You got clean because it was impossible to go on and once you are a boring, middle-class nobody, no-one remembers that you once stood before kings and made the Earth tremble.
You did what you had to, the only thing that could be done and the exalted reward is invisibility. This song never fails to put a bittersweet smile on my face. My brave, invisible face, buying eggs at the counter, living for small things.
