You are trying to factor out -x^2+10x+24. There is a coefficient in front of x^2. This coefficient is -1. Whenever there is a coefficient that is not 1 in front of x^2, you need to multiply it by the c value and then factor that number out. Since -1 is not 1, you need to multiply 24 by negative one. This gives you -24, which is the number that you use to factor out the expression.
The range of a function just tells you all possible y values of that function or equation. So when a question asks you to find the range of a function it is asking you to state any possible y values that exist on the graph. When you graph (x-4)^2 + 1 you see that the lowest point that the graph ever reaches is (4,1). Meaning that there will never be any points where your y value is 0 or less than 1 (if such points existed the graph would show it and the curve would stoop lower to those points). When we look at the graph we see that there is no celling, meaning that the curve keeps going up and up without stopping. Thus the range of the function (or any possible y values) are any values that are greater than or equal to 1. Because 1 was the lowest that the function ever got on the graph.
In order to factor something you need to reduce it into its simplest form. To do this you divide (or take out) terms that are found in all parts of the equation. In this case, each term in our expression has an x, so the first step to factoring is to take out that x from each term. -x^3+10x^2+24x all have an x that we can take out. Once we take out that x we get x(-x^2+10x+24). Now that we have an expression that is raised to the power of two, and we can use FOIL to reduce (or factor) -x^2 +10x + 24 into (x+2)(x-12). The final step here is for us to attach the x that we factored out originally in front of the two parts that we split -x^2 +10x + 24 into. Thus we get x(x+2)(x-12).
learning the entire class right before the regents because my teacher can't teach

on number 7 if x is shifting to the left wouldnt it be -3 because its moving back?
No, subtracting moves it to the right k units and adding moves it left k units
@@bobthebuildersstepfather but if x is positive 5 and is subtracting by 3 itll be 2 which is left from 5

I think i did enough to get appealed lmk
Im straight up watching this while waiting to be let inside my class for regents
Shouldn’t 21 be 4?

I’m confused if it has to multiply to 24 and add up to 10 then why is it (x + 2) (x-12) it will multiply to -24 and -10
