I'm pretty sure Belle didn't die in the fire. They should have looked into the organization that she gave all her money to. Was it real? Was it secretly run by her under another name? I think that charity that she left everything to is the key to figuring out what happened to her. I think she knew that she was going to get found out soon, and decided to take her death and set up the one witness as the culprit. She likely killed the kids so she could escape more easily. Plus, she already killed some of her kids before so it's not like it's a line that she hadn't crossed already. She definitely escaped that fire, and probably went on to kill more people until she died of natural causes or from pissing off the wrong person.

    • @jonmohney6975

I have a suggestion for a video that I've not seen anyone on RUclips cover! The case of Ben Bellamy in Swansea, South Wales. My sister actually went to school with him and I went to the same school a few years later, there's a memorial there for him. He was brutally tortured and murdered on his way home from a party, even buying his killers snacks from a petrol station on the way home. It's so sad but I think it should have more coverage! From what I have heard about him too, he seemed like a really lovely boy and he was far too young to go through what he did

It's interesting that a huge reason why people were so put off from Belle even before knowing exactly what she'd done is because she was getting insurance money from the deaths of her husbands and children, and from the candy shop fire. Insurance was VERY taboo at the time because many people saw it as "blood money". Her neighbors saw her as getting rich off of tragedy, and to them it was distasteful.

According to the La Porte County Public library, "there were many Belle sightings in the twenty odd years after the fire. [..] Most of these sightings were investigated and discounted-except one. In 1931, in Los Angeles, a woman going by the name of Esther Carlson, was arrested for the murder of a man she was caring for, August Lindstrom, for his $2000 bank account. Mrs. Carlson died in prison before her trial [..] Two former La Porteans viewed the body in the morgue and came away convinced they had just seen the body of Belle Gunness."
    Fact or fiction, who knows?
As you pointed out Belle's ultimate fate will probably remain unknown and unknowable, but I urge readers to ask themselves 2 questions:
How often do people commit suicide by setting themselves on fire?
How often do fires decapitate bodies and leave no traces of the victims heads?

If a woman can get pregnant and through a full-term pregnancy without medical intervention, chances are that she's able to give birth; especially if she's had children before.
