Lawrence is one of the few remaining journalists who understands the gravity of the situation. He doesn't suffer fools or entertain Trump's circus of clowns like the other programs do. They fail to understand, any oxygen or time you give to Trump and his sycophants, only makes them stronger. There's no grey area here in the media, you are either against Trump, or you're for him.

I’d like to point out that Donald Trump has answered “I don’t recall”, I don’t remember”, and versions thereof to about 30 questions from the Special Counsel’s Office during the Mueller investigation, and MANY times during several OTHER depositions. Trump is an elderly man with a poor memory who doesn’t mean well.

I really like the history lessons when you watch Lawrence O'Donnell.
The journalists of papers like the New York Times, and also a lot of TV presenters, are allowing themselves to be influenced by the capricious fashion for ageism, and it's a deeply irresponsible thing to be doing at this perilous time. There is too much at stake to be playing these childish games. This is a time for people to act like grown-ups.

He shines. In the end… he always speaks with humanity, integrity, knowledge, intelligence, professionalism, character, educated… and love. In the end it always comes down to love. The love for the work one does, the love for others and the world, the love for goodness and kindness, for a better world. Nobody uses the importance of words like Lawrence. These words give hope in these dark times. And these words do make a difference every single day. Here's a tidbit I picked up when looking at FDR's first year in office. Roosevelt's plans for getting America to economic recovery partly depended on the banks cooperating. When Roosevelt took office, the banks embraced his plans, as the Great Depression had tanked banking across the country. After one year though, things had already improved enough that the banks wanted to return to their previous practices. That would have ended the recovery and probably kicked off a new depression. Roosevelt, by force of personality and from what support he had, held firm to his vision, and America emerged fully (at that time) from what had destroyed so many peoples' livings and personal security. They may not have been wealthy, but there was general equity and improvement for the majority of Americans.
And now you can bank at a Federally insured institution.
He confiscated people`s gold coins, which were spendable currency. This seems like robbery, er, Equity!

Looks like the "Yellow Journalism," which surged in the late 19th century, is being resuscitated on a large scale.
It was driven by the loss of the Fairness Doctrine which was destroyed by Ronald Reagan. Also, when the networks moved the news rooms into profit centers vs their own operations where they often lost money. We also didn't have the cancer of Fox News and other right wing tv and radio media funded by dark money right wing billionaires like Rupert Murdoch who want to destroy our democracy and sell it off for parts - just for tax cuts. In addition to Fox News, OAN, and News Max they also have 1,500+ AM radio stations broadcasting the same disinformation 24/7 across the U.S. That doesn't include the 350+ stations in spanish.
Bless him, Lawrence is the only high profile person in this industry that criticises the press and news media. They rarely criticize each other and that's the root of the problem. They we're acting like jackals in questioning President Biden last week and no one will hold a mirror up to them to show how how ugly they were.
And we wonder why many people abandoned the newspaper and mainstream media.

While I have concerns about the age and senility of both men I have to say that Biden's accomplishments compared to Trump's as president are monumental and probably the best of any president in recent history since Ike. Trump's only accomplishment was a 2 trillion dollar revenue reducing tax cut for himself and other billionaires that average Americans would have to make up for. As long as Biden can keep doing that then he has my vote no matter how cognitive. His handlers do need to do a better job however and I pity Trump's handlers.

We just got back from a vacation to New Zealand and became friends with a couple who live there. They are terrified if DJT gets reelected and even asked us if we would leave the country if he does. Of course we won’t leave and I was surprised how strongly they felt about how bad DJT would be for the entire world.
Oftentimes when one is too close to a problem you can't see it. However, like your new New Zealand friends demonstrate, distance gives perspective. They can see the gathering storm much better than many of our people can. Sometimes you have "to go outside the walls".

The point of Article 5 is though that it does _not specify_ the kind of reaction of NATO member countries. There is no automatic mass mobilisation, only that some kind of action needs to be taken.

Congress is spending like drunk sailors money our grandkids will owe. $223M every day payment Biden sends to Ukraine. How much did Biden blowing up Nordstream cost the Earth?
And NATO members have an obligation to pay their part. How's that worked out for us so far?

In this broadcast, which was excellent, Lawrence O'Donnell made a verbal slip a couple of times, talking about President Eisenhower when he clearly meant President Roosevelt. Did that ruin the gist of the editorial for you? Is Lawrence O'Donnell too old to be a good news commentator? Or did you inherently recognize what it was he intended to say, and not let that slip completely ruin the point of his commentary?
