In 1985, my family and and I were at a restaurant in the Dallas area when Kerry accompanied by a lady walked in. As they entered, the whole restaurant went quiet and everyone stopped what they were doing and all eyes were on Kerry. As Kerry and his companion were seated, the place went wild and people all gathered around his table to shake his hand, get an autograph and several had cameras and got pictures with Kerry. Kerry was very gracious and friendly with everyone and on his way out I ask Kerry for his autograph. He smiled and gave his signature and even took time to talk to me for a few seconds and shook my hand. As a 10 year old kid at that time, to me Kerry seemed like a real life super hero and had a great look, body and personality and was in person a super nice man. We miss you Modern Day Warrior!

When I picture him I always think of him back in his World Class days. Vince chased him so long you know he was gonna have a long title reign in WWF had it not been for the drugs and legal problems. He had the body Vince loved in his wrestlers and he knew how to actually wrestle. Unlike other heavily muscled guys like the Ultimate Warrior.

Yeah, look at how soon Kerry got an I-C title push after arriving in the WWF in 1990. He was such an established performer that his dues were "already paid" before he even signed with Vince McMahon.
I was talking to my mom about Scott Halls passing and found out my aunt date Mike Von Erich in high school! She said they were all really nice guys whenever she was around any of them. Sad what happened to almost all of them.
As a kid, I always thought why wasn’t this guy a bigger star. He had everything. Him and others of that era started a lifetime obsession with bodybuilding

I got to go to the Sportatorium once in the mid 80s...living in Louisiana, I was a Mid South/UWF loyalist but I became a fan of the VonErichs that weekend!! The relationship the fans in North Tx had for those boys cannot be fully put into words. As a young kid, my Saturday afternoon's were spent watching WCCW. Kerry and Kevin's matches with the Freebirds were awesome. He was more than just a pretty boy, he was a great wrestler and performer
I saw the Texas Tornado at a house show on January 20, 1992 (one day after The Royal Rumble). He defeated Skinner that day. I was 14 years old at the time.
I remember getting a letter from my great grandma about Kerry Von Erich dying. Maybe one of the true first moments of sadness I can remember In my life.

I grew up in Denton and one day Kerry walked right by me in the golden triangle mall he was wearing a disguise but I knew it was him it's like a super hero 😁 rest in peace.
Kerry was and will always be my very very favorite wrestler of all time. Fallowed by his amazing brothers. They where superstars before there where superstars in wrestling.
That royal rumble is also one of my favorites. I loved it when Kerry had Flair in the corner he did the tornado punch and Flair did his famous fall on the face. Lol
Looking back at the Kerry vs Mr Perfect match, you can tell Kerry was very limited with Mr. Perfect but Curt had the athletic ability to make magic in the ring with anyone who was stiff as long as Kerry just provided the strength and power, Curt would provide the acrobatics.
Atris AJ much deserved The Von Erics absolutely , positively , 💯 % deserve everything bit of shine they get and IMO they should get some shine or brought up on a weekly basis , The Von Erics were all my heroes but Kerry Von Eric was definitely my #1 by a Far margin over his Siblings even though I loved them as well , Kerry was just above and beyond and this man could Handle anything that was put in front of him it’s just sad that we never seen the Prime Careers of any of the Von Eric brothers because of overdoses and suicide , that hurt me more than anything as a fan that these Young Studs that everyone wants to Praise and to just have had the chance to be HUGE FANS of Kerry Von Eric and he goes and takes to much of a drug and was no longer able to entertain us anymore , but we have videos like this that we can always sit and watch and NO ONE can take the Replays of the careers of Kerry and his siblings ... RIP to the very BEST Wrestling Family in History , along with the Hart family they were also amazing
Arguably the greatest technical wrestler of his era doesn’t get the credit he deserves a true Texan all the brothers are great wrestlers all had demons but are the greatest wrestling family von erich’s Rest In Peace to all of them I use to watch them on their fathers wrestling promotion wccw
I got to take a picture with Kerry Von Erich holding me in the middle of the ring as a kid. Its one of my earliest memories. I remember being scared he was going to body slam me 😆 I still have that picture.
I never could understand what could make a person feel like one instance in life is so much they can no longer live with it. I've had some truly dark days in my life, but the sun always shines again at some point. I think tragedy is what makes life so beautiful. Rip to all the von Erichs gone too soon.
I often think about fantasy matches...was thinking of what a great series of Bret, Jim and Owen vs Kerry, Kevin and David would be. Family legacy series.
As a former pro wrestler, I love watching the von Erich family wrestling each and every weekend on world class championship, that's what made me want to become a professional wrestler. Kerry was my all-time favorite, this kid had it all, looks, size and was a great athlete, I always hope to meet Kerry when I was on the road wrestling not only with the wwf, but on the Indy shows also, unfortunately that never happened. I was grateful to meet Kevin years later with the iwccw. Still today I watch his videos, and say to myself this kid was awesome, I'm still saddened by his tragic death and wished someone reached out to him, but sometimes people hide things so good that we can't tell what's going on ,on the inside. He will be a lasting memory in the wrestling business, as well as in his family, and many, many wrestling fans. May you rest in power, my brother.
David Manning introduced me to Kevin and Kerry, they both were very sociable and very kind. We talked an hour before their matches. It was at Grand prairie hs field house in 1984. It was very inspiring. As time went on , I would talk to Kerry occasionally. We talked of family and training and life. He always asked how my family was. Above.all his physical and world achievements, I always knew his heart was his greatest attribute. RIP good soul.
Very tragic, I believe Kerry could've had a comeback had he not thought he ruined it, he could've went to rehab, and I think everyone would've embraced him, but addiction was viewed a lot differently then, and sometimes still misunderstood. RIP
In 1988 Kerry wrestled Iceman King Parson in my hometown out on our football field. He was the WCCW champ at the time. A big crowd of fans gathered around Kerry as he walked to the ring. Everyone was yelling KERRY!!!! KERRY!!!! At the same time the belt was being passed around the crowd of people. My cousin and I got to touch the WCCW title. It was a crazy brawl of a match that ended up in front of us outside the ring and they beat the hell out of each other with steel chairs. I was 7 years old at the time. A picture of the steel chair brawl made the front page of the local paper and you could see my little blonde head in the picture. Great memory!!!! The Missing Link was also at the show. He had a big long Lincoln or caddy with long horn horns on the front of the car.
I'm with the other RUclipsr. A David Von Erich video would be fantastic. As far as the complete package: look, size, wrestling ability, promo, psychology, business sense...that guy had it all.
Nice video put together here mate, I didn't know who Kerry was (until now) but he definitely won me over when he joined WWF with his look and the discus punch as his finisher. Now it all makes sense he was a national discus champion. Thank for a great educational wrestling video 😉🇮🇪🏅😎
I grew up watching WCCW on syndication here in South Florida. I would look forward to Saturday nights that would be a WWF show, and then WCCW real late. WCCW was soo much better than WWF at that point. I was fully sucked into the Von Erich vs Fabulous Freebirds feud. That was epic. WCCW had the BEST talent at that point. What a shame the Von Erich boys were ALL so messed up on drugs. What could have been if they didn't have those extreme demons. RIP
Kevin wasn't. Not saying he didn't dabble in stuff but yeah. David also. I mean no overdose despite rumors. And then Chris honestly I believe was just freaking depressed from losing brothers and the fact that he never had a shot to "live" up to the family legacy. And Mike, God bless him, was pushed back into the ring when he obviously wasn't ready and still suffering major mental and physical issues from the surgery he had.
My mom aunts and my dad used to watch The Von Erichs and other wrestlers in WCCW. I watched some matches with Kerry and he was really great. It’s sad how his life was and all his family.

I can still hear Bobby "the Brain" saying, Tx Tornado, the man with a million dollar body and a 10cent brain!.. I couldn't stop LoLzing at the Brain!
I still think Kerry had plenty of gas in the tank. He was only in his mid thirties.
@@ferox965 early 30s he died at 33
Yea Kerry was just a striker
Wow great bio on Kenny Von Erich sad he died so young he was a great wrestler R.I.P sir
I wasn't a huge fan of him in the day but looking back he was very talented.
Discovered this channel by accident but glad I did. Enjoying your videos.
Another great video. It’s a privilege to be a subscriber of yours!
Thanks for sharing, truly a sad story, I think about him almost every day :(
Thanks for giving some shine to the von Erics
He was one of my favorite pro wrestlers in wwf during the time.
I remember being scared he was going to body slam me 😆
I still have that picture.
I never could understand what could make a person feel like one instance in life is so much they can no longer live with it. I've had some truly dark days in my life, but the sun always shines again at some point. I think tragedy is what makes life so beautiful. Rip to all the von Erichs gone too soon.
@@joshuatraffanstedt2695 People handle situations differently though, just because one person can get through, it can drag others down.
Thanks for doin this Video Man! Awesome job as Always! Never Ever Disappointed!!!
I often think about fantasy matches...was thinking of what a great series of Bret, Jim and Owen vs Kerry, Kevin and David would be. Family legacy series.
The Modern Day Warrior World Class business mane!!!
Sir I love your wrestling bios! They are the best mini documentary videos on professional wrestling, hands down. Keep em going man, I love them!!!!!
very gifted at what you do . always a pleasure to watch the videos you upload
As a kid I saw Kerry n person and the dude was huge!
Great video! Love your wrestling bios!
RIP
The Modern Day Warrior, David, Kevin and Kerry were awesome. It blows my mind that only Kevin still alive.
Thank you for making in uploading this
Another brilliant video. Well researched, well put together, and as always, a very interesting, enjoyable watch - well done!
Awesome I wanted a Texas tornado video. Keep up the good work the best wrestling videos on the net.
World Class Wrestling was amazing, I certainly agree! Von Eriches and Freebirds fuel, were the best!
Such a great physique!
Dude I never realized how huge he was he dwarfs the warrior and that was before warrior lost weight
The warrior was billed as 25lbs heavier but I think Kerry had a better physique. The guy was a freak
@@onthemicwithmike6339 he definitely doesn't look 25 pounds heavier
Great genetics. Missing a foot, always f'd up and still jacked...
Should 've seen him in a suit, absolutely MASSIVE
I'm with the other RUclipsr. A David Von Erich video would be fantastic. As far as the complete package: look, size, wrestling ability, promo, psychology, business sense...that guy had it all.
YES!!
Screw the Texas Tornado WWF/WWE gimmick! Kerry will forever be known as The Modern Day Warrior Kerry Von Erich!!!
🗣🗣🗣 For McMahon & WWE! Forever Von Erich!
Nice video put together here mate, I didn't know who Kerry was (until now) but he definitely won me over when he joined WWF with his look and the discus punch as his finisher. Now it all makes sense he was a national discus champion. Thank for a great educational wrestling video 😉🇮🇪🏅😎
There was nothing bigger than the Von Erichs in WCCW...good, solid wrestling!
Your videos are outstanding!
I’m really enjoying them. Thank you.
The von erich's family's is my favorite wrestling family's. God bless the von erich's family's.
My mom aunts and my dad used to watch The Von Erichs and other wrestlers in WCCW. I watched some matches with Kerry and he was really great. It’s sad how his life was and all his family.
