Yea, this is how early melodic hardstyle used to be, 2008-2009 kickstyle and better than most nowadays kicks for my taste. My favorite kicks are the ones from 2007-2009.
2005-2010 were for me, the "golden" years of hardstyle, in terms of kicks and melodies. I feel the actual structure of the tracks nowadays are a lot more fluid and actually feel structured, like they are not all over the place. Some tracks back in 2005/2006 had such strange intros and breaks, then broke away into what would be considered "hardstyle" back in them days, with the saw melody, heavy bassline and pumping/bouncing kicks. It was really Heady for me that "revolutionised" hardstyle with his alternating basslines and incredible melodies and kicks, he WAS such a good producer, now I feel hes just above average. Also Showtek need an honorable mention, not because of anything special they done, but for the way they produced their tracks, it was quite unique, their insane kicks and leads, bringing back SO many memories of my teens.

@@madworldx1 true :) but I also recommend the harder styles of Techno like Hardtekk (mostly east German stuff) and Hardcore styles like Uptempo/Terror/slower Speedcore. I know some stuff seems strange and unlistenable for a while (it took myself about 2 yrs to actually like things like Speedcore and Splittercore), but trust me, to like something out of all these genres, opens a whole new musical door :D I myself am more the Speedcore guy obviously, but I love the diversity in our culture and think, we should all embrace it together, regardless of what subgenre etc.

I usually choose the color either on the artwork for the release if there's any or a color that fits with the track's theme/title or then a color that can be associated with the artist himself (maybe a color present in the logo, think that certain red color in Star Driver's logo for example) or if it's a classic one it may get a slightly "older" look with less contrasty colors etc (but not necessarily). So yea whatever fits. Here the keyword was "Revolution",so picked old yellow/brownish look
Yeah, it's really sad to see what this beautiful music has turned into :c It went from really emotional long tracks to short loud festival tracks with a rawkick just to get drunk people moving on a festival..

Mehh I wouldn't call making tracks only 2/3 minutes long instead of 6 minutes evolving. Modern Hardstyle has cut pretty much everything that made Hardstyle have it's iconic sound, and I'm sad that most producers don't really make that kind of sound anymore. It's fine if you like modern Hardstyle, I just don't. I don't want modern Hardstyle gone either, I want it to coexist with more classic sounding tracks.
