RetroKrazy A Would you believe "Passing Breeze" was used in a driver's ed video back in the early 90s, including the arcade game itself? (It showed someone trying to play it with their vision obstructed, the point being what can happen if driving a real car under those conditions).
@@LITTLE1994 Haha, oh my, I commented here like 6 years ago, lol! 😄 But yes this is one of my favourite Mega Drive games. 😊 I own it on Switch now as well. 🤣
Outrun has to have the best music of any game ever and in arcades as a kid this is all I heard. I love outrun and the mega drive version isn’t that far off the arcade one. It’s really just the sounds.
Yeah, lets just listen to the DEXED remake of the OST by Woody Piano Shack, and play Super Sprint in the arcade, a way more fun game. I mean, Outrun was pretty boring to play. Regarding the best music. Super Sprint is very nice as well, and the sound chip Atari used sounds way better than FM.
The best home port of its time. The music is fantastic, clear and warm, and most of the visual content from the arcade is here thanks to the 8 meg cartridge. What a game! Always a blast to play :)
+Jason Lee lol, no. The PC Engine port has tons of visual issues/downgrades including some which are due to limitations of the hardware: - lower resolution than arcade/Mega Drive. - not fullscreen with added black bars at the top/bottom of the screen. - less variety of others cars than arcade/Mega Drive (there's no truck, no Volkswagen Bettle...). - no parallax anymore. - and maybe the worst aspect: several stages lack the visual element(s) which initially defined their visual identity such as lack of beach at Coconut Beach, lack of clouds at Cloudy Moutains, etc. Overall the PC Engine port is okay but the Mega Drive one offers a better and more complete experience.
+Night Driver for an 8 megabit game the Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive Out Run seemed a bit rushed when the developer finished it i would've used either 9, 10, 11, 12 megabits
+Jason Lee Not sure about a bigger cart but, yep, while it's a good port it could have been slightly better. As i said the music sound fantastic (and blow away the quite poor PC Engine renditions) but a better usage of the audio capabilities could have brought back the engine noise (whereas the PC Engine port lacks all the digit voices). Then visually the towers at Seaside Town are lacking (but at least the sea on the roadside is here) and the goal banner at the end looks like a joke. But other than these few flaws Mega Drive's OutRun is great and even has some exclusive content/touches which make it even more interesting.
Lol Super Mario Kart is leagues beyond this port. F-Zero also pisses on it from a great height. Both those games run at 60fps, while Outrun on Genesis is only 20fps, by the way. But Outrun on Genesis is still decent for what it is.
This really brought it all back, but then it became bittersweet when the ending started playing after finishing all five courses. I thought finishing a course, as in any one course, beat the game. I was sadly mistaken.
Outrun was my most favorite driving game that I was a huge fan great port on Genesis also my favorite versions or ports on Arcade, Saturn, Master System, Game Gear, Game Boy Advance. Even I beat Outrun on Genesis so easy to get Route B on Easy and Normal mode 🌟⭐🥇

I have beat this game a few times but I always get the congratulations picture at the end when they have got their back to the camera and not when they are looking at the camera for some reason.
I got a question please. Is that normal? I turned off the music in the option menu, and while playing, there was no sound from the Ferrari, which made me thought I may have a defect cart?

Make sure you press the button for the faster speed. You have to press one of the buttons on the Genesis to get the car into another mode that's a lot faster.

Nope, take the Saturn version as a "remaster" of the game, because it runs at full 60 FPS, and its awesome.
***** you wouldn't classify Sega Saturn Out Run as a conversion because it ran (runs) at 60 FPS frames a second
Its remade from scratch to take advantage of the Saturn´s power, so i like to call it a remaster.
