I was on Hydra two years ago and it changed my life. I was looking for Mr Cohan's house but could not find it. I knew i was in the right aria but still could not find it. I woke up this morning and the first thought that I realized I had - I need to listen to this song. And that’s what I did. I watched this music video three times in a row. The simple things and things that we take for granted, but they carry so much in them - beauty, sadness, color, light. And then of course the song. “As for the world, the job, the war - I ditched them all to love you more”. This line breaks me almost every time that I hear this song. A true poet, Mr. Cohen, you carry on living so brightly through your music

Losing beloved ones is hard, I cannot imagine how unbelievably hard to lose beloved because of war. Be damned those who makes our beloved ones suffer and die for madmans in power.
This is my favourite song off of the album. Ive written so many poems and songs inspired by Cohen but listening to his songs just makes me realize that there can never be another Cohen. Even when he was near his death, he sang and he wrote. His voice was a frail whisper in the end but his heart and his mind were sharp, maybe sharper than ever before. Cohen is one of those select few musicians who make you want to pick up your guitar and sing but at the same time, he makes you want to give it all up. A musical great, a non-pareil, a true artist till the very end.
Each of us is unique!no ,there can't be another Leonard Cohen ,but it is a fantastic "You" ,that can write beautiful amazing things ,too! In diversity lies the beauty!Just "go for it!"

One day in Greece: one day is a metaphor for life, and the orange that accompanies us on this day is a metaphor for the sun, the setting sun, as the end of life. This video is a brilliant memorial, the boy commemorates the father's single day - like his whole life.
I feel so alive to hear that. Leonard, I don't know who you really were, but I can't help saying that I would like to have met you. I don't know who I would be without your music, your poetry, that's your legacy. I've always loved the art of words, of poetry, and I thought I knew it so well before you did. But now, I feel like I'm still a child learning to crawl. And you saved me from this world.
We live in a labyrinth of multiple thoughts and we are our own Minotaur. Sometimes it’s good just... moving on. I’m very touched to see some views of Leonard Cohen’s house in Hydra... That island is a pearl of the Aegean Sea! And those camera shots are beautiful. Thanks a lot for that little trip in Greece, with Leonard’s voice as the Ariadne’s thread. (Should I say “Marianne’s thread”?) Thanks for the Dance, maestro. You still alive in our hearts.
I was backpacking around the islands in 1980 and I remember the colours, then still clear, calm blue sea, and how they danced under the beautiful sunlight. I slept in a sleeping bag on the sand on the beach in Naxos where there were only two tavernas, a kilometer apart on the beach and we people gathered around a well to wash off the salt in the evening or paid a small amount to bathe in the open air behind one of those tavernas. Then go back and have those small round potatoes and other local food and wine well into the night. There was a guy there at the time who used to play the flute which was mesmerizing. I also went to Hydra where Cohen had a house. I slept in a patch of woods on top of the hill above the harbor. I went to Harry's bar where I heard that he just got back from a concert and was tired. I kept going back and staying until the early hours of the morning but he didn't turn up. Maybe he didn't even go to that bar. Then I moved on, spending almost four weeks from one island to another. I remember lying on my back on the deck on the way to Mikonos during the night and looking at the milky way for the 1rst time with no light pollution around and being blown away by it. I pity the young generation for not having seen the islands the way they used to be.

A lovely place to stay near Pelekas is: Yaliskari Beach, great beach, one nice restaurant, some functional and clean small apartments with a large terrace looking out over the sea. If you go there, give my love to Nikos and Sophía (I'm Coby from Amsterdam, Holland)
I was just humming this song and then I come on here and see this video had just been uploaded 🥺 this music is pure beauty to me it means so much. thanks for the dance Mr. Cohen 🤍
The "Queen of Lilac" must be his first true love, Georgianna Orsini for whom he wrote "Marianne". In fact Ihlen never believed the song was for her in spite of how he called it. Cohen left her to follow his poetic call and eventually she married Orsini, a New York Italian restaurateur.
@@Iris-qd9csI've read about his early loves in his authorized biography by Sylvie Simmons 2012. And in other articles. He mentioned them in his Dress Reharsal Rags. As for Georgianna, he met her in New York. They lived together for 1 year and a half.Sylvie says she was the love of his life. He took her to Canada and introduced her to his mentor. However, when she wanted to get married he eventually left her to pursue his literary call. First he went to London then to Hydra. He wrote to her from Hydra asking her to join him, but she married another man. It was her second marriage. /I see you've gone and changed your name again/.

The heart just dies without trying to be happy or caring. The heart doesn't take care of the one that loves and you need to take care of it
When it brings memories we see the gift of a song for it draws on emotion.
I keep coming back... keep coming back to this wonderful video. It has perfectly matched the beauty of Cohen's song.
This is so beautifully mesmerizing. I could watch this footage and listen to that silky voice for hours...
What a voice....my God!!🥰
The mesmerizing beauty of Cyprus, bitter lemon and the fantastic views of the Mediterranean, combined to add lofty harmonies feelings of my time in Greek and Cyprus
thank you!
Island of Hydra. Such a romantic place.
Poetry. Cohen was one of my grandfather's favourites. I'm glad that he got to hear "You Want it Darker" before he, too, passed. Every time I listen to anything from "Thanks For the Dance", I think about how I'm listening for two. Although I've already listened to the album in its entirety, I look forward to listening to it with him at the cemetery in the near future. Thank you Mr. Cohen, and thank you Adam!
Melodie,interpretare,videoclip totul divin,minunat......
Leonard Cohen❤️ A beautiful song. A beautiful video.

Thanks for the songs and album and videos Leonard and Adam Cohen.
Леонардо, самый талантливый, с необыкновенно красивым голосом!

Why did'nt I see this before?
Beautifully filmed, and then that song and that voice..
I love Greece, its people and nature, the islands, the sea
Went on holiday there at least ten times (Santorini, Crete, Rhodos, Samos. etc.)
And lived , in 2015, for four months near Pelekas, Corfu.
I'm in love with this video
As a person who is living since 4 years in Greece, i believe that greeks have many good things except Confidence!
So many tears with every single word...
and every single note 😢
God I miss you "Lenny". But we still have your beautiful poetry!!! Sweet!!!
This song just made my life well-lived. The visuals are beautiful enough to turn its viewer a poet.
"WHO IS KIDDING WHO"... such deep words, and those bells...
"As if there ever was a you"...your beauty ruled me, and the snap from picking that citrus fruit...

The poet laureate of my generation, whose lavish and luminous lyrics will be savored by millions after
Poetic video! For the soul of the Poet!
Queen of lilac, queen of blue
Who’s moving on, who’s kidding who
The "Queen of Lilac" must be his first true love, Georgianna Orsini for whom he wrote "Marianne". In fact Ihlen never believed the song was for her in spite of how he called it. Cohen left her to follow his poetic call and eventually she married Orsini, a New York Italian restaurateur.
@@louisati1757 No, Lilith from Bibel (Queen of Lilac) and Queen Esther, nothing to do with Marianne and Georgianna.
Sublime. So thoughtful.
So precious ,so Leonard Cohen!Just thank you ,wherever your soul , is!
