    I found it hard to believe what I was hearing in this video. The Aral sea dried up because the two rivers feeding it were diverted to irrigate land. There cannot be any dispute about this? The main reason the Soviets diverted the rivers was to irrigate land to mainly grow cotton. If the irrigation stopped and the 2 rivers were allowed to re feed the Aral Sea, are you saying the sea would not return?

      It doesn't sound like they're disputing the fact that the water was diverted for irrigation, but the blaming of cotton specifically for the sea drying. That the diverted water was mismanaged because of how much evaporated within those irrigation channels, and also due to growing other water-heavy crops (which cotton is not)
