At least 22 stranded tourists dead at Pakistan hill station after heavy snowfall

- At least 22 tourists died in freezing temperatures after being stranded in their vehicles in northern Pakistan, where thousands had flocked to enjoy the snow. Some 1,000 vehicles are still stranded in Murree, 40 miles northeast of the capital Islamabad. 'The local people are delivering blankets and food. Now we are only allowing vehicles carrying blankets and food towards Murree,' Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Pakistan's interior minister, said. Army platoons and paramilitary forces have been deployed to help the civil administration in rescue operations, he said.

The most ridiculous part about this is that there are still people willing to go to Murree standing at a tollbooth below the mountains. It's as if they're not aware of what's happening up there right now.
Well majority of the folks here don't have access to weather forecast technology, and are more focused with the fact that they are basically sizzling steaks on an active frying pan for most of the year.
Secondly, this type of snowfall is unusual for a place like Murree

The general public chose to ignore the repeated advanced warnings from the government and decided to travel to Muree! Since the 5th people were not meant to travel but they kept driving into Muree and breaking the law putting their and others life at risk.
That’s what people do.
But where are the authorities and police? They should have known better by blocking roads and preventing tragedies from happening!!
@@NeoFreshair how long will the authorities keep blocking the roads for? People should use their common sense. But did it cross NOBODY'S minds to go like, 4 or something days BEFORE the warnings? If before wasn't an option, then couldn't anybody think to try waitin for the conditions on the road to comfy up a little? That much snow doesn't melt for atleast 4 cold weeks, so provided that continuous snowfall spells dont occur, there is MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME to enjoy lots of snow.

It's very dangerous to travel during snowfall on winter time even you got a winter tire. Always check weather forecast before leaving. My deepest sympathy to the bereaved family. RIP to the victims😥😥
Jeez. Didn't know it snowed in Pakistan. That's some heavy snow. Outside early this morning, like in the teens. It was that cold in Pakistan. 1,000 vehicles. Two lanes. Leaving your home, these days, can seem like a great idea, but there is the WORST luck to be experienced at the drop of a hat, ALL over the world. I mean. People sometimes assume that if their motives are to please their wife and kids, that they're somehow protected. There was that dude, who got stuck in his chimney, years back, trying to surprise his family on Christmas Eve. They had NO idea where he disappeared to. A co-worker of my father got run over on a highway, after his kids saw a turtle trying to cross it and he got out to save it. Even if you come prepared, with a car that can maneuver well on any terrain or weather, the guy in from or back of you or way ahead might be driving a disaster.

The problem is there are no authorities and no police to prevent tragedies from happening!
If they've blocked roads and stopped thousands from travelling just like they're using lockdowns to stop people from sneezing and coughing then we wouldn't see humans exited about snow risk their lives and others!!!
And why should government waste resources when they already alarted people about weather conditions they warned people about it but they didn't listen.i mean this is my honest question why people have to do something which they were warned not to do we live in a world where we can get information about almost everything at anytime yet ignore everything and put our and our loved ones life at stake. Government issued warnings Not to go but thousands went and if police had placed road blocks, the police would have been assaulted and would have been a melee and police did not want to suffer injuries or worse, many died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to very poor standard of cars in pakistan.
guess exhaust from under hood or under car or back of car trapped by snow got in via air duct below window for cabin heating . or holes in body of car on floor , or into trunk if not tight . or into partly open window from back or if slow wind. or snow all over car very thick . but dont seem like that in video. , so , what to do, must heat car very cold. maybe open window partly on side that faces wind oncoming , try to make a plastic or paper pipe from that opening to mouth . close rest of small opening with clothes or plastic or ...or and try to park car facing into wind front as feel almost getting stuck . so exhaust from back dont come all over car. ..

The Guardian says they froze to death, do you have any news article that says otherwise?
@@SMGJohn nope that’s not the reason, they were using heater + their car windows were totally shut, and engine was running too as the cars was covered with snow it filled up with carbon monoxide, and the carbon dioxide they’re exhaling too! Now imagine what could’ve happened.
Ps:
Their bodies were covered in warm blankets in a totally closed vehicle, how would they have died of freezing!
Here are some tips to follow when you’re stuck in snow:
• don’t completely shut your windows, let be there a little gap for the passage of air.
•Cover your body with warm clothes.
• don’t run engine as the vehicle is covered with snow because there’ll be no way for the exhaust air to escape instead it’ll fill up in your cabin.
