  • This XC60 is special because it's the first one to have Google built into the vehicle. The new infotainment system makes this Volvo XC60 a much more enjoyable car to use. However, this big change does come with a few glaring issues and drawbacks.

What's the point of using a clickbait title? In any case, I've had the car for three weeks and the only downsides I've found are the center console software (comparing to other cars), the rattling of the center console, and a slight disappointment in its leaning on mountain roads (asphalt). However, aside from those minor issues, the car is great overall. Its smooth ride encourages you to stay calm and drive carefully.

I have owned the 2022 XC 60 B5 Inscription for 3 weeks now, and I absolutely love this car !
Its a smooth ride and comfortable. My favorite is the heated steering wheel. I suffer from Raynaud’s and the entire wheel is heated not just the 9 and 5 positions like other manufacturers. Reading some of others comments about google and apple lacking, is not a deal breaker for me .

I have had the 22 XC60 Inscription since 10/21, and satellite radio was always ready and working. The informtainment system still shows one channel while playing another when using Sirius XM....big lag in updating the screen after changing the channel. No Apple car play OTA update as of today ...which is highly annoying since I have used that feature in my last 3 vehicles.

I got the late release 2022 extended battery XC60 Recharge in late March. LOVE it! I drove my first 1200 miles using only 1/2 tank of gas and only filled it up because I was planning a 500 mile roadtrip -- which took only 1 tank of gas with 90 miles to spare. So worth the extra $$ when premium gas is selling for $5.60/gallon. It does have SiriusXM and they're promising Apple Carplay within the next few months (today is 6/10/22). Having said all that, It's been in the shop several times replacing faulty parts. In fact, it's there right now getting some telecommunications parts replaced. They've given me an XC60 (mild hybrid) as a loaner and I was averaging 31 mpg today in that car. It was fine but I missed the 40+ miles of EV and the 455 hp of my XC60 Recharge.

My 2021 XC 60 Rdesign T6 is in the shop now for service. I have this exact car as a loaner, except its a B5 and it doesn’t have the advanced package. That means that the back up camera is left on the lower half of the center stack screen, and the other half is left dark. I find this to be very disorienting, and I also find there’s a lot of glare, because of the dark screen. The Sound system is fantastic, however, I couldn’t find how to turn off the auto stop start, which affects the quality of the sound as a disengages other speakers. I found that to be very annoying, when I came to a stop at any light, especially because I enjoy music. The lack of drive mode is also a step backward. That being said, this SUV is by far, my favorite SUV on the market right now. Thanks for all the great videos by the way, I’m always looking forward to them.

Just some features that I dislike about the Volvo 2022 B6: 1. brake- stoping from 3km/h to 0km/h gives a very harsh stop. Like the emergency brake get involved. Not comfortable. 2. Steering- like BMW X4 the steering is light, which I like it. But Volvo terns more than my BMW X4. I need to correct myself very time I drive it. 3. Infotainment system- no Apple CarPlay and android auto. Integrated sound and AC into that system. I cannot easily turning on AC or choose input during driving. I have to keep my eye on the screen and get into each sub menu to do what I want. It is like I have to use my phone during driving and it is not safe.

This was an excellent review. I actually own the '22 XC90 and after watching the video and reading many of these comments, I am really glad my car has the old Sensus UI instead of the Google-fied one. I think I would be miserable with the new Google activated system. I toyed with Android Auto on occasion with my '19 XC90 and thought it was pretty terrible, starting with how clunky and out of sync the UI performed and looked against the flow of the XC's interior styling. This new UI does not have the look of a Volvo IMHO and I hope that Volvo will give the user the option to choose which UI to use (but I certainly will not hold my breath on that one).

I have the XC40 Recharge as well. Google's AAOS is barely beta. First, a major update is coming in April to fix the LTE/GPS loss issue, and this issue happens on the new XC60 as well. This has been a pain for too many owners. Second, many of the features that were readily available with a swipe in Sensus are now buried in menus - not safe to drill down while driving, and you'd think that anythink you can toggle on/off would be available with Google Voice - nope. Third, in one of the updates last year, the ability to toggle on/off Pilot Assist when Adaptive Cruise Control is on was taken away. You have to drill down into the menus and either set PA to always on when you use ACC or always off with ACC. WHY? A great example of a solution in search of a problem. There are MANY times where PA does not work well due to lack of clear road lines - but ACC works well on those roads. Being able to toggle PA on/off with your left thumb was not only convenient but safe. Now, you have to drill down into menus while driving to turn PA on or off. Absurd decision - just make it so the driver can choose when to have it always tied to ACC and when not to, and bring back the thumb activiation of PA.

Usually I Just use the Apple Car Play feature if I'm going on a short trip. However, it does not use the full screen and I wish it did. I usually never do any comments but this video begged for my response. I have now had my 2022 xc60 for 2 years and I can say most of the bugs have been worked out. I also have the B6 inscription model and I love the power and as for mileage I averaged 25 mpg on a 1500 trip to Arizona and driving in most of Arizona’s city driving and back home for another 1500 miles. The ride is great and the seats are the best, I recommend the air suspension it’s so nice. My big complaint is there is no compass. The Google Maps does have a little arrow on the left side of the screen with the little arrow having a red indicator showing North. Driving in multiple lanes we should have a real compass! I told Volvo about this and they basically said the little arrow with the red part pointing North should be sufficient. Mine stickered at just under 72K. Hope it helps and yes I now have Sirius and AppleCar Play took awhile to get it.

so, after 8 hours of charging, you get 20 miles only and if you charge the car while driving it uses more gas per mile, to get 20 miles.. is that proven to actually save money vs. using regular gas operated engine? I just got this car last week and unfortunately, while too late, make sure that you look into this. Is this type of re-charge really a good idea when you are not saving money and still using gas?

This is a very detailed review. Thank you for the information. I currently own a new 2022 vehicle in which the infotainment system is "frustrating" to use. It is the main reason I want out of this car. I was looking to buy a 22 XC60 Polestar but am now giving it a second thought. I just want a car in this price range to work as expected. Does not look like this is the one after all.

I bought a 22 xc60 recharge t8 polestar engineered a month ago and it is an amazing car. Don’t let someone else’s opinion/review deter you from checking out the car for yourself. Sure, it’s okay to get information from videos, but don’t just turn your head away because someone else saw some negative points in it. The infotainment is actually very smooth and very easy to use, and that’s coming from someone that’s an apple user. The Google infotainment negates the need for CarPlay anyway, as long as you have a Google account, you still have fully integrated access to all the features you could want.

More times than i can count i end up behind the wheels of the BMW... Volvo makes great looking cars, that comfortably take you from A to B, but that's about it unfortunately.

Are true OTA updates working for this new system? I've had the first year current gen XC90 with Sensus Infotainment since 2015. It was pre-sold to me promising OTA updates. They delivered it promising they were "coming soon." Seven years later they still have never shown up. You can do basic map info updates OTA but nothing else, even though the interface is designed as if to expect them. Even more annoying, it will constantly spam you at start up that there is a software update available but there's no way to get it short of going into the dealer. It's one of the more annoying things about the car. So I don't really trust Volvo when it comes to promising things to come.

Im noticing with my XC60 that the google services are a little more limited on features/controls.
