My husband laughs when I speak their slang, pigen, or Yoruba. Hearing you speak pigen with our American accent makes me realize why he is laughing. I love it oooo!!! lol!!!

@Timothy Kyler I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
my absolute favorite phrases “Im coming!” (Meaning “Ill be back” or it’s used during argument , meaning “i’m not finished with what I’m saying” “I beg” which has so many meanings depending on the situation, 😂🤣😂, but primarily meaning “Please”. “Shine your eyes” meaning be on the watch “Pepper them!” Meaning I’m going to look so good they’ll take notice 🤗
So my best girlfriend of 15 yrs and I both married Nigerian men both from same place Edo State ( I did 25 yrs ago she just met hers and married 2 yrs ago) so we are losing our minds in the joy of relocating. I just told her about your channel. Your vid are so enjoyable to me it gives me the feeling of being there until I get there keep up the excellent work. Great video. You got a new subscriber :) I've been watching Nigerian movies since 2005, and I was able to relate to all the Nigerian terms you used. I've finally decided to visit Nigeria. I plan to do so in November for my birthday. Hopefully that will be the dry season. I hope safety and COVID will be less of an issue by then.
It's lovely watching your integration into Nigeria. 👍 In Nigeria gas also means diesel so if you go to the filling station with your car and say you want gas, they may direct you to the diesel pump. 😂 The reason they think cooking gas first is because in Nigeria diesel engine cars are not common. It's trailers and big lorries that use diesel.
Nice. I will start using the terms now. They even make more sense and you do not have to explain yourself further. I will get the gist from you later....lol
Here's a list of my favorites: How you dey/How bodi? = How are you? Where you dey = Where are you? You wan chop? = You want to eat? See yansh or see ukwu = See that girl with the cake, the booty. Lol "Wetin you carry" for when you want to compliment a woman with an amazing body but be less vulgar about it. "You go wound" = You're so beautiful it hurts.
Na wa o...na wa for this your video o..."it makes sense no be small"😆😆... (In other news, was in your area yesterday but couldn't connect via messenger) Good job you doing Iveoma. Keep it Up 💪
You are so fun to listen to. You have great talent. Its very refreshing the positive vibes you bring into your videos. I can listen to you say Nigerian slangs all day. Well done!
Iheoma, great video once again... I was laughing crazy but I understand exactly what you are explaining. I lived 14 years in Nigeria listening and speaking pigen English. I miss all the laughter and noise and story telling. I'll come back one day. Thumbs Up. Good laughs and indeed "I NO WANT WAHALA OOOH... LOL!
This video is too funny; I luv Nigerian expressions. They are fun to hear them and learn them. You got the main ones down. One of my favorite ones is "listen very well" a lot of times they will say it while pulling on one of their ears👂🏽😂
Petrol ⛽️ is such a throwback. Growing up in the Deep South my folks say Petrol and my Daddy didn’t play about trousers and short pants (e.g. shorts) 🤣🤣
I am happy to see you again. I was beginning to wonder if you were ok. I usually do not comment on a person’s appearance on public media but your skin is noticeably different - in a good way. You are glowing like a bright lamp on a dark night. Keep up whatever you are doing.
Love watching you. Watching your transformation from American to Naija babe is like watching a butterfly come out of a cocoon. SO refreshing. Love it. Lol
Thanks for this very interesting . Also they call pregnancy an “ issue “. But issue means problem and in their case it’s not at all a problem it’s a happy news . But if they use it to other people who aren’t Nigerians it would be taken as they meant “ unwanted pregnancy “ Also the my kids for not your own kids ,my wife for someone else’s wife or Our kids, our wife etc could cause confusion . And they also sometimes say” I’m coming” when they actually mean “I’m leaving “. Oh I’ve struggled a lot with misunderstandings. 😂😂

You can use it like, 'No sidon look ooo'- That means 'Don't sit and look'.

Ms Iveoma, most of what you said are purely "Pidgen English", or as you noticed, Nigerian/British pronunciations. If you wouldn't mind, Ms Iveoma, are you originally Nigerian or American?
Iveoma, when I went to Nigeria, and I had to really go while on the road travelling, I asked a gas station attendant if I may please use her bathroom. She looked at me so incredulously and said, "what do you want to do in my bathroom?" My sister was laughing her you-know-what off. She finally told the attendant I needed to use the toilet, and the woman was like, "Oh, the toilet? This way madam."
Yes, Iveoma! That's right! I hope you're enjoying Lagos. You are much braver than me. I would be really frustrated living in Nigeria even though I grew up there (I grew up in Aba).
