I love the philosophy - It's a DESTINATION, not a RACE, and there are no extra points for finishing early! It's a good lesson we probably should all learn!
First of your videos that have popped up in my feed.Really enjoy your style of riding and your observations on landscape and culture.I am sure I will watch rhe rest of your videos now🚴👍
It was so nice meeting you there at Buckhorn campground. It's a shame we didn't meet the night before, we would have enjoyed chatting with you over for dinner and hearing more of your adventure.
Could you please show us what kind of bags yout got on your bike on what you are carrying with you? Would be helpful for people who plan on doing something similar like you
Well...I guess I'm RUclips famous now. I'll be waiting for my royalty checks to come rolling in. I was kind of hoping to watch the video and hear you say that the climbs weren't that big of a deal. But...as you have demonstrated in all of your videos, you have a great attitude about all of it. Kentucky was lucky to have you ride through it.
You lucked out avoiding aggressive dogs lol... another guy I know who rode across KY basically carried an air horn in one hand and bear spray in the other to avoid getting bitten. You're probably the first bicycle some dogs (and people) out there have ever seen! 😂
I give you credit, doing this trip is challenging enough, all the problem solving and just staying positive, but i think it makes the trip a bit harder to be on a deadline to catch a plane, that would have been a stress trigger for me. I could see how it would be more expensive to fly if you wait to book the ticket until after you arrive in VA. With my temperament, I would have had to pay extra just so I don't have to content with the looming deadline.
I grew up camping at Rough River Lake. I recognized the Chow Wagon building immediately - though it used to be called something else. In fact, i think there's been a few different restaurants there over the years.
By research, the USA states that not too bike friendly; 1) Wyoming 2) Nebraska. As currently residing in Las Vegas for about three years now, Las Vegas region is not too bike friendly either; 1) High amounts of traffic 2) very few streets that have bike lanes. And the citizens here drive like they are brainless :(. This city is full of Lawlessness and Immoralities. However, and as ending on a positive note, Nevada has quite a few natural landscapes (BDR trails; i.e: Reno to Las Vegas/Bike packing +500 miles to this destination mainly on level gravel to hard packed dirt trails), dispersed camping locations, and regulated campsites. There are also some lengthy bike pathways from Lake Mead to the 215 beltway and the River Mountain Bike Loop trail to also trails within their canyons and Mountainous areas. (There are many others, but they are of shorter distances throughout Southern Nevada).

Ha, I used to work in that tiny town you rode through at 11:40. Lots of memories going on lunch break rides on those roads around there.
Just so much enjoyed this video too. You make them so interesting and always end

I was raised in eastern Kentucky and love watching bikepacking videos like this. Keep it up man you’re great at this
The poorest state in the nation and lots of dogs, that makes sense. Gorgeous state to ride through Great vid, thanx.

Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I feel a little better now seeing you sweating a bit on those Kentucky hills. I was absolutely dying on them lol. Great job man!! Making it look easy.

Haha - nah, those climbs were definitely some of the biggest deals of the trip. I was lucky to run into you in KY, hope things are well with you!
Hey Man, I know you were going through Tenn not long after this. Hope you didn't get caught up in the storm.

Very green compare to California
Indeed! Enjoying following your journey as well. Hope things are good!
Will bike for ice cream
Yes, Kentucky is impoverished but doesn't hold a candle to the poverty you find on First Nation reservations. They hold the first spot.
