer stuff that will be nice.
@@bonafidepirate The very first DJI Air Unit was the only one that had a mic for live audio. It also already had SD card recording, but was quite heavy and not very popular. SD recording came back with O3 Air Unit (now even stabilized and 4k) - but I doubt audio ever will... 😕
Nice job, and so easy to go between planes, or even on a quad ...it could help tuning...🤔🤔😳😏🇬🇧....OSD looked amazing with the extra colours in the font library....😮😀😀😀
Thanks! Audio surely can be useful besides just nice to have in the videos.
Hello, very cool video, the footage comes from the goggles or from the VTX? Thanks
It's recorded on he ground from the HDMI output. I'm using the VRX module.
I tried using my iPhone's voice recorder and a lavalier mic to catch some audio from the field. I just do the clapper thing too and it seems to work. Great videos by the way. I'm setting up an AR Wing Pro right now and your channel is a total inspiration. Thanks!🙂
It’s nice flying with you. I wonder how you mounted the immortal T antenna?
I was hoping for an audio feature that allowed you to talk and say " Bank left 30 degrees". Maybe someday we could have a Vocal Command feature in RC. How hard would it be?
your initial landing-approach parameters looked like they would have been perfect, but you added a burst of power at the end, then overshot "das Fliebünker" 😅. plane seems to like that ground effect. on that, have you ever noticed a difference between longer grass and putting-green-height grass, as it pertains to ground effect on landings?
