Don’t let that Nick Cannon bar go over your head now hehehe “Wildin’out without carryin’ a canon” of course we get that wild n’ out reference but also it sounds like Carey and a Cannon like Mariah Carey. Also so much homage in this TAPE. ALPHAZ on deck is reference to their fandom and Simon is their producer/CEO that was the reference. Loved the reaction. Of course there are other references other ALPHAZ will mention but XG really means business when it comes to Hip Hop they’re so immersed in it! When talking about Stereotypes, she's talking about breaking the Idol Stereotype. There is a ton of stereotypes in the K-Pop scene, even tho they aren't K-pop.
Established in Korea, built and trained like a kpop group, in a Korean company ran by majority Korean staff, making music the Korean pop way, using the kpop infrastructures and mainstream platforms. They absolutely are kpop. The k in kpop doesn't mean "korean language" as you already saw there's tons of english kpop songs, and we've seen plenty of non Korean kpop idols, so them being Japanese also doesn't make them not kpop. And no, the statement of them claiming to be "global" or whatever is irrelevant just like how a bearded man in a dress doesn't become a woman because he claims to be. "Global" is not a type of group, it's a level of fame, when you're famous across the globe you are a global group. Plenty of very typical kpop groups are more global than them right now and no one calls them global.
It's not a Korean company though. XGALX and it's parent company AVEX are from Japan.
No need to apologize about your analyzation of the songs and lyrics, we come here for that, and XG do hide a ton of refrerences in their lyrics, even in their main releases.
the 02 line at the start is one of my favorite. Jurin was born in 02, this track was released in 02, and in 02 Mixtapes and bootlegging them was a huge thing ( someones else knowledge )
The gods favorite line is a call out to the album this track was on and the Neptunes produced it hence the call out. The algo line ties into the "who thought the kid would go viral" This was after the Cypher #2 and mainly Cocona went super viral, and XG saw a huge jump in fans. There is a ton more, but i'm sure you cought a bunch more on your second listen. Love the video as always and your insights.
As a fan of hip hop first, that discovered XG later in life, your reaction is on point man. You aren't hating on them, but giving what I think is critical feedback that they can easily take back to their writing team. I loved this as a fun cover though, and can't wait to see what else they put out. Check out Show You Can by Maya and Cocona though. Just know there's a dance break in the middle because it was written for a Korean dance competition
So ALPHAZ is the XG fandom which they are always paying respect to, and Simon (aka Jakops) is their producer/manager/mentor. Also regarding stereotypes, Maya also mentions breaking stereotypes in Two Tens with Harvey. Basically and without over-thinking it, they are breaking typical idol stereotypes meaning cute or girl crush concepts although all XG members are visuals also. But good reaction and thank you for supporting XG

I'm guessing Tape 4 is in the works. Thats kind of been the formula. However, they are doing a world tour this year. Not sure when that kicks off though.

Hi there! Nice work. Alphaz have already done most of the commenting to bring you up to speed and I’ve given them all thumbs up (as one should). We are hoping and praying for Tapes 4+. Don’t be afraid to watch the VOX (vocals) or the Moves (dance). All are good entertainment and examples of these women operating at the peak of their potential.
Don’t sweat missing a bar or two. Alphaz have time and multiple reactions to inform their perspective. And things that might seem trivial to you in the moment have moved older reactors to smile or to tears. These tapes are crafted to tap into memory and nostalgia that isn’t accessible to us all.

Another great reaction to XG. The tapes are done, yes… but you could also react to Cocona, and Maya’s song “show you can” this is rap heavy and the song was produced purely for the show Street Woman Fighter II
Also some bars you may have missed, doubles in the beginning of Jurin’s verse…
1. Bars under 16 reference was 16 bar verse and Cocona being 16 for rapping on tape #2
2. Algo = algorithm you are correct.
3. Who would have thought the kid would go viral. The tape#2 with Cocona’s verse practically broke the internet, so it was Jurin’ paying some respect to Cocona
4. Neptunes was the one that produced the NORE beat
There are heaps to take away from the song. I don’t think I can list them all though and there are other comments below that have done that.
I think a lot of the fun is people figuring out all the references and bars. Hand high like a stick up fanatic I took as the light sticks in kpop. These side projects are XG /Simon having fun. I never catch everything 😭 I love to go back and see what I missed. 🫡🫵😎🐺🧬👽

What I love so much about this one in particular is damn near every line is a reference or just pure firreee! Here's the ones I caught, theres probably some I missed
Intro is obvious a reference to the OG Nothin' even mentioning the album its on
"nothin' under sixteen" Cocona was 16 when they debuted, and ofc a reference to rap bars
"This that O2 flow" Jurin was born in '02, bootlegged mixtapes hit a peak, and O2 as in oxygen flow, Nothin was released in '02
The korean bit after thick skin "I don't need to start drama, I just count the commas"
"Who would have thought that the kid would go viral" A reference to the fact Cocona's verse in the Xypher went VIRRAAALLL on tiktok
"C to the O-C-O, now" But now pronounced naw so its just her name
"Wildin' out without carryin a canon" this can go a few ways, Nick Cannon/Wilding out, Mariah Carrey/Nick Cannon, this one a stretch but even Canon cameras and GGW. Paired with the next line of hands up you get Cannon like a ship's cannon or a hand cannon.

"When coco step in beware of the magnae" Magnae means the youngest in Korean, referencing the fact Cocona is the youngest in the group
"lost in the cypher sauce heavy on the spice" Another call back to the xypher but Jurin's part.
